The murmuring resumed amongst them.

“His kids are not his?”

“That means his wife had been cheating from the beginning."

“Is he impotent or what? How was his lawfully wedded wife having another man’s babies while they were still married.”

“Thank goodness he didn't associate those bastards with our family. We would have faced huge backlash over this. Imagine if the press caught wind of this, my fashion line launch would have failed.”

“Is it not dangerous to have him back in this manor? My company’s stock must not fall because of this.”

Lyon was the most surprised. How did his aunty have so much information on him, he looked at his mom and she looked like she was as shocked as he was.

Aunty May did not even inform her before she laid his business bare in front of the whole family.

“May, that is not true,” Linda confronted.

“That’s your son over there, ask him about the kids he had been raising for almost six years." May replied with a harsh tone. “If he didn’t take after his father strongly, he would not have fallen for that vixen!’

She didn’t see eye to eye with Linda, in fact she had strongly objected to her brother’s marriage with her.

He had recklessly abandoned his betrothed, who was also May’s best friend for Linda. This made her friend face disdain and mockery because her engagement was cancelled.

May resented Linda and always accused her of bewitching her brother..

Linda exchanged glances with Lyon who just nodded to confirm her fears. Her face fell immediately.

“We can’t blame Lyon’s ex-wife. He was working as a guard to sustain a woman, I am sure his salary could not buy my perfume. How could any woman possibly endure that level of poverty.” Jane said again.

“Hmm!” The Old Madam cleared her throat. “My bedtime is close, if you are going to keep catching up on a terrible event, I should be going to bed now.”

“Grandma!” Gina called out and held onto the Old Madam’s hand. “You can’t go to bed without getting your thanksgiving gifts from us.”

She snapped her finger and two servants brought a box to the table. She opened it up. “This is a one of a kind zither designed by the famous Lizzy Tang.”

“Whoa!” Everyone at the table chorused.

Old Madam smiled, “as expected of you, Gina.”

Kaden, the first son of the second branch, got up, “I even got you something that is even more special.” He brought out a bag and placed it on the table. “This is a rare, century old ginseng root. It is currently valued at a hundred thousand dollars.”

“Grandma, i got you the custom made praying bead from Italy, it has the name of everyone in the family written on it….”

Everyone from the first, second, fourth, and fifth branches, along with the concubines, presented their gifts while Lyon watched from where he sat. He was not used to this type of event anymore.

The member of the family had presented the Old madam with so many expensive gifts but he had not even used his money to purchase what he wanted to present to her.

Though he was not intimatedated by this, he wondered if the Old Madam’s taste had changed.

“Lyon!”

“Lyon Dwayne!” May called but he was lost in his thoughts.

It took a tap from his mother to bring him back to reality.

“Did you not come with a gift?” May asked with a stern voice. “I specifically asked you to come with something. Even if you resent the family so much, did you not think of saving your mother’s face?”

Lyon stood up, ignoring his aunty and walking to Ola Madam’s side with the small gift bag.

“What is in that little bag?”

"Did he buy some lipgloss for grandma?”

“Instead of showing off the money he got from his ex-wife’s man by buying some flashy suit, he could have bought a better gift.”

“He is so embarrassing, omg.”

The whispering started once again.

Lyon brought out the bracelet in the bag, “I remember back then, that the Old Madam loved to wear jade items and even decorate the manor with the rarest types of Jades.”

He hands the bracelet to her.

“This is my gift for the Old Madam.

“Isn’t that some knockoff bracelet?” Jane commented. “You should have bought some original scarf or something else for grandma, why buy some fake ass shit for her?”

‘Everyone here carefully thought about the gift to give grandma and he comes here with some cheap stuff.”

“I understand that Lyon has been away from home for a long time, but Aunty Linda should have tried to inform him about grandma’s preferences. We all know that she doesn't like counterfeits. She says it’s embarrassing."

“He brought something, that is all that matters,” May said in his defence, Lyon could not tell if his aunty hated him because one minute, she was saving him from the claws of everyone, the next minute, she was sinking her fangs into him.

Everyone at the table laughed but the Old Madama’s eyes were fixed on the bracelet. “This is the last jade bracelet designed by my father-in-law, Lord Dwayne. As of ten years ago, it was auctioned for ten million dollars but it has returned home today.” she said as a tear dropped from her face.

“But grandma, how can we tell that it is the real deal? From what I know Great-grandpa’s work has so many copies out there.” Kaden argued.

“No one has been able to copy the stamp I specially created for the last batch of jade jewellery he created." The Old Madam confirmed, “This is the most precious gift I have received in years.”

A smile formed on Lyon’s face

Lyon stepped out of KlinMeal with Paul following closely behind him, and for a moment, he turned around to look at the restaurant.Only two nights ago, he had stood in that same building with an empty stomach, an old phone, and barely enough money to afford a cab ride home. The employees had looked at him like a beggar and treated him like he was beneath them. Now, the entire restaurant belonged to him.For the first time since waking up in that mass grave, Lyon felt a strange sense of satisfaction. It was not because of the money or the luxury surrounding him. It was because he had finally taken control of something that had once made him feel powerless.“Boss, I still can't believe everything that happened inside,” Paul said as they approached the car. “You fired two people, promoted another, and became the owner of the restaurant in the same afternoon.”Lyon chuckled as he opened the car door.“Believe it, Paul. This is only the beginning.”Paul quickly entered the driver's seat, b

The entire KlinMeal staff stood in tense silence after Hector announced Lyon as the new owner of the restaurant. Star's face had lost all its color, while Theo kept shifting from one foot to another, unable to meet Lyon's eyes. Two nights ago, they had treated him like a penniless beggar, and now the man they had humiliated was the person who could decide whether they kept their jobs.Lyon did not rush to confront either of them. Instead, he leaned back in his chair and looked at Hector calmly. “Before we discuss anything else, I want the employment records, customer complaints, financial statements, and staff performance reports for the last two years.”Hector nodded immediately. “Of course, Mr. Dwayne. I have access to all of them, and I can have everything delivered to your new office within the hour.”Paul stood beside Lyon, quietly observing the employees. He could not help being impressed by his new employer. The man he had met outside the restaurant barely a day ago had been hu

“Besides, we have a new owner here. You must know how wealthy one must be before they can afford to buy a place like this. A lawsuit with us is just a suicidal mission.”Lyon chuckled. She was really talking about suing the new owner of the restaurant. That was bold of her. If she treated him this way, it meant it was not her first time treating a customer with such disrespect.“Ms. Star, you are risking your job by acting rudely toward us. I’d advise you to go do your job and bring our order,” Paul said firmly.Star let out a hysterical laugh. “The suit you are putting on must have given you some wings that Red Bull couldn’t. You walk in here with that pauper into our grand restaurant, and you’re telling me I am risking my job?”She folded her arms across her chest.“What are you going to do? Fire me? Do you think this is a twenty-dollar-meal place where I’d get fired because of some little boy’s word?”She took a closer look at Paul.“Wait…”Her eyes narrowed as recognition dawned o

“Sir, how did you manage to get the CEO to sell the property to you at such a low price?” Paul asked as he swerved into the corner of the street that led to the KlinMeal restaurant.“He is an acquaintance." Lyon chuckled to himself. He could not believe that the little favour he had done to the old woman would bring such profit. He maximised system X’s screen and looked at the user interface, then he clicked on his account balance. “Welcome back, Lyon Dwayne”“Balance: $100,007,000.00.”“Transfer to your personal bank account or exit screen.”He clicked on the option to transfer to his bank then he minimised the screen.”“We are here sir,” Paul announced as he parked the car. He quickly got down from the car and opened the door for Lyon.Lyon stepped out and went into the restaurant with Paul following him closely. “Boss, I just got a text from JohnDoe’s lawyer. He said he will be five minutes late because he is stuck in traffic at the intersection. So he asked that we kindly wait

The moment his eyes landed on Lyon, he stopped. His brows furrowed as he stared at him, clearly trying to place the familiar face.Lyon noticed the man's sudden hesitation and looked at him curiously. Then recognition flashed across the CEO's face.“You…”Lyon pointed at himself. “Me?”The man walked closer, his expression changing from confusion to disbelief.“You are the young man from the antique market.”Lyon's eyes widened slightly. He remembered the man immediately. It was the same man whose blind mother he had helped at the antique market the previous day.“Yes,” Lyon replied with a small smile. “I believe we met yesterday.”The CEO's face lit up.“You helped my mother find her way to me.”The receptionist's expression changed instantly. She looked between the two men, clearly confused by the familiarity.“You actually remember me?” Lyon asked.“How could I forget you?” the CEO replied warmly. “My mother wouldn't stop talking about you after you helped her.”Lyon scratched the

12pm, the next day.Paul and Lyon arrived at the JohnDoe Private Equity. Lyon’s way of getting back at the staff from the KlinMeal restaurant was pretty much simple: buy out the restaurant and become their boss. But Paul’s phone beeped, and he turned to Lyon. “Sir, the gym setup shipment just arrived at our doorstep, someone needs to sign the package off.”“Go back home and deal with that, I will handle things here. Come back to pick me when you are done.” Lyon instructed, then he got out of the car.He strolled into the equity firm and approached the receptionist.“Good afternoon, I have an appointment with the CEO for 12pm.”The woman who seemed to be pretending to not see him come over to her, looked up at him then slowly scanned his look.A good looking man, properly dressed with a good sense of fashion. He meant danger.“Our director is not on seat right now, kindly send a letter to reschedule an appointment.” She replied to him curtly.Lyon could tell she was lying. She had look
