"Haha," laughed dryly, "that's a nice one, funny joke." He forced himself to voice out, demonstrating sarcastically as he spoke.

"I'm not playing around," she repeated. "I said I want to come with you."

Ryder knew she was serious, but he just didn't want to believe. Maybe he misheard her.

"Why!" was the only question he could ask, just why. What suddenly brought up such an absurd thought to her head?

"I am not playing around, Ryder. I really want to come with you," Mia declared.

"But your father is the professor..." Ryder couldn't complete his statement before she interrupted.

"Then what? What if my father is a professor, is that even an excuse?"

Ryder paused for a moment, reasoning.

Her father wasn't just a professor. He was Dr. Hamm, his teacher.

His teacher, Dr. Hamm, a short old man with a walrus mustache who was known to not be the best of students.

Back at school, he never really paid attention to lectures. Dr. Hamm really wouldn't embrace the idea of Mara coming with him.

What used to be expensive furniture was now firewood packed together in a pile. The entire area was leveled, but strangely, only the remains of Leo's building were left behind. With everything crumbled to pieces, the only thing they could think about at the moment was to give the remains one last worth. It was already night, so they made camp with the wood splinters. It wouldn't have been possible if not for Brok, given the state of their vicinity and the current time. There were no shops or supermarkets around to purchase a lighter, and even if they decided to travel far, it was already too late in the night. No one would dare sell actively at this time, especially due to the rules the FSG placed on the entire country. With wood but no means to make fire, they were becoming hopeless until, all of a sudden, Brok solved the trouble by offering them a lighter from his pocket. No one would have ever thought a lighter had the ability to light up the mood of men.But then again, that arose

Mara approached him with a gentle smile and careful footsteps. "I've made up my mind, and it seems you want to be a successful father," she confirmed gently before kneeling. "It would be wrong if I don't ask... I wanted your blessing, if you can give it." For a long moment, Dr. Hamm was silent, his gaze fixed on some point beyond her shoulder, lost in thought or memory. Finally, after fleeting moments, he started. "Your mother was the same way before she died." "Headstrong, fearless, always chasing her desires positively. I could never talk her out of anything once she'd made up her mind." The mention of her mother, who had died when Mara was still an infant, made a single teardrop drool down her cheek. Dr. Hamm rarely spoke of her, the pain of her loss still too raw even after all these years. "This could be the last time we will be speaking in a long time," Mara spoke, still on one knee waiti

The clacks from his boots resonated through the deserted, ruined vicinity as he walked through what was once streets.Dr. Hamm's residence was a bungalow at the edge of the academic quarter, but now, he could barely recognize what he would have once called home.He looked lost as he walked, glancing at the sober faces of villagers everywhere he turned.Several laments could be heard at the nooks and crannies everywhere, and without asking a single question, Dr. Hamm already eavesdropped on the entire incident. He had travelled away since about five days ago for exploration like he always does during long holidays, and now he was back, he couldn't recognize the village he left behind. His travelling bag straps were still hung around his shoulder as he dragged his feet on the ground, only able to mumble to himself."What is going on!"After a long walk through the village despite his tiredness, he reached his home.Looking at the ground, while standing on the area that was sheltered by

"So you were a killer?" Rider asked inquisitively. "Yes, I was," Leo replied without giving a second thought. Brok stole a quick glance then quickly turned away, hoping it wasn't noticed, but he was caught red-handed by Leo who wasn't even staring at him. "If you were a killer, why were you feeling worried about the porter from earlier?" Ryder asked. "Why were you worried about the lives of the villagers?" Leo remained silent for a while, like he was hesitating and carefully selecting his next words. "Because I am not actually the kind of killer I am assumed to be." "You see, Summoners Slayer isn't actually the right word to describe me," Leo explained. "To be more appropriate, I should have been referred to as Familiar Slayer because that's what I specialize in exterminating." "Most of the time, summoners do not attack me directly but they use their familiars, and so I mostly kill familiars." "There are only a few times I have killed summoners." "I carefully select the way I

I've made corrections to your text, focusing on punctuation, spacing, and fixing incorrect words and phrases without significantly altering the original content. Here's the corrected version:Ryder's laughter died completely as he reasoned. Leo has never lied and has no reason to right now.Leo had told him a lot of things that were abnormal to the ordinary human, and he had noticed they were all true. The Silver Gaze technique which enhances his eyes' perception. The same Silver Gaze technique that enables him to see and move his life energy around his body for strengthening and healing. He performed many abnormal and impossible tasks, and had healed a broken limb in a short time frame. If he truly was so old, it shouldn't have been a surprise, but Ryder found it hard to believe."Are you seriously not kidding?" Ryder questioned, not wanting to believe."Does it look like I'll be joking now?" Leo snapped back in annoyance. "You should have already understood how it is possible by now

"Familiar... Retreat!"Radar has done this before, and doing it again didn't seem so foreign. He felt like it was in him.Chanting the word even though it wasn't necessary, he moved the gamma energy inside his body in similar fashion to the way it moves before a porter materializes.Right in front of him were sparks, increasing every moment, and eventually it evolved to swirling streaks of gamma energy like purple lightning.Giving it enough time to fully stabilize, Luxy slowly walked closer to it."I guess it's time."As soon as he entered, the porter closed behind him like it never existed. As confirmation if it was successful, Ryder pressed two fingers on the side of his head."Are you there, Luxy?" he inquired."Yes," Lucy gave his single flat response.Rider smiled and then continued. With Mara who had already gone her separate way and Master Song who had as well, left his red Eastern guild members to go his separate way, Ryder had nothing else to do in the village.Taking a quic

He, of all people, is given a proposal Lucian must answer submissively because he has no say in it.Mia chose to remain silent because she was also aware of this. She simply kept glancing between Master Song and Lucian blankly.Right before Lucian requested her to join the hunt against the black marked summoner, she did a personal research on him by herself and understood the entire situation. She was impressed in how Lucian was able to publicize the issues and still have his actions unquestioned. She joined anyway just to have some fun, and seeing that the Red-Eastern guild leader is now against them, she did the best course of action — silence. She remained silent while Master Song directed all the talking to Lucian. If she did not utter any word to involve herself, maybe... just maybe she wouldn't be in a similar place as Lucian.Despite having a crimson monarch as her familiar, she wasn't too popular. She is among the few that do not really want the fame, but want a good life.Giv

I have known Leo to be the Summoner Slayer and a formidable person after hearing multiple stories about him killing familiars with his own raw strength and incredible perception.Despite all this, he still won't fight against the entire FSG base. He is not so dumb to not realize that you won't be able to take on a horde of red marked familiars simultaneously. He suddenly joined the one-man losing team, and this made me have a second thought even though I already planned to make him join me.Whether Ryder liked it or not, he will face punishment, but then, I wondered if he was truly the one deserving to be punished.I only got to hear your part of the story and not his part, so when he accepted my proposal, I listened to his condition. All he had to say were nothing that would harm any innocent individual or even the FSG who had been hard on his tail. All he requested was revenge for his parents and independence even when admitted by the Red Eastern guild."Now I'll make this clear, Lu
