The sound of the banging and shouting instantly brought a look of terror to the eyes of both the woman and Su Yin. They both began to tremble.

Seeing this, Chu Yun frowned slightly and asked, "What's going on?"

The woman, looking terrified, opened her mouth to speak, but just as she was about to say something...

Bang!!!

A massive, muffled crash echoed.

The latched front door was violently kicked, snapping the wooden bolt in two.

Immediately, a burly, thick-set man barged in from outside, flanked by two others. He reeked faintly of alcohol and started cursing the moment he stepped inside.

"You dare lock me out? Have you lost your damn mind?!"

"That little slut you gave birth to dared to seduce people in Duke Sovereign's Estate! She nearly dragged me down with her! Hurry up and get the hell out of here, what are you still sticking around for!"

The man kept cursing all the way from the front door into the inner room.

It wasn't until he stepped inside and caught sight of Chu Yun standing there that his stream of obscenities ground to a halt, his brows instantly furrowing.

Chu Yun's expression was cold. He looked at the woman and asked, "Who is this?"

The woman glanced at the man. After a moment of hesitation, she replied in a small voice, "It's Yin'er's eldest uncle."

Hearing this, Chu Yun generally understood the situation.

The man frowned at Chu Yun and asked, "And who might you be, young master? Why are you here?"

His sister-in-law had given birth to two daughters and no sons. Originally, after his younger brother died, he had planned to take this house back. But he hadn't expected Little Jade to sell herself to Duke Sovereign's Estate and actually get selected. That was a big deal; even if she was only a maid there, he really didn't dare stir up trouble. Helpless, he could only watch from the sidelines.

But a few days ago, Little Jade died.

Su Huan was naturally overjoyed. He came over today planning to seize the house and sell it for a bit of cash, so his family could afford meat with every meal again.

Chu Yun looked at Su Huan and didn't answer his question. He simply said flatly, "From now on, this place belongs to this mother and daughter. You are not to lay a finger on it, nor are you to step half a foot into this courtyard ever again."

Su Huan's brows locked together. Seeing that Chu Yun's clothes were indeed not those of a commoner, he glanced around, but surprisingly couldn't find any servants accompanying him. He seemed to be entirely alone.

This made a trace of surprise appear on Su Huan's face.

What kind of wealthy young master went out without a servant?

Maybe he was a fake. And even if he wasn't, he was probably just some ordinary figure with no real power. Well, he, Su Huan, wasn't easily scared.

Su Huan immediately let out a cold sneer and said, "Aren't you sticking your nose a bit too far into other people's business, young master? At the end of the day, this is my Su family's internal affair. It's certainly not an outsider's place to speak."

As he spoke, he ignored Chu Yun and strode straight forward, reaching out a large hand to grab the nearby Su Yin by the collar, intending to drag the mother and daughter out by force.

Seeing this, both Su Yin and the woman showed expressions of terror. Su Yin shrank back frantically, but there was nowhere to hide. She was just about to be grabbed by Su Huan.

But.

Right at that moment.

Chu Yun gave a soft, light snort.

Mystic Masters below the Seventh Tier possessed no martial prowess, but that was only relative to Martial Cultivators of the same rank. Their spiritual strength was still not something ordinary people could resist.

To the ears of Su Yin and the older woman, this soft snort sounded completely normal.

But to the ears of Su Huan and the two men he brought, it was entirely different.

Boom!

Like a sudden clap of thunder on level ground, it exploded in their minds.

In an instant, it felt as though they had been plunged into an ice cellar. A breath of freezing air rushed from their heads down to the soles of their feet, as if they had been stripped naked and tossed into the freezing slush outside.

Su Huan's outstretched hand froze stiffly mid-air, his entire body locked in place.

Struggling to turn his eyes, he looked at Chu Yun beside him, only to meet Chu Yun's gaze and see those fathomless, abyssal eyes.

Words could not describe the terror of that single look. It was as if the Nine Springs of the Underworld had suddenly manifested before his eyes. The entire world was collapsing and shattering, and even his very consciousness felt as if it were being crushed into pieces!

What a terrifying gaze!

Even high-ranking officials or fierce military generals didn't have eyes this dreadful!

For a moment, Su Huan nearly suffocated, unable to make a single sound. Cold sweat soaked through the back of his shirt.

The room plunged into utter silence, leaving only the sound of heavy breathing.

Just as the atmosphere froze solid.

A clamorous voice drifted in from outside, shattering the eerie silence.

"Get out of the way, move!"

Shen Ye came jogging in, appearing at just the right moment. He charged straight into the room and kicked the dazed Su Huan squarely, shouting angrily, "You dare offend the Second Master? Are you looking to die?!"

"Our Second Master is a young master of Duke Sovereign's Estate! If you anger him, even if you lot are ground into dust and cast down into the eighteen levels of hell, it won't be enough to atone for your sins!"

With that kick.

Coupled with the mention of "Duke Sovereign's Estate," Su Huan violently shuddered and was sent sprawling to the ground.

This impact finally snapped him out of his daze. His consciousness marginally restored, he stared at Chu Yun with a deathly pale face, radiating endless terror. The slight buzz of alcohol he had earlier vanished without a trace.

"I... I... This lowly one didn't mean to offend... I didn't know you were a young master of Duke Sovereign's Estate... Please forgive my offense..."

Duke Sovereign's Estate!

As a commoner in the Imperial Capital, he knew all too well the crushing weight those words carried!

Just the fact that Little Jade had sold herself there as a maid had made him wary enough not to forcefully seize this old house. Let alone a young master of Duke Sovereign's Estate arriving in person!

Moreover.

That look just now... he had never seen anything like it in his entire life. For a split second, it had literally made him feel like he was already dead!

Chu Yun looked at him indifferently and said evenly, "Did you remember what I just said?"

"I remember! I remember!"

Su Huan knelt on the ground, kowtowing repeatedly in response, knocking his forehead so hard it drew blood.

"Then let's add one more rule. I do not want to see anything bad happen to this mother and daughter in the future. If something does happen, you'll be paying for it with your life."

Chu Yun's tone was calm and placid, lacking any sharp edge or chill, but the more he acted like this, the more terrified Su Huan became, his very core trembling.

"Yes... yes..."

Su Huan responded shakily.

"Get lost."

Chu Yun waved a hand.

Hearing Chu Yun's dismissal, Su Huan and his cohorts finally felt as if they had received a grand pardon. They scrambled out of there like men fleeing for their lives, not even daring to look back once.

Watching Su Huan and the others flee in panic, Shen Ye let out a small sigh of relief. But then his face turned slightly bitter, and he whispered to Chu Yun, "You truly have a kind heart, Second Master, but this Little Jade's family... Handling things this way might bring you trouble."

He could guess half the truth behind Little Jade's death. Regardless, it definitely wasn't because she was seducing a master. However, the nature of the matter had already been officially decreed. If Chu Yun had come here to smash things up and vent his anger, it would have been fine, but offering comfort and support like this... there was a good chance it would stir up trouble.

He was also terrified of being implicated himself.

That was why he had hidden outside initially instead of coming in. It wasn't until he heard that things were going south and worried something might happen to Chu Yun that he reluctantly rushed inside.

"It's fine."

Chu Yun didn't care.

Maybe there would be trouble, but ultimately it would be a minor issue. As he was now, he was more than capable of handling it.

Just as Chu Yun was wondering what else he needed to do, a peal of silver-bell-like laughter suddenly drifted in from outside, echoing into the bedroom. The voice was crisp and melodious.

"Oh? Are there actually still kind-hearted people in Duke Sovereign's Estate?"

"Who is it!"

Shen Ye's expression changed. He barked sharply and whipped his head to look outside.

But he didn't see a single soul.

He only heard a string of giggles coming from different directions, slowly fading away. "This wandering heroine was merely passing by. Don't mind me, carry on."

Chu Yun raised his head and looked in a certain direction, faint spectral light glimmering in his eyes.

Hum!

The entire world instantly turned transparent and illusory. His gaze pierced through the eaves and layers of walls, locking onto a figure rapidly retreating into the distance.

The figure was petite and graceful, but in Chu Yun's Spirit Vision, she was incredibly blinding. The dense, interwoven bloody light radiating from her entire body was like a roaring bonfire, almost scorching his eyes!

Her movement technique was as agile as a rabbit.

In the blink of an eye, she disappeared beyond the range of his Spirit Vision.

Leaving behind only a faint, lingering chuckle that gradually faded into the wind.

...

A hundred yards away, on the corner of a roof eave.

The young girl wore only a light yellow blouse as she stood in the snow. Despite the freezing weather, she seemed completely unafraid of the cold. Her exposed wrists and ankles seemed even more crystalline and translucent than the vast white snow covering the world.

"A Mystic Master... probably hasn't joined the Celestial Observatory yet..."

"A pity his tier is a bit weak, and he's from Duke Sovereign's Estate to boot."

Glancing back at where she came from, the girl murmured thoughtfully.

Silently, without a trace.

She vanished.

Specks of white snow drifted down from the heavens once more, slowly burying the shallow footprints on the edge of the eaves, as if no one had ever stood there at all.

After breakfast, Chu Yun followed his inherited memories and rummaged through a chest. He dug out some loose silver from the bottom. Weighing it in his hand, he estimated there was about twenty-three or twenty-four taels. For a young master of Duke Sovereign's Estate, this paltry amount was downright pathetic—not even enough for a single trip to the brothels. But to an ordinary family, it would cover living expenses for several years.Stowing the silver away, Chu Yun stepped out into the courtyard. His lone manservant, Shen Ye, was outside sweeping the snow. The moment he saw Chu Yun, he dropped his broom, pasted on a smile, and offered a respectful bow. You mean the maid belonging to the Third Young Master over in the South Courtyard? What makes you ask about her all of a sudden, Second Master?"Chu Yun did
