Mark's point of view

“Mr Mark!” A buzzing voice kept calling my name and I couldn't help but open my eyes. It is a little dark here.

I rubbed on my eyes to adjust my view and indeed it's dark in here. “Who is that?” I asked and the voice answered happily.

“It's me, Sara!” She responded. I sat up causing all my body to ache. I must have slept in an uncomfortable position for a long while.

But where am I??

“Let's go, sir” she said and I wondered what she meant by that. “Where am I??” I asked and her mood dampened.

“The cell in the station!” She replied.

“What? How!!” I asked with a very confused expression and she stretched her hand and helped me out

“They said they thought you were harassing the female officer, so they used their teaser on you and you blackout.

It was only when they heard from the weakling called the female officer that you were innocent, so they called me to come take you home!

I guess they are too ashamed to face you and apologize!”

She responded and led me out to the front desk of the officers. It was annoying and humiliating to think of all these men have done and how they are still yet to investigate the right thing and have caused a huge misunderstanding between myself and Jocelyn's family.

“Can I just go home now??” I asked with a clear tone as I have better things to do other than sitting behind bars with incompetent officers.

“yes!” She answered, without listening to the other half of her words. I walked out of the station ignoring the looks on the officers faces.

I got to my car only to realize my key wasn't with me anymore. I didn't even come with it so probably the key is with Sara.

I waited patiently by the car and after a few minutes, Sara rushed out, towards me with a paper bag and the car key dangling in her hands.

“I am sorry boss, I had to finish some paperwork!” She said and unlocked the car. I stretched my hand to get the key but she refused.

“I don't think you are in a good state to drive the car. I will drive you home sir!” She said, I wanted to yell at her but I stopped and got into the back seat reluctantly.

“Thanks boss” she murmured under her breath as she got into the car and drove out of the parking lot.

I watched the once lively city become silent as she drove pass. Every significant spot that was a reason of smile for myself and Jocelyn looks sad to me.

She made me find joy in every light thing in the city but why? Why will she be part of the victims of the unfortunate incident?

Time was really slow as everything looks dull and colorless. My heart seems to have registered every trip with her.

Even the little thing I saw as meaningful finally looking meaningless and is it real that I won't be seeing her anymore.

“Boss, I don't know if you will love to hear this!” Sara said.

I wanted to shut her up but I still could muster up the energy for such an action. “Well, Miss Jocelyn's parents have laid her to rest this morning. I don't know why but they insisted on not informing you!”

Sara reported, it was like a bomb exploded in my heart. “What!!” I screamed out as I turned to look at her.

She slammed on the brakes as a result of my noise and turned to look at me. “I tried my best to talk to them but they specifically warned me and said I should take this as my last respect to their daughter.

Jocelyn's parents have been a family to you sir but I don't seem to understand why they acted that way!”

She added, and I could feel my heart crumbling and my world turning upside down. “Where was she buried?” I asked.

She hesitated a bit before telling me. “the central burial ground!” She replied. “Drive to the place! I have to pay my respect to my wife as well!”

I said and faced the window again like we didn't just have an unpleasant conversation. I could tell she was a little scared but I didn't turn to look at her at all.

She started the engine again and drove off. It didn't take more than seven minutes to get to the burial ground. I got out of the car and walked into the land.

I could feel nothing but coldness taking over my body. The last time I was here was to pay respect to Jocelyn's last cousin.

She was so sober that day and who knew the next time I would walk on this ground, I would have to pay respect to her.

I located her spot faster than I expected, more like I was led there by my feelings. I read the inscription on her tombstone and tears gushed out of my eyes.

Jocelyn!! My Jocelyn is gone just like that!

Why her?

I knelt and touched the freshly covered ground and all I could think of was how fast the day played out yesterday.

I couldn't hold her living body and I could only hold her dead body for a while and now I am left with just sands of her burial ground.

I know my heart won't mend ever again. She was my everything. I didn't know how long I was kneeling in front of her apologizing for my foolishness.

I have indeed caused her death. I didn't protect her, she was right in front of me and yet she got shot. I didn't save her.

I slacked the very moment she needed me at the moment. How could I have done such a thing! She trusted me with everything she had!

I made her bleed a whole lot without doing anything to help! How could I?? I wronged her!

“What are you doing here??”

So stupid of me!Uncle Barnabas cleared the few dirty near their graves before coming to stand by my side.“They didn't believe you left even after weeks of them receiving reports that you went away. Mark's point of view It wasn't hard to inform the police that I will be out of town for a while but available for calls in case they have any report to make to me.Even though I knew they had buried Jocelyn's case just like that. They weren't even bothered about me.I wish I could punch so sense into them but I guess if they can't do it legally, I can do it illegally, the point is just for the truth to be discovered and justice be served for Jocelyn.I visited Jocelyn's family house and even though there was music on and no much changes in the house, there was no joy.Jocelyn's mum wasn't welcoming but she was not agitated like before. Her father heard me out and wished me luck after I told him I wanted to go bury my dead parents in my hometown. He asked when I would be back but I did tell him about the uncertainty and he approved even though I could read some disappointment in his eyes. They are forever my family but I have to leave to get justice no matter what.Sitting in the plan

Mark's point of view Hacking was a talent that has always come in handy since I started growing teeth. I hacked into the gallery surveillance camera and luckily I was able to retrieve the deleted section. And indeed, the footage of that incident was right there. Why did they delete it? I watched it for the very first time and I felt nothing but anger watching the man shoot towards my way and Jocelyn went down with me.I tried to bottle my emotions and watch the second time for analysis and surprisingly, I found out the gunshot was directed towards my direction. It wasn't a case of robbery like the officers claimed. The man in the passenger seat of the moving car was the one who took the shot.It was really planned as the car was on motion and didn't delay after the second gunshot and they drove away.Looking at their aim, it was obvious they were planning to shoot at someone and now I am cut in-between if the gunshot was fot me or Jocelyn. From the recent news, I Believe it is for m

My home looks exactly how she had left it and I was afraid a little change of movement will annoy her.She loved it like that and I want to keep it like this for her.I was still immersed in her picture when I suddenly heard my doorbell ring. I have never had a visitor except Sara and I have laid Sara off work since the incident as I made a choice to close up the gallery. My inspiration died, so does the gallery!I stood up reluctantly and checked the see-through hole but I didn't see anyone. I wished to dodge the hit but I couldn't.I deserved it, I could only hold still as I received my punishment. “You killed my only daughter, you ingrate. You useless one.She supported your dream but guess what your dream did to her, it took her life. All she did was love you. You are evil. You cursed human being, you disgust me!” She kept yelling as she kept hitting me. I endured it all and suddenly it stopped.I looked up only to see she was sobbing into her husband's arm. He caught her in time during her outburst and led her away from me.I watched how much he acted and I wondered if I ever matched up to him In affection and control he had on his woman.I guess I wasn't man enough.“Don't blame yourself!” A voice said, I felt startled as it sounded
