Li Wei shot forward, his gaze fixed on Shen Wuyin. “You hurt me with that hit,” he hissed, swinging his battle axe.

A sharp blue slash tore from the axe head, slicing through the air with a sizzling crack.

A green barrier formed around Shen Wuyin, four layers thick, pausing Li Wei’s slash midair.

“To get this over with.” Shen Wuyin moved with terrifying speed, too fast for Li Wei to see him coming.

Meanwhile, Tan Su stood still, admiring Mo Yueli.

“You are a pretty one.” He swept his gaze over her slowly. “Why do you want to get beaten?” he asked lazily.

A sharp clash of green and blue lights erupted into the air, the intensity almost blinding.

Mo Yueli and Tan Su stood at the other end of the platform, their gazes locked on each other as though no one else existed beside them.

“Talking to me won’t make your defeat any less swift,” Mo Yueli said, tilting her head to the side.

Tan Su lowered his gaze, a small smile curved on his lips.

“Feisty. I like it.” He met her gaze again. A dimly lit scarlet ring appeared in his pupils.

Almost immediately, Mo Yueli’s throat went dry. Her chest heaved. An invisible weight crashed onto her shoulders, forcing them downward. Her knees buckled beneath the pressure.

“What kind... of... pressure...?” Her voice faded. Her limbs trembled beneath the pressure.

Tan Su took a step forward, the ring in his eyes rotating slightly. “What’s wrong, Princess?”

Mo Yueli dropped to her knees. A sickening crack tore beneath her, knocking the breath from her lungs. Her fingers desperately dug into the platform, her jaw clenched tightly as she struggled to lift herself up.

“Oh, Princess…” Tan Su grinned, taking slow steps towards her.

“You... bastard,” Mo Yueli growled. The more steps Tan Su took, the more the pressure intensified.

If he reaches me, I’ll lose, she thought.

Her breath came in heavy bursts. The pumping sound of blood rang in her ears. Slowly, crimson liquid flooded her vision. Blood began streaking from the corner of her lips.

Meanwhile, Li Wei kept dodging all of Shen Wuyin’s strikes. Every successful dodge had him shrugging.

“Ahh, this feels so good.”

Shen Wuyin released another fire blast. Li Wei countered it with his axe, his protective barrier expanding forward.

“None of your attacks can get to me.” A smug grin curved on his lips.

“Another arrogant mortal. No wonder they never ascertain immortal heights,” Shen Wuyin scoffed inwardly.

“Now it’s time to teach you a lesson.”

While Li Wei was engrossed in basking in his protective barrier, Shen Wuyin activated his spike technique.

He shot forward another fire blast. The moment the flame reached Li Wei’s barrier, the barrier shattered like glass, fading into the air.

Shen Wuyin’s spike pierced through it with terrifying speed and shot past Li Wei, grazing his ear.

“Ouch!” Li Wei winced, his hand flying to his ear.

He lowered his hand. The moment his gaze hit his finger, his eyes darkened.

“How dare you make me bleed?” He thundered and shot forward, his axe in hand.

Just as he reached Shen Wuyin, Shen Wuyin wrapped qi around his feet and sidestepped so fast that Li Wei didn’t notice.

Li Wei’s axe dove into the space Shen Wuyin had been standing in. Just then, Shen Wuyin slammed his fist into Li Wei’s back with enough force to send him flying across the platform.

He crashed into the step of the platform, his face twisted from agony. Blood streamed from the corner of his lips, staining the collar of his robe.

“Okay. Okay. Li Wei is out,” Lin Xue announced.

Xie Linger watched the match closely, her gaze locked on Shen Wuyin. “Oh goodness, I pray he wins.” She pressed her clasped hands at the bridge of her lips.

Shen Wuyin straightened. “Arrogant fool.” He dusted off debris from his shoulder.

Just then, Mo Yueli’s muffled cries echoed across the platform. He turned to her sharply. She was now on all fours.

Blood pooled beneath her fingers as they dug deeper into the platform. Her tears became blood. Her lips bled.

Tan Su reached her.

“I told you, you shouldn’t be here.” He laughed dryly, lowering his gaze to Mo Yueli’s trembling figure.

He crouched before her, the hem of his robe resting loosely on the floor. He reached for her chin.

“Look at me,” he said, his voice calm, too calm for what was coming next.

Mo Yueli whimpered, her core trembling. Her eyes were bloodshot. “I... will...”

“She’s down already.” Shen Wuyin’s voice cut through the terror.

Tan Su lifted his gaze and let go of Mo Yueli’s chin. He looked across the platform, his gaze falling on Li Wei’s trembling figure. Two men approached him and took him gently off the platform.

“I already knew he wouldn’t last a minute, yeah.” He scoffed.

Mo Yueli struggled, her lips twitching, blood mixed with sweat trickling down her temples.

The ring in Tan Su’s eyes vanished.

Instantly, Mo Yueli crashed into the ground with a dull thud.

Immediately, three men stepped onto the stage. One of them took her in his arms, while the others followed behind him as he made his way to her chambers.

Lin Xue turned to Luo Yuyan.

Luo Yuyan waved his hand slightly, and Lin Xue nodded.

“Now we are down to two top contestants,” Lin Xue announced.

An uproar of applause thundered across the valley.

“Who do you think will win the prize? Yun Li or Tan Su?” Lin Xue added.

“Yun Li will definitely win.” Xie Linger’s voice broke out first.

“What are you saying? Didn’t you see how Tan Su didn’t even need to raise a hand in defeating the other contestants, including the princess?” The lady beside her smacked the back of her head playfully.

“Tan Su!”

“Yun Li!”

The villagers erupted into an uproar of cheers.

Lin Xue raised a hand, silencing the uproar.

“We will see.” He smiled gently. “Now, begin.”

Tan Su shoved his hands into his pockets, his eyes locked on Shen Wuyin.

“You are quite tough, alright, but this is where your toughness ends,” he said casually, as this was nothing more than a convenience.

Shen Wuyin barely registered his words.

According to the meet laws, I’m not allowed to kill him, but I can wound him, he thought.

He stayed still, meeting Tan Su’s gaze.

“I must admit, he isn’t like the rest I’ve beaten so far. But there is something about his gaze that just doesn’t seem right,” Shen Wuyin pondered in his thoughts.

With that, he shut his eyes and began sensing Tan Su’s qi and spiritual energy flow.

In the darkness, a huge platinum figure stood beside Tan Su, its eyes blazing red.

“That’s an….” Shen Wuyin’s voice faded.

A gush of memories from his past life flooded his mind.

“Dao Spirit Possession Technique.”

It allows him to be linked to the lingering spiritual energy and technique of a dead Dao master, and the Dao master’s presence exists beside him during combat.

“Interesting, but unfortunately for him, I assisted in creating that technique.” A small scoff escaped Shen Wuyin.

“What now?” Tan Su snorted. “You are praying for the divines to help you?”

Ignoring his jab, Shen Wuyin muttered,

“Samsara Severing Technique.”

He took a fighting stance, following the exact steps from his memory. An emerald constellation appeared in his pupils, totally hidden from the physical eyes.

“Bring it on already.” Tan Su shrugged.

“Of course.”

Shen Wuyin unleashed the multiple-strike technique he studied from Su Beichen during their combat.

Numerous hammer strikes shot forward.

A smug smile tugged on Tan Su’s lips.

Just then, he noticed he wasn’t able to use his dismissal technique.

“What’s….”

Before he could ponder, Shen Wuyin’s strikes slammed into him, sending him crashing into a distant tree. He fell limply to the ground with a sickening crack.

“Oufff.” Lin Xue remarked.

Unknown to Tan Su, Shen Wuyin’s Severing Technique had disconnected him from the Dao master’s spiritual energy, leaving him almost without a backing technique.

Xie Linger leaped for joy, clapping her hands. “I knew it!” She squeaked from excitement.

Lin Xue appeared on stage and lifted Shen Wuyin’s hand into the air.

“Dao masters, cultivators, gentlemen and ladies. This year’s winner of the 13th Moon Meet is Yun Li,” he announced.

Cheers thundered through the valley. The villagers shot to their feet, applauding.

Luo Yuyan got onto the platform and presented the prize. He leaned in. “Well deserved.”

The Luoxia Sect is the second Eminent Sect in the South Region, he thought as he locked his gaze on Tan Su. Suddenly, Luo Yuyan’s expression hardened. “Then why is he here? Why wasn’t I informed about it?” Lin Xue lowered himself beside Luo Yuyan, his gaze locked on the ground as though it held the answer. “His mother is Xiao Lengyue, one of the merchants at the main market.” Luo Yuyan glared at him for a second, sending shivers down Lin Xue’s spine. “He is only here for a visit,” Lin Xue said quickly. “He asked to participate in the Meet, nothing more…” “To show off,” Luo Yuyan cut in sharply.
