Chapter 9

"Good day, everyone! My name is Sophie, the female lead of this movie. I'm so sorry I'm late," she announced, her eyes scanning the room.

And then, her gaze landed on Jayson. Her eyes widened in surprise, and she took a step back.

"Wow, it's you!" she exclaimed.

Jayson stood up, a smile spreading across his face. "You are Sophie? I didn't know you were the female lead," he said, walking towards her.

“You're the one who saved me from my toxic boyfriend right?" she asked.

Jayson's face softened. "I'm just glad I was there to help," he replied, his voice low.

Sophie took a deep breath, composing herself. "I'm so happy to be working with you, Jayson. You're a hero, thank you for saving my life.”

Jayson chuckled. "I'm just an actor, Sophie. But I'm glad we get to work together," he responded, smiling.

One month later, the trailer for season one of the movie dropped, and Erica's brother, Alex, couldn't wait to show it to her.

"Hey, sis, you won't believe who's in this new movie," Alex said, holding up his phone.

Erica rolled her eyes. "Who?" she asked, not really caring.

"Jayson, your ex-husband. The movie trailer has already hit ten million views in just an hour and everyone is dying to see this movie." Alex said, a mischievous grin spreading across his face.

Erica's eyes widened in shock as she watched the trailer. There, on the screen, was Jayson, her ex-husband, looking more handsome than ever.

"What the...?" she trailed off, her voice shaking with anger.

Alex chuckled. "I know, right? I couldn't believe it either."

Erica's eyes narrowed. "Is he doing this to piss me off?" she asked, her voice venomous.

Alex shrugged. "Maybe. But honestly, sis, he looks really good. Maybe he's moved on and found something he's actually good at."

Erica's face twisted in anger. "He'll never be good enough, although he escaped death, he's more like a dead man." she spat.

But as she watched the trailer again, she couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy that Jayson is moving on just fine.

"Why is he doing this?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Alex shrugged. "Maybe he wants to show you what you're missing."

Erica's eyes flashed with anger. “Shut the fuck up.” She yelled at her brother.

Despite her initial disgust, Erica couldn't help but watch the trailer again and again. She was drawn to Jayson's charisma on screen, and the story itself seemed intriguing.

"This is actually good," she said, her voice laced with reluctance.

Alex raised an eyebrow. "You're impressed, aren't you?"

Erica scowled. "No, I'm just acknowledging that it's a decent piece of work."

Alex chuckled. "Decent? It's more than decent, sis. It's really good."

Erica shook her head. "I won't give him the satisfaction of admitting it."

"Fine," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "It's good, everyone is anticipating the movie. But I still don't care."

Alex laughed. "Sure you don't, sis. That's why you've watched the trailer five times already."

Erica's face flushed with anger, but deep down, she knew Alex was right.

Erica stormed into the company the next day, her anger boiling over. She demanded to see the manager, and when he arrived, she didn't hesitate.

"I want Jayson removed from the movie, my boyfriend is rich and he'll pull more audience than Jayson if you replace him. My boyfriend is a famous actor already, Jayson is just a newbie ." she spat, her voice venomous.

The manager, taken aback by her intensity, shook his head. "I'm afraid that's not possible, Erica. Jayson is a talented actor, and he's been doing a great job. Besides, we can't just change the male lead now.”

Erica's eyes narrowed. "He's a total jerk.”

The manager sighed. "I understand your concerns, but Jayson's casting was based on his merit, not his personal life."

Erica's face twisted in anger. "You're just going to make down my request? Remember how I helped you in the past."

The manager stood firm. "I know you once helped me. Jayson is good for this movie, and I won't remove him just because of your personal vendetta."

Erica's anger turned to fury. "Fine," she spat. "I'll make sure to ruin this movie's reputation. Mark my words."

The manager shrugged.

As Erica stormed out of the office, she came face to face with Sophie, who was standing at the entrance, sipping a cup of coffee.

Erica sneered, her eyes narrowing. "You must be Sophie, the nasty female lead of the movie."

Sophie's eyes widened in surprise. “Obviously, everyone could tell. I'm all over the internet, the movie trailer has been released so I obviously am Sophie.”

Erica's anger and jealousy simmered, fueling a sinister plan. She couldn't bear the thought of Sophie and Jayson sharing the screen together, and her obsession drove her to madness.

“Oh wow! Do you think you have made it because the movie trailer hit millions of views and thousands of comments? You are just an attention seeking bitch.”

“I hate your guts.” Erica spat.

As Erica continued to harass Sophie at the entrance, her anger and jealousy boiled over.

"You think you're so beautiful, don't you?" Erica sneered, her eyes fixed on Sophie's face. "You think you can just waltz in here and steal the fame away from me?"

Sophie stood her ground, despite Erica's intimidating tone. "I'm not trying to steal anything away from you, Erica. I'm just here to work on the movie.”

“I think you should visit the psychiatric hospital, something must be wrong with your head." Sophie added.

Erica's face twisted in rage. "You're not going to work on this movie," she spat. "At least, not with that face of yours."

Erica knew that an actress most important feature is their face and that any actress with a big scar on her face would definitely lose her career

With a swift motion, Erica pulled out her hands from her pocket and lunged at Sophie, intent on scarring Sophie's face with her fingers.

Sophie's eyes widened in horror as she realized Erica's intention.
