Chapter Five - Daddy.

The hall erupted into the frenzied roar of crazy spectators slamming desks, tables and stacking up one money, placing bets on the impending fight.

The cage was unlocked. The drug induced girl, tall and advantaged with his heavy size, walked into the ring, her feet pounding the floor with every movement. The hall erupted into a fierce roar of anticipation and interest.

"Biggie!! Tear her apart!!"

"Crush her bone to dust!!"

The girl roamed the ring with a killing intent in her eyes.

She was sixteen with an intimidating height and size against a twelve year old Julie with a small size.

Julie was shoved out of the cage and yanked into the ring. She stumbled inside, the cuffs biting her wrist, making her wince.

The roar in the hall increased, making her heart race.

The cuffs were removed, clattering to the floor.

Her heart accelerated seeing the giant in the cage staring at her with predatory gaze. She stumbled back in fear, reaching for the door but it slammed shut to her face, the lock engaged, trapping her in the ring with the beast.

"No.. please...let me go..I want my mummy..." She cried, slamming the net frantically.

"Let me out!! Let me out!!" She screamed on top of her lungs, her veins bulging on her neck.

Instead of pity, her cry only fueled the excitement and anticipation in the hall.

"Look at her already crying for her daddy!!" One man threw her head backward and blurted out a sick ugly laugh. The people around him joined in, some banging the desk out of sheer adrenaline and excitement and mockery.

"Damn! She is weeping out her *ss already even before the fight starts!"

A strong arm grabbed Julie from behind and turned her. A heavy punch followed immediately, crashing into her belly. She staggered several steps backward. The ring titled before her eyes then she crashed heavily to the floor.

"Fight!! Fight!! Fight!!"

The hall erupted into chaotic chants.

The opponent didn't give her a chance to recover. She barrelled over to her, grabbed her collar, the fabrics ripped in her grip. With surprising strength, she lifted her up over her head and threw her across the ring. Julie collapsed heavily into the floor with a thud, She landed on her arm, her wrist cracked, her elbow joint dislocated.

"Ahhh..."

Julie whimpered, holding on herself as pain made her recoil. She clutched her arm, crying in pain and shedding tears while the hall went haywire like it was amusing seeing the kid break.

"Do something you little b*tch!!" Her opponent spat, provoking her. "Get up and fight me! Or I'll kill you and dump your broken body for your father to bury!!"

Hearing the statement hurled at her father ignited something inside Julie. An unknown strength gathered inside her. She pushed her body up from the floor despite the pain, clutching the dislocated arm.

She stared at her opponent with anger in her eyes.

"Do not talk about my father with your dirty big mouth." Julie fired back.

Her opponent paused, shocked by the bold retaliation.

"Get ready to die!" She roared, her eyes darkening with rage induced from drugs and anger.

She charged straight at Julie, her heavy feet pounding on the ring.

Julie didn't run. She got ready. She knew her size was a disadvantage against the giant but she wasn't going to let anyone insult her Dad.

As her opponent got closer to her, ready to pin her down, Julie charged forward too and skidded between her legs, appearing at her back. Before the girl could turn. She gritted her teeth through the pain and shoved her hard with both hands, her opponent stumbled backward and lost her footing, tilting back and crashing heavily to the floor under gravity.

The hall detonated with chants.

"Smallie!! Smallie!! Smallie!!"

The big girl pushed up back to her feet, her cheek burning with anger and humiliation.

"I'll eat you little thing!!" She snarled.

She charged at Julie with everything inside of her, her feet hammering heavily against the floor. This time around, Julie wasn't lucky. Her opponent gripped her head and slammed her face into the net.

Once!

Twice!

Thrice!!

The next bruised her face, bleeding her out. The hall continued to chant the opponent's name while Julie crumbled to the floor in exhaustion, her strength completely drained.

She was barely breathing as her chest moved up and down in the ragged odd breath. Her vision swarms with stars, darkness chasing after her consciousness with the promise to consume it.

The noises faded into a high-pitch sound in her ear, and through the fog glazed in her eyes, she saw the girl charging forward to end her, and the only thought that came to her mind was her father.

"Daddy... save me.." She whispered.

Then her eyes slowly closed, narrowing her vision.

Suddenly.

The heavy door of the auction room blasted open, tearing off the hinge as though it was jammed by a bulldozer, crashing into the sitting arrangements and bottles.

The walls vibrated to the powerful impact, chandeliers swayed violently, throwing chaotic lights across the room.

A dead silence fell into the room like the sudden awakening of a ghost.

Every head snapped to the door.

"What the hell was that?!"

"What the heck is going on?"

Through the shattered door and heavy dust, a lone figure stepped into the hall.

Draven Mercer.

He walked in, his reinforced boots crushing concrete to dust beneath him.

"Daddy..."

Julie's eyes finally shut.

"Did Natasha speak to you recently?"Miriam's mouth tightened."Yes. She came to see me at a café a few days ago."Alessia felt Draven's attention sharpen beside her."What did she want?" she asked."Information about you. She wanted to know whether you had ever spoken about the things that happened in that house, whether you still remembered certain incidents, and whether there was anything from your childhood that frightened you."Alessia went still."What did you tell her?""Nothing she could use against you." Miriam's voice grew firmer. "She offered me money. I refused it. Then she tried to make it sound as though she was concerned about you, but I knew better.""Did she mention the photograph?" Drav

CHAPTER 97 - Contacting Miriam Cole.Alessia had not slept well.By eight that morning, she was dressed and waiting in the palace's private study when Draven entered with Marcus. Draven glanced at her, then at the documents on the desk."You've been awake for a while.""I have something to do."He pulled out the chair beside her. "Tell me.""We need to speak with Miriam Cole."Marcus opened his notebook. "I've confirmed that she still lives in the western district. She's been working as a private housekeeper for a family there, and according to our preliminary checks, she hasn't left Crestfall in years.""Has anyone approached her?" Alessia asked."No," Marcus replied. "Not from our side."Alessia hesitated before looking at Draven. "Natasha approached her first."Draven's expression hardened slightly. "You're certain?""Not completely. But Miriam knows my stepfamily better than most people who worked in that house. If Natasha wanted information about my past, Miriam would be one of

She saw things that happened in that house, and she knew which people came and went. If someone has used details from my past to frighten me, Miriam may recognize the information or know who else remembers it.”Draven considered the suggestion.“Do you know where she is?”“No, but I may be able to find out.”“We'll have our team locate her.”Alessia shook her head. “I don't want armed men arriving at her home and frightening her before we even speak. If she's still the same person I remember, she'll be suspicious of anyone connected to the Monroe family.”“Then we'll arrange a discreet approach,” Draven replied. “You won't go alone, but we won't send a team to intimidate her either.”“Thank you.”He touched her cheek gently. “You don't have to thank me for listening to you.”Alessia smiled faintly. Finally, they had a direction to follow.Acros

Beside it sat the photograph of the old Monroe residence, its narrow side entrance bringing back memories Alessia would have preferred to leave buried. She had barely slept the previous night, but the fear that had initially overwhelmed her had given way to something else.Anger.Someone had reached into the most painful part of her past and used it to remind her that she was still vulnerable. Whoever had sent the letter expected her to become frightened, to withdraw into herself, or perhaps to beg Draven to keep her away from the world.Alessia had spent too many years living that way.She would not return to it now.Draven stood near the desk, speaking to Marcus about the initial security findings. When he finished, Marcus placed a thin folder beside the evidence sleeve and stepped back.“The

Chapter 94: The Message.Draven returned to the suite twenty minutes later. He found Alessia sitting in the same chair beside the window, but something about her posture made him pause before speaking. Her shoulders were stiff, and her hands were folded tightly in her lap. She looked up when he entered, attempting a smile that disappeared almost immediately.“What happened?” he asked.“Nothing.”Draven closed the door behind him.“Alessia.”She looked away.He crossed the room and crouched beside her chair, taking one of her hands in his. Her fingers were cold, and he could feel the tension in them.“You don't have to pretend with me,” he said quietly. “Tell me what happened.”For a moment, Alessia struggled to find the words. She did not want to frighten him unnecessarily, especially when he already had the escaped Crosses to worry about. Yet hiding the message would be worse, and she knew he would want to understand why someone had sent it.She reached for the letter and handed it t

Chapter 92: The MessageNatasha Monroe stared at the message on her phone, reading it for the third time before deleting it from the screen. It was a confirmation from Gideon that he had found no evidence of Miriam contacting Alessia recently, but that did not mean the woman had nothing useful to offer. Their meeting at the café had ended badly, and Natasha had spent most of the previous evening wondering how to get around Miriam's refusal to cooperate without exposing her intentions. She had expected the woman to be difficult, but she had not expected her to be so protective of Alessia. Miriam's loyalty was a problem, yet it had also revealed something Natasha could use. She smiled faintly. That kind of loyalty could be turned into a weapon, but she would not waste time trying to convince Miriam to help her. The woman had made her position clear, and another meeting would only make her suspicious. Natasha needed to move forward with what she already knew, and she knew enough abou
