Mark's point of view

Hours have passed since I have been interrogated and made to wait in the cold hallway of the station. The wind was blowing and my hand seemed to be freezing but regardless my heart was still on fire.

Rage was burning in me as I was thinking about how such an incident could happen in a vicinity that is always covered by securities.

And moreover due to the event I have planned, I have made Sara see to the fact that there was extra security in place but how?

How did they end up entering and attacking?

How did they escape as well and the security didn't catch a glimpse of any of them?

Someone must be in on it but who?

Who did this?

Who was planning to attack Jocelyn?

She has never had a clash with anyone but how? How did she end up being shot by the men?

Was the gunshot for her or was it not intentional?

“Mr Mark, I am so sorry to keep you waiting here but the detective will love to meet you now!” the young inspector, who came to invite me, said respectfully.

Without a word, I followed her to the office and sat in front of a middle aged man. “You must be Mr Mark!” He said and I stared at him for a while.

“And you must be the man in charge of the attack launched at my gallery today! What is the detail?” I replied.

I could notice his uneasiness and even though he was very professional with it. His tie came down a bit and beads of sweat formed on his face.

“Sir, we did our best in finding out who initiated the attack on your gallery, who it was meant for or how they got to the place but it was to no avail.

All the camera were blocked mysteriously not from the control source but from an outside link which none of our men can trace leaving us to believe that it can only be done by a very big tech company or something.

Well the men at the control room said they have experienced these twice in the last sixibth but since they was nothing serious and the network came back by itself the next day, they didn't bother.

And no car was seen to be entering or leaving around the time expect the car your fiance rode to the gallery.

And no criminal would have worked bare footed to the scene that day. So sir, We are still at a cross road but we will try our best to resolve the issue as soon as possible.”

He narrated.

My blood was boiling as I listened to all he had to say about the issue. How could these happen in a lawful hour and my gallery to be precise and these men can't even provide a very satisfactory explanation.

How???

I guess I must have zoned out for a long while as the detective shook my shoulder to bring back my attention.

“I know how painful it is to lose your fiancee but we will try our best to bring justice for her!” He said and I immediately stood up and walked out.

Justice!

Did he just talk about justice when Jocelyn lost her life already?

What other justice do they want to give that will be as satisfactory as putting a gun on the head of the person who did this.

Either it was intentional or not!

I was about walking off when I sounded heard a familiar voice yelling and wailing in a room. I was convinced that I must have been hallucinating but it got cleared the more I walked towards the room.

Curiosity got the best of me and I pushed the door open.

“Mum!” I called out as I saw she was in a very devastating position. She was leaning on her husband shoulder crying profusely.

“You!! You bastard! I should have known you were the reason!” She flare up the moment she looked my way and she rushed at me and slapped me on my face.

I was confused looking at the most caring people I know blaming me for something I don't seem to understand.

What have I done wrong this time around?

“Mum!” I called out softly but she slapped me again.

“Who is your mum? You murderer! I told her times without number to stay away from you but she didn't listen. She believed in you and your so called talent and vision.

Look at what she ended up with!

Death! She was killed because of you! If she wasn't there, she would have still being alive today.

You think we wouldn't find out that the ones who shot came for you! And my daughter took the gunshot! You bastard!

I regret allowing my daughter stay with you! You robbed me of my only petal and guess what, I will make you regret it.

I will make New York hotter than coffee for you!” She yelled at me and walked out banging the door heavily.

I was still void of emotions as my thoughts couldn't settle down as well. What is she talking about?

Jocelyn's father finally stood up from his seat and walked out after his wife without saying anything or looking at me.

What just happened?

They are the only family I know in New York! What just happened?

I looked at the female officer that I had seen before. She must have said something to them.

“What did you say to them?” I asked calmly and she looked at me with guilt.

“they came looking for you and since you were in a meeting. I brought them in here and they asked about the situation of things. So I told them the truth!”

She replied in a low tone.

“What truth??” I asked with an unintentional yell and she shook a bit.

“That the incident was a minor robbery planned for your gallery but unfortunately the scare shot they wanted to make ended up hitting Miss Jocelyn and the robbers ran away seeing the situation.”

She said and it was like my whole world came crashing down. “Is that the truth or the truth you are resolving to since you could not find any information about the attackers?”

I asked and she went mute. Guilt covered her like beads of sweat and her feet came tapping repeatedly.

“I'm sorry!” she muttered but I lost control and punched into the walls of the office. “Sorry!! Don't you dare tell me you are sorry!”

I yelled at her causing her to fall on her knees and before I could say Jack. I blacked out.

So stupid of me!Uncle Barnabas cleared the few dirty near their graves before coming to stand by my side.“They didn't believe you left even after weeks of them receiving reports that you went away. Mark's point of view It wasn't hard to inform the police that I will be out of town for a while but available for calls in case they have any report to make to me.Even though I knew they had buried Jocelyn's case just like that. They weren't even bothered about me.I wish I could punch so sense into them but I guess if they can't do it legally, I can do it illegally, the point is just for the truth to be discovered and justice be served for Jocelyn.I visited Jocelyn's family house and even though there was music on and no much changes in the house, there was no joy.Jocelyn's mum wasn't welcoming but she was not agitated like before. Her father heard me out and wished me luck after I told him I wanted to go bury my dead parents in my hometown. He asked when I would be back but I did tell him about the uncertainty and he approved even though I could read some disappointment in his eyes. They are forever my family but I have to leave to get justice no matter what.Sitting in the plan

Mark's point of view Hacking was a talent that has always come in handy since I started growing teeth. I hacked into the gallery surveillance camera and luckily I was able to retrieve the deleted section. And indeed, the footage of that incident was right there. Why did they delete it? I watched it for the very first time and I felt nothing but anger watching the man shoot towards my way and Jocelyn went down with me.I tried to bottle my emotions and watch the second time for analysis and surprisingly, I found out the gunshot was directed towards my direction. It wasn't a case of robbery like the officers claimed. The man in the passenger seat of the moving car was the one who took the shot.It was really planned as the car was on motion and didn't delay after the second gunshot and they drove away.Looking at their aim, it was obvious they were planning to shoot at someone and now I am cut in-between if the gunshot was fot me or Jocelyn. From the recent news, I Believe it is for m

My home looks exactly how she had left it and I was afraid a little change of movement will annoy her.She loved it like that and I want to keep it like this for her.I was still immersed in her picture when I suddenly heard my doorbell ring. I was shocked but waited patiently to see if it was a mistake but it rang again.I don't have anyone or better still friends in here. I have never had a visitor except Sara and I have laid Sara off work since the incident as I made a choice to close up the gallery. My inspiration died, so does the gallery!I stood up reluctantly and checked the see-through hole but I didn't see anyone. I opened the door and for the first time since I locked myself inside the house for a week. I received the natural air.It was calm but not as refreshing as it used to be. I stepped out to see who rang my bell but I didn't see anyone around. It was like it wa

Mark's point of view I lifted my head heavily and turned towards the voice and I was shocked to see Jocelyn's mum staring down at me with furious red eyes. She didn't wait for my words as she began to hit me with the flower in her hand. I wished to dodge the hit but I couldn't.I deserved it, I could only hold still as I received my punishment. “You killed my only daughter, you ingrate. You useless one.She supported your dream but guess what your dream did to her, it took her life. All she did was love you. You are evil. You cursed human being, you disgust me!” She kept yelling as she kept hitting me. I endured it all and suddenly it stopped.I looked up only to see she was sobbing into her husband's arm. He caught her in time during her outburst and led her away from me.I watched how much he acted and I wondered if I ever matched up to him In affection and control he had on his woman.I guess I wasn't man enough.“Don't blame yourself!” A voice said, I felt startled as it sounded

Mark's point of view “Mr Mark!” A buzzing voice kept calling my name and I couldn't help but open my eyes. It is a little dark here.I rubbed on my eyes to adjust my view and indeed it's dark in here. “Who is that?” I asked and the voice answered happily.“It's me, Sara!” She responded. I sat up causing all my body to ache. I must have slept in an uncomfortable position for a long while. But where am I??“Let's go, sir” she said and I wondered what she meant by that. “Where am I??” I asked and her mood dampened.“The cell in the station!” She replied.“What? How!!” I asked with a very confused expression and she stretched her hand and helped me out “They said they thought you were harassing the female officer, so they used their teaser on you and you blackout. It was only when they heard from the weakling called the female officer that you were innocent, so they called me to come take you home! I guess they are too ashamed to face you and apologize!” She responded and led me out t
