06. Lady Vesper's Anger

Can only the Vesper family accept him as he is? Only the Vesper family?

Edward couldn't contain his smile. Of course, it was true in his current situation, but he had also given a lot to the Vesper family for Yris, for their marriage. However, this marriage had to end, and the beloved woman had found someone else she liked.

There was no reason for Edward to pretend and stay here any longer.

With his usual polite smile, Edward replied, "I know. But, after the divorce between Yris and me, it wouldn't be right for me to stay close to you."

Lady Vesper showed unhappiness on her face as she spoke again. "So, you still want to resign?"

"Yes." Edward showed no hesitation. "After signing the divorce papers between Yris and me, I officially resign from Vibe Entertainment."

"Fine, you can resign, but don't be sad when you don't get a better job than working at Vibe Entertainment!"

Edward nodded lightly, causing Lady Vesper to snort coldly. However, the old woman was still thinking of ways to make Edward stay in her company. After all, Edward's skills and work attitude were beneficial to their company.

Lady Vesper even considered making it difficult for Edward to find a job so that he would eventually return to Vibe Entertainment. For her, manipulating someone without a background like Edward was a minor issue.

Shortly after that, Yris arrived with the divorce papers in her hand. She met Edward and Lady Vesper.

"Here, I've changed it according to your requirements," Yris said as she sat down.

"What requirements?" Lady Vesper reacted first. When she heard the divorce conditions Edward wanted from Yris, she thought of many things, including Edward wanting a large sum of money or a house.

Certainly, Lady Vesper couldn't agree to that.

As Lady Vesper's only granddaughter and having a close relationship, Yris knew her grandmother's character. So, she quickly explained, "He only asked to change the contents of the divorce papers and didn't ask for anything else."

Even so, Lady Vesper still stared at her intently, making Yris sigh deeply in her heart. Then she explained more clearly, "I took the initiative to give him the villa and the car he's currently using, also guaranteeing a job in our company, but Edward refused, and he doesn't want that as compensation."

"Initiative to give him compensation, is it your money you're using?" Lady Vesper said sarcastically.

If it were said by someone other than a Vesper family member, it could be considered defending Edward and offending Yris. However, because it was Lady Vesper who said it, the meaning becomes clear that she doesn’t want to give anything to Edward.

“My dear grandmother, I just think Edward deserves compensation, especially since he has helped our company,” Yris said.

Lady Vesper wanted to argue, but she couldn’t say anything in front of Edward because she still wanted him to work under her again. However, that didn’t mean there was no one to express their feelings.

Monica hurriedly came in, saying, “Hey, that’s what he should do because he can’t give you anything, Yris. Edward can’t make you happy with money or feelings, so it’s only right for him to work for our family!”

“No need to think about giving him anything as compensation or whatever,” she added.

Everyone turned to look at her, but Monica casually sat down. Even if she knew Edward was there and listening to the sarcastic and harsh words, she didn’t care. From the beginning, she didn’t like her son-in-law. If it weren’t for her father, she wouldn’t have married her beloved daughter to such a worthless and useless man.

From start to finish, Edward didn’t say anything. He quietly listened to them and maintained a nonchalant expression as if he wasn’t the one being talked about.

“Mom, what are you doing here?” Yris asked, a slight frown on her forehead.

“What else? I want to witness this joyous event for you.” Monica took the most comfortable position and lifted her chin to glance at Edward. “You’re divorcing this useless man, I have to see for myself that he signs the divorce papers properly.”

Edward ignored her, took the divorce papers from the table, opened and read them again. Then, he signed them on the stamp.

“It’s done,” he said very calmly. He even maintained his polite smile.

Yris took the divorce papers and looked at them, nodding in satisfaction.

Before leaving, Edward said, “As I said, I officially resign after signing the divorce. Lady Vesper, Mrs. Monica Vesper, and... Miss Yris Vesper, I have your permission to leave.”

Without waiting for their response, Edward had already taken steps to leave. Once outside, he didn’t go to his car but continued walking towards the gate.

Outside the gate, there was already a luxurious car waiting to pick up Edward. The driver came out to welcome him and opened the door.

Edward entered almost without looking back. However, as soon as he got into the car, his expression became very cold, and he didn’t hide his gloomy emotions at all. Even the driver was made to tremble.

Not long after that, Edward asked, “Have my belongings been packed up?”

The driver responded promptly, “Yes, sir. Miss Jennifer has sent them to Brokeward city.”

Edward didn’t speak again, he leaned back and gazed out the window. Perhaps this was the last time he would see the landscape he had witnessed for the past 5 years. He sighed deeply and closed his eyes.

--

The next day, Edward didn’t show up at Vibe Entertainment, causing uproar and a bit of chaos. Lady Vesper even received complaint calls from some shareholders and company executives.

The reason was that Edward had officially resigned since last night. Before going to the Vesper family’s house to meet Lady Vesper and sign the divorce papers, he had already made preparations. He had even signed his own resignation agreement.

Even if no one agreed, he didn’t care. After all, he had gone far from the city and couldn’t be found by those Lady Vesper sent.

At the Vesper family home, Lady Vesper looked very angry and pointed at Secretary Mia. “Is it really true that no one has found him? He’s just an ordinary person now, doesn’t even have much money, doesn’t use a car or anything. How is it that no one knows his whereabouts, huh?”

In front of her, Secretary Mia lowered her head sadly but complained silently in her heart. It was precisely because Edward didn’t use a penny of the Vesper family’s money and valuable items that it was difficult for them to locate him.

However, Secretary Mia didn’t say that, she only dared to complain silently.

Shortly after, Bryan came in, panic-stricken. “Grandma, shareholders and company executives want to hold a meeting. They say the CEO position shouldn’t be vacant for too long.”

“Yes, I know that. Now, is there any information about that poor man?”

Bryan shook his head helplessly.

Lady Vesper stared at him flatly, but her heart was filled with anger and hatred. “How could... how could that useless man get me into trouble?”

Lady Vesper said this, holding her chest and breathing heavily. Old age truly limited her!
