CHAPTER TWO

The sudden news sent the entire villa into an abrupt silence.

 

"What did you just say?" Khloe was the first person to rush forward.  

 

"I was sent by the doctor to bring you." The woman was scared to go on. "I- I- his health is declining fast."

 

"Grandpa's health is declining?" Khloe exclaimed, a horrific expression pacing her face.

 

As soon as she looked away to the side like someone who wanted to cry, she quickly stole a sly smile. The decline in the health of her grandfather would mean acquiring her share of the inheritance as soon as possible. She couldn't wait.

 

Anna on the other hand was feeling really troubled. She was shocked and heartbroken. This wasn't because she cared, but because if anything were to happen to her Grandpa now that the company was growing bigger, she might lose everything she's being toiling

 

for all the years. Since she was yet to secure a full control of the company.

 

To Davien, losing Sir Benjamin would be like losing his own grandfather. His ray of hope in the family was about to die? He was totally heartbroken.

 

"What are you waiting for! Let's leave at once." Anna snapped.

 

Davien also dropped the toothbrush tools in his hand and wanted to go with them.

 

"Where do you think you are going?" She snapped at him.

 

"To see ---"

 

“Are you deaf or just plain stupid?!” Khloe snapped. “Anna told you to clean, so clean it right!”

 

Davien was clueless, not sure of how to respond. He wished dearly to go and check up on Sir Benjamin too, but this cruel fate wouldn't him.

....

 

In one of the VIP wards of the renowned Rhying Morry Hospital was an elderly man lying on a bed. His eyes were shut and his both hands crossed on his stomach.

 

The door of the ward opened and two ladies rushed in. Anna and Khloe Benjamin.

 

"Grandpa!!!" Khloe burst out in tears as soon as she ran into the ward. "Oh my God, grandpa! I don't want to lose you."

 

Khloe hugged her grandfather from the side, sitting on the bed as she bathed his cloth in her tears.

 

"Grandpa? What happened? How are you feeling?" Anna was more sober and concerned as she moved closer.

 

Ever since their grandfather has been hospitalized, this was the first time they would come visiting.

 

Looking around, Anna was surprised not to see any doctor in sight. Her brows furrowed. The woman who came home told them that her grandfather's health was declining. Weren't there supposed to be a hundred

 

doctors with him?

 

"Where are the doctors?" Her face stiffened. "Where the hell are they? What are they thinking leaving you all by yourself? What if something goes wrong?"

She was not having enough of the rage.

 

"In fact, I'm going to give them an earful! How dare they treat my grandfather like that!" She stormed off, headed towards the door.

 

"Anna." Sir Benjamin called.

 

Hearing the old man's voice, Anna quickly returned to the bed.

 

"I asked them to leave me be. I needed some time alone." He explained.

 

"Grandpa..." Anna trailed off. "You are scaring me. You sound weak. What is wrong? What did they say is wrong?"

 

Sir Benjamin received the question, but something else seized his interest.

 

 

"Where is Davien?" The old man asked, his eyes squinting.

 

"Huh?" Anna was taken off guard by the question. That was the last thing she expected to hear from her grandfather.

 

Everyday, Davien would visit Sir Benjamin with different herbal remedies that he thought would be helpful for the health of the man. But today, he's nowhere to be found? The old man was indeed concerned.

 

"Uhmm... He is busy." Anna stuttered. "He's caught up with somethings. In fact, he's been at it all day, so ---"

 

"I want to see him." Sir Benjamin's tone was tough this time. "Right now!" He added.

 

Seeing the attitude of her grandfather, Anna knew too well to try and convince him otherwise.

 

"Khloe. Go and bring him." Anna said reluctantly.

 

If Khloe had a choice, of course she would refused point blank, but she dared not. She left at once.

 

Back in the villa,even though Davien was deeply worried about the old man's health, he still had no choice but to follow Anna’s orders and clean up this ridiculous mess.

 

Suddenly, the screeching of a halted car jolted him out of the thoughts. Soon enough, someone barged into the room, a hostile air accompanying them.

 

"Confess!!!" Khloe yelled as she came to a stop.

 

"Huh?" Davien was already startled by the way she barged in, and now this?

 

"Oh, no! Don't you dare play the fool with me!" She moved closer to him. "Just confess!!!"

 

"What the hell are you talking about?" Davien didn't even know what to say.

 

"Was that how you successfully brainwashed my grandfather? Because I don't see any other reason

 

why he likes someone like you."

 

Seeing that she was way in her head as usual,

 

"I don't even know what... Why are you back? Didn't you go to see grandfather? How's he feeling?" Davien had other worries.

 

"What grandfather, you bane! He's my grandfather, not yours, you slagger!"

 

"Okay, but are ---"

 

"Get inside the car now before I bring that car in here and run you over!!!"

 

After those last words from her, she stormed off. Lost but sharp, Davien wanted to see where this would lead. He decided to follow her.

 

When they arrived at the hospital, Davien felt heartbroken when he saw the state of Sir Benjamin. This old man who was pale-looking and fading was the closest thing to a family that Davien had. Now, was he going to lose him? A lump formed in his throat.

 

 

"Sir..." Davien muttered as he came to sit close to the old man.

 

Sir Benjamin gazed at him intently. The both of them alone in the room, "Davien..."

 

"Sir, I'm here..." Davien was moved almost to tears just staring at the man.

 

"Will you become the head of Benj Groups?"
