Ryan's POV

I stifled a scream and wheeled around to find myself face-to-face with Father. I had never seen him this angry and standing right in front of him with his hand on my shoulder unhinged me.

His eyes slowly went to the table, lingering for a while on the recorder before returning to my face.

“What were you doing?” He asked.

“The recorder,” I said hastily. “You left it lying around on your table.”

“And?”

“I think you should keep it safe,” I advised. “You should lock it up or something.”

Father seemed to relax a bit, he saw me returning it to his table after all so he had no cause to accuse me of stealing it.

“I've just been busy lately. I haven't taken care of it yet.” He finally relaxed and took his hand off my shoulder.

“Yeah, I think you should..”

I hadn't completed the sentence before Father took the recorder and before my eyes smashed it to bits.

I felt a lump in my throat as I silently watched him proceed to completely crush it under his heel until everything was in bits.

    Liam's POV“Is everything alright?” Alice asked when she noticed my change in mood.“Yeah,” I replied. “It's just..” I trailed off.The note was from Ryan.
