Later that night, everyone had gone to bed.

Only Elijah was left, and Serena was busy with the documents she had brought from work that day.

She had to finish before resuming work as CEO the next day.

He waited until she was done and followed her upstairs to her room, but when he tried to enter, she slammed the door in his face.

"Your room is opposite mine. Be grateful I'm allowing you to lay your head here," Serena's voice came from behind the door.

"Don't husband and wife sleep together in the same room?" Elijah asked in an aggrieved tone.

"I'm leaving early for work tomorrow. If you're not ready, don't blame me for leaving," He heard her say, and what followed was the click noise of the light switch.

She had gone to sleep.

This woman was really cold-hearted.

Elijah dragged himself to the opposite room and immediately collapsed on the comfortable bed.

When was the last time he actually had a good sleep, or better put, a good place to put his head?

During his training, he slept standing most of the time or in a deep meditation position.

Back when he was the heir of the Langston, he had the best room in the Estate and his family would make sure he was in good health.

He closed his eyes and the faces of members of his family appeared in his mind.

"Father.... Mother.... Brothers.... Good Uncle David.... Aunty Fiona who made the best dishes... Grandpa.... Little Eva.... Butler Timothy...." He could no longer continue speaking as tears filled his eyes and burned downward.

Their deaths felt like yesterday.

They were all good people, none deserved to die and be fed to wild creatures as a meal.

Morning came fast, Serena purposely woke up earlier than usual and prepared to leave for work.

But when she opened the door, she was shocked to see Elijah in a meditation position.

He rose up the moment he sensed her presence, "Good Morning, Wi-- Serena"

If he wasn't fast enough just now, she might have threatened to kill him again.

Serena glanced at the new outfit he had on.

They didn't look branded, just plain and simple.

"I found this shirt and jeans in the room. If they are important to you then--"

She interrupted him, "They belong to my father. He used to wear them a decade ago. Now they're useless"

Without any more words, she walked past him and he hurried after her.

When they came downstairs, Serena was shocked to see Old Master DiLaurentis waiting in the living room, engrossed in the book he was reading.

"Your family sleeps like they own the world, Serena, but you, you impress me," The old man said and lifted his head in the direction of the stairs.

When he saw Elijah, his expression lightened.

"Son-in-law, you two must have had the best of nights today" Seeing them together, Old man David could only believe that which was in his heart.

Serena gritted her teeth but didn't allow the displeasure to reach her face.

"Why are you here Grandpa? Isn't it too early?" She quickly walked down the stairs but to her disappointment,

"I'm here to run over a few things with my Son-in-law. I'm afraid he won't be able to join you at work today"

Serena wasn't sure how to react.

Of course, she didn't want Elijah at her workplace, but more importantly, she is curious why her Grandfather favors him easily.

Could the forgotten Langston family still have hidden wealth somewhere?

She had to investigate.

"I'll be on my way then" She left.

Now, only Elijah and the old man were left.

"I don't want Serena to keep suspecting when you call me that. Let's go by my name in the future" Elijah was the first to speak.

The old man nodded, "I know this is hard for you but you have to forgive my little Serena on my behalf. She can be stubborn. Only if she knows you were the apprentice of the Grandmaster on the mount--"

One sharp glance from Elijah and the old man's tongue was tied.

The room became extremely heated like an oven and the lights flickered.

"Forgive me for the slip..." The old man coughed nervously, "I'm just saying, if Serena knows you're good for us perhaps she will be gentle on you"

"Life has been hard on me, Master DiLaurentis. I don't need it easy. As long as I'm here, no one will hurt your family, especially young Miss DiLaurentis, that I can promise but never mention the mountain to anyone, not even Serena"

This old man was one of the few who truly knew where he had been all these fifteen years.

He was also one of the few who had knowledge of his master, the man who saved him that night.

A mysterious man who separated himself from the world and always had a straw hat covering his head.

"I won't make that mistake" The old man bowed apologetically.

"What problem brings you this early?" Elijah's countenance returned to that of an ordinary man and the temperature in the room dropped back to normal.

"Forgive my old brain, I should have told you yesterday. When I remembered in my sleep, I hurried down here." He sat properly and spoke in a low tone, "All of the Langstons might have been brutally killed back then, but just a year ago, I found out about a captive girl held by the Blackwood family. She is like a slave in their hands. I paid one of their servants much to tell me about her. Turns out she was only 3 years old when the Blackwoods found her hiding at your family's Estate. My family already suffered loss from stealing your mother's body, I hope you understand why I couldn't do anything "

Elijah's eyes burned, "You've played your part, I'll handle things from here and now"

He steps around the couch in the direction of the door.

The old man turned around to say something but all that remained was the gust of wind in the air.

He exhaled heavily.

The intense pressure around that young man had left with him.

"He's like a god.." He mumbled in deep awe.

At the Blackwood Estate, the great hall was rather buzzing with activities early that morning, with the eldest son of the family, Tyler Blackwood, at the head of the large oak table that stretched across an enormous radius.

Tyler Blackwood is the heir to the fortune of his family, but unlike his father, Theo, the current head of the family, he isn't intelligent.

He, Tyler, grew to the wealth his parent have accumulated from heinous crimes and betrayal of close business associates.

Fifteen years ago, the Blackwoods used to be an ordinary struggling family that dealt with timber and had a major client who never failed to purchase from them.

The Langston Family.

Despite the kindness of the Langstons, the Blackwoods had betrayed them by sneaking assassins into the Langston Estate under the pretense of delivering timber.

The Blackwoods were one of the five families that facilitated the fall of the Langstons.

Immediately after the fall, the Blackwoods mysteriously became significant in Brooklyn Heights, and their business started to have foreign investors as well.

Everything seemed too strange and questionable, but no one dared to speak.

Anyone who dares speak about the atrocity done to the Langstons vanishes within a day.

"Don't forget your place here, you are the dog of the Blackwood!" Tyler laughed insanely from the head of the table as he threw crumbs of bread at the foot of a teenage girl in dirty, tattered clothing.

Around her neck was a dog collar with sharp spikes and attached to the collar was a long silver chain with an end in his palm.

The young girl was curled up in a ball, shivering with her extremely black long, black hair covering her entire face down to her shoulders.

"If you bark louder than you did yesterday, I'll throw you a bigger piece, I might even add some beef." Tyler grinned, but the young captive did not say anything and continued to shiver.

Around her were breadcrumbs previously thrown which she refused to eat.

"Young Master, I think she is believing in her stupid young master again. If you allow me to beat her properly, she'll chew stones with bread for you" The Butler whispered to Tyler Blackwood.

Since Tyler was the future leader, they had to suck up to him.

Tyler yanked the chain and the helpless young girl was sent sprawling across the floor with bleeding around her neck.

He puffed his chest and declared arrogantly, "For fifteen years, my father's whip is the only language you understand. Your young master and his useless family died wailing like dogs. In this place, I'm the only young master, and you must obey me!"

Andrew clenched his fist and took a step back instinctively. He didn't think the intruder could survive such electricity, or even kill the two capable men he had with him."You! Don't you dare think you can do whatever you want here. You may have killed people today, but let me tell you: I'm associated with the great Ainsworth family and I'm the right-hand man of Madam Ainsworth. If anything happens to me today, you'll have only yourself to blame."Now that it had come to this, how could he not use the name of his employer against this strong person? The Ainsworths were well respected and feared in Brooklyn Heights."All the more reason to kill you today," Elijah said coldly, his eyes flickering. He had been planning to pay the Ainsworths a visit soon enough, but perhaps sending them a message first was best."You!" Andrew's face distorted.Officer Mark smirked as he rolled his shoulders, letting the twin blades slide freely. "Don't be scared of his nonsense, Andrew. As long as I'

How could they have the heart to do this? The two burly men looked at each other and back to Elijah before slowly revealing the highly charged stun rod they had. What better answer did Elijah Langston need? The two men charged the rod to its maximum with electricity that could stop someone's heart on the spot if touched. One took a step and snorted coldly. "What if we are responsible? What are you going to do today?"The other stepped forward with a sly smirk that almost reached his ears.
