The loud splash and rising voices drew the attention of every diner in the restaurant. Vincent, still soaked and breathless from the cold water Jenny had thrown at him, was too stunned to move. His world had come crumbling down in seconds.

Then came the heavy thud of footsteps—his manager.

“Is there a problem here?” the man growled, eyes already narrowing at Vincent.

Before Vincent could explain, Jenny stepped forward, her tone sugar-sweet. “This waiter is harassing us, sir. He’s making a scene.”

Vincent’s heart sank. She was turning everything against him. The same girl he once held at his lowest… now dragging him down like he meant nothing.

“Harassing?” the manager repeated, glaring at Vincent with disgust. “What the hell is wrong with you? This is a restaurant, not your drama stage.”

“I didn’t do anything,” Vincent said quietly, his voice barely above a whisper. “She’s the one who threw water at me. I didn’t even—”

Billy stood up, smirking. “Liar. He’s been highly unprofessional. Told me she’s his girlfriend and caused a whole mess.”

Jenny folded her arms, staying silent now, content to watch him drown.

The manager let out a mocking scoff. “Are you blind, Vincent? Do you seriously think a girl like this would date you?”

Billy chuckled, rubbing salt into the wound. “Yeah. Get real, man. You’re a broke-ass waiter with no future. She deserves a man, not a charity case.”

Vincent bit down on his lip to stop the sting. Jenny had always defended him—at least he thought she did. Her family mocked him, her friends belittled him… but he endured it all for her.

Billy stepped closer, puffed up like a rooster. “I deserve a proper apology from this sore loser.”

The manager nodded sharply. “You heard him. Apologize. Or leave—and consider your rotten ass fired.”

Jenny smirked, tucked beneath Billy’s arm like a prize.

Vincent slowly removed his apron, folding it with shaky hands. “I won’t apologize for doing nothing wrong,” he said coldly. “Fire me if you want. I’m done with this circus.”

Then he tossed the apron on the floor and walked out, not looking back even once.

The night air slapped him harder than Jenny’s betrayal. His shoulders drooped, his eyes heavy. One of his two part-time jobs—gone. His girlfriend—gone. Everything he thought he could rely on… shattered.

He leaned against a streetlamp on the empty sidewalk, fists clenched. His lips trembled as he cursed, “Is this all I’m worth? A loser, broke, and unwanted? Why does life keep kicking me when I’m already down?”

Tears threatened, but he blinked them back. He had to stay strong… for his mother. Her hospital bills were due soon. And now he had nothing to pay with.

Just then, his phone buzzed. Expecting a hospital reminder, he pulled it out.

But what he saw made his breath hitch.

{Your account has been credited with $10,000,000,000.00}

His eyes bulged. “Ten… billion? What?!” He rubbed his eyes and looked again. Still there. He counted the zeros with shaking fingers. “Three… six… nine… no way!”

As he tried to grasp the surreal moment, his phone rang again.

“H-Hello?” he answered, voice cracking.

“Hello, young master,” a calm male voice replied.

Vincent blinked. “Uh… I think you transferred money to the wrong account. I swear, I’ll go to the bank and return every cent. I—I’m not a thief—”

The man chuckled softly. “It’s not a mistake, sir.”

Vincent’s heart skipped. “W-What? Who are you?”

“My name is Macul Forbes.”

Vincent’s jaw dropped. “Wait. Macul Forbes? The Macul Forbes? The billionaire tycoon?”

“Yes,” the man replied calmly.

Vincent blinked in appallment. “Is this a prank or…” he trailed off, scratching his head.

“I assure you, this is no prank. I know you’re in shock, but I would appreciate it if we could meet. There’s much to explain.”

Vincent staggered back against the wall. He stared at the phone screen as if it might change into something else. “O-Okay. Yes. I’ll come. Where?”

“Please meet me at the VIP floor of the Grand Fidel Hotel. Can you be there within the hour?”

Vincent swallowed hard. “Yes, sir. I’ll be there.”

“Good,” Macul said. “Thank you, young master.”

The call ended.

And Vincent stood in the street, breathless, stunned, his life flipped in a way no one—especially Jenny—could have imagined.

He dashed through the streets, his soaked clothes clinging to his skin, the weight of everything still sinking in. He had ten billion dollars in his account and an invitation from Macul Forbes himself. But first, he needed to look presentable.

Panting, he reached his small apartment and rushed inside, heading straight to his room. His fingers trembled as he peeled off the damp shirt.

Just as he reached for a towel, the door creaked open.

“Seriously, Vincent?” a sharp voice said.

He spun around, eyes wide. His roommate, Lisa, stood at the door with a raised brow and arms folded. Her eyes narrowed at his bare chest.

“You couldn’t wait to flirt half-naked again?” she snapped.

“W-What?” Vincent grabbed his shirt, covering himself awkwardly. “No, no—it’s not like that. I didn’t know you were back.”

Lisa rolled her eyes but couldn't peel them away from his perfect toned body. “You always say that.”

“I’m not flirting! I was just… I got drenched at work. I’m changing.”

She tilted her head, her suspicion fading into mild curiosity. “What happened this time?”

Vincent hesitated, forcing a smile. “It’s a long story. One I don’t want to relive.”

“Fine,” she muttered, closing the door. “Just don’t drip all over the place.”

As the door shut, Vincent exhaled deeply. That was close. His heart still raced—not from the awkwardness, but from the storm brewing inside him. He couldn’t tell her. Not yet.

He pulled on a clean white shirt, dark jeans, and his best shoes. Adjusting his collar in the mirror, he stared at his reflection, trying to find clarity.

“Get it together,” he muttered to himself, then grabbed his phone and wallet.

Moments later, he stepped out of the apartment, heading straight for the Grand Fidel Hotel—with a heart full of questions and a future about to change forever.

Macul cleared his throat gently, his tone still warm with excitement. “Young Master Vincent, I believe it’s time you come with me to Maxine Corps. You need to be properly introduced to the board and the major employees. They deserve to meet their true CEO.”Vincent nodded slowly, his mind still reeling. “I will. But… I want to see my sister first.”A light smile curved Macul’s lips. “I had no doubts you’d say that. You two were so fond of each other. I believe when she sees you—when she feels your presence—it will spark something within her. A miracle might happen.”Vincent’s heart clenched. Just the thought of having a sister lying in a hospital bed, in a coma, sent a wave of protectiveness through him. “Then I’ll see her soon.”“Of course.” Macul reached into his suit pocket and pulled out a golden card. It shimmered beneath the suite's crystal chandelier. “In the meantime, please accept this. It’s the access card to this entire suite. You can stay here comfortably until I arrange t
