It was a dark stormy night; a bolt of thunder crept into Jason’s room and shocked him awake. His eyes went wide open causing him to sit up on the bed.

He pulled the curtains to the side and took a peek out the window. He could hear the loud sounds of thunder and could also see the lightning strikes visible in the sky as they tormented the neighborhood.

The atmosphere brightened up occasionally due to the electrifying lightning strikes zipping across the night sky.

Eric was a skilled fighter, so Jayson had nothing to worry about; the only fear he had was that he might have to face him soon, which was something Jayson didn't want to happen. At the top of the stage, Eric was face to face with his opponent, the bell rang and the fight began, his opponent was a man who had a full beard, his beard was so full that Jayson was beginning to wonder how the man was able to remain in the army and not asked to shave his beards.Folding his hands to his chest, Jayson decided to enjoy the show that was put right before him. The full-bearded man was the first to make a move. He didn't attack, but he just stayed in his comfort zone, doing all kinds of acrobatics, twisting, turning, and throwing backflips.“Are you done?” Eric asked the man the same question that was on Jayson's mind. The question must have angered the man as he charged forward toward Eric; he ran like an animal, and as he approached Eric before he could strike, Eric, who was standing at a spo

The first round of the training felt like an eye-opener for Jayson; if he had any intentions of holding back, then after having a taste of the first round, he knew better to put his all on. “You did great?” Eric praised as Jayson walked down the stage. “I did?” Jayson replied as he approached Eric. Eric nodded, his arms folded to his chest “Although you seemed a little distracted at the beginning”Hearing this, Jayson raised a brow; the only distraction he got at the beginning of the fight was the weird, annoying footwork done by his opponent.“I guess so,” Jayson replied. “I'm glad you are done with the first round, unlike myself, who is yet to begin his first round”, Eric said in a playful tone. “When will you be up?” Jayson asked, his gaze shifting from Eric to the stage. “I have no idea, but soon” On the stage was a lady in uniform, standing with a smile on her face. She had just been called upon; at once, Jayson recognized her. The look on Jayson's face didn't go unnotice

Jayson wasn't going to allow being the first person to be called upon to the stage to get to him; he was determined to fight in the competition, which was why he really wanted to get picked during this training event. Jayson stepped onto the stage, his eyes locked onto his opponent. His opponent was a master sergeant just like Jayson. An average-sized man who looked a little skinnier than Jayson himself. Part of the rules, which Eric and Jayson had read earlier, says that in the first round of the fight, weapons are prohibited. The same could not be said for the third and second rounds; in the second round, only a specific weapon given to the fighter could be used. The third round was completely different as one would have to pick which weapon is suited for them. All weapons could be used apart from bows/arrows and guns, which were all long-range weapons; on the other hand, close-range weapons were allowed. Standing at the top of this stage, Jayson could hear the cheers from the pe

Seconds turned to minutes, minutes to hours, hours to days, days to weeks and weeks to months. Jayson grew fond of the general, he began to consider the general as a close one. Given that Jayson did not know his past life, the only family Jayson had at this point was the general, and maybe a few friends he had made in the army, one of them being Eric. Within a year, Jayson made so much progress in the army and was also promoted to a higher rank. He was promoted from the rank of a sergeant to a master sergeant. The general had respected Jayson's decision of not taking part in his little drug operations, though Jayson still escorts the general whenever he is out on such patrols. The weird dreams and nightmares kept coming, but Jayson had already gotten used to them; after relaying them to the general a few times, Jayson began to ignore them. Whenever he had such dreams or nightmares, he would push them out of his mind and focus on other positive stuff throughout the day. One thing

“Phew” Jayson heaved a sigh of relief as he walked out of his hiding position, beads of sweat already formed on his forehead. “That was close” the general commented, his back still resting on the tree. There was no way he could get to his feet by himself. Jayson helped the general to his feet and threw one of his hands over his shoulder so that the general could lean on him while they walked. “I can see you are becoming a very good soldier,” the general commented.“I was trained by the best; what else did you expect?” Jayson jokes, and they both burst out laughing. “We have to get out of here before they arrive,” Jayson added. “Do you have the briefcase?” the general asked, as his gaze went straight to Jason's hands. “Sure I do”, Jayson answered, and the general heaved a sigh of relief. The Duo continued walking until they came out at an open area, in front of them was the highway.“We have to get you to the hospital”, Jayson frowned, his eyes glued to the injury on the general'

The sound of gunshots resounded throughout the woods, as multiple bullets were continuously fired towards Jayson who had his back pressed against a tree. A part of the tree's back had already been ripped off due to the rain of bullets.Jayson was already a well-trained soldier and knew when it would be best to move to a different hide spot.He scanned the whole place until a nearby tree caught his attention, it was the easiest and quickest way he could get out of the current position he was in.“Damn it!” Jayson caused as he noticed that he was gradually beginning to get exposed as a bullet had just barbed off a chunk of the tree he was currently taking cover. “I need to make my move when they are out of bullets; best when they are reloading”, Jayson muttered; his breathing was heavy, and he knew to rescue the general, he would need to be calm and calculative. Looking in front of him, he could just easily run forward and navigate his way through the woods until he found himself out
