Elijah also picked up the ink and pressed his signature on the certificate.

"I'll protect you, Serena. I promise on my life," He tried to hold her hand, but she gently slapped him off.

How dare he pretend to be great?

Old man DiLaurentis was engrossed in the certificate to notice this.

The smile on his face grew wide and this surprised the members of the family.

They had never seen him this happy before.

If Serena were getting married to a powerful man, they would understand his joy, but this....

"This marriage has my blessings, "The old man announced and then added, "I'm promoting you from Director at the health department to the CEO of the branch, consider this my gift to you, Serena"

She couldn't believe her ears.

Over the years, she had submitted a lot of letters to get herself promoted but the old man never even bothered to take a look.

Now, he's making her the CEO of the DiLaurentis branch company and she didn't even ask.

Was this a compensation for marrying her off to a riff-raff?

Despite her current anger, she still said respectfully to him, "Thank you for the consideration, Grandpa. I promise to do my best"

She could not reject his gift because she truly wanted that position.

As the CEO, she could do more and gain more respect from her peers.

"Also, I need you to introduce your husband to the family business. He could replace you as the director of the health department"

On hearing this, Serena's face turned ashen and she couldn't stop herself from protesting this time, "Director? What's his medical certification?"

To her, it was obvious that Elijah knew nothing about medicine.

If her Grandfather had mentioned security or a gatekeeper, she wouldn't have argued.

"Do you want to go against my wish?" The old man appeared to be getting angry.

Elijah stepped in quickly to say, "My wife speaks sense. I'll just join the health department as an apprentice and learn"

The medical practices he was well-versed in could be different from theirs.

More importantly, he didn't want his new wife to argue with the old man.

The old man appeared to become calm after hearing Elijah, "If that's what you think is best for you, son-in-law, then I won't stop you. Take your husband home, Serena"

With that, he beckoned to two guards, and they helped him out of the great hall.

The commotion returned as everyone began to give their opinion about the old man's decision.

Serena's eyes filled with tears as she ran quickly and hugged her mother.

"Mom, I want to die? Why did Grandpa shame me this way?"

Margaret held her tightly and whispered, "Don't talk about death. My father doesn't know what he's doing. Give me a few days, I'll talk to him and he'll change his mind"

"Mom, are you sure about this?" She sobbed.

"Mom is Grandpa's favorite daughter. He will surely listen" The one who spoke was Serena's younger sister.

She didn't look like Serena but had the same height even though she was four years younger.

"That's right," Margaret said proudly, "Once I show your Grandfather better men. He would denounce your marriage to this trash"

She glared dangerously at Elijah, who was still in the same spot.

"Mom, I don't want to get married" Serena protested.

"Do you want to grow old alone?" Margaret scolded her daughter, "I'll bring one of your rich suitors to my father. Once you agree to marry him, we'll throw this one away to the street where he came from"

Her eyes shifted from Elijah to the middle-aged man beside her on the table.

He wasn't contributing to the conversation and was engrossed in the reels on his phone instead.

"Don't you have a spine?" She snatched the phone from him, "Our daughter was just tied to a scum and you just sit here. How can you call yourself a man of this family?"

"Am I supposed to argue with your father?" Richard asked lazily.

He got up to his feet, "I'm going home. Welcome to our family, son-in-law"

Richard glanced at Elijah before making his way out of the hall.

"Richard, stop right there! Don't even think you can leave" Margaret's body shook with rage as she hurried after him.

Serena and her sister also made their way after their parents.

Elijah was left standing alone in the hall.

From what he just watched happen, Margaret was the one who had the energy in the family and not Richard.

He was only a husband in name.

Would this be what his relationship with Serena turns out to be?

He must prove to her that he's worthy to be by her side and help her with her problems.

The housekeeper soon appeared by Elijah's side and said to him, "I'll take you to your wife's house in the Estate if you don't mind"

Elijah went with him and in no time, they arrived at a luxurious apartment behind the main Estate building.

Elijah went in while the housekeeper left.

As he entered, the eyes of his new family all turned to him from the dining table where they all sat.

Wasn't it just a few minutes ago when Margaret was fighting with her husband?

"You actually found your way here. I thought you would get lost and get bitten by the yard dog," Rosalie, Serena's sister, said with a hint of disgust.

Serena didn't even glance at him and continued eating as Margaret added to her plate.

"Son-in-law, you must be hungry. Join us" Richard invited Elijah over, tapping on the empty seat by his side.

Margaret's face scrunched up and she protested, "I cook for my family not this nobody"

"Just give him some food, Mom." Serena intervened before her parent began to fight again.

"Thank you wifey," Elijah said full of smiles but didn't expect her to reprimand him immediately,

"Don't call me that nonsense. I'm Serena. If you call me that nonsense at the office, I'll kill you"

He couldn't believe his ears.

Was this how a newlywed couple was supposed to live?

She always threatened to kill him at any given opportunity.

All these years, he had endured the hard training from his master with one goal in mind, to take vengeance for the atrocities done to his family.

But he must abide by the rule set by the master who had saved his life.

Punish only those who truly deserve punishment.

Kill only those who truly deserved to be killed.

When he returned, he found out that the DiLaurentis had suffered greatly because they had stolen the body of his mother and buried her honorably.

Her body would have been thrown into a river filled with wild creatures just like the other members of his family.

Now that he was married into their family, they would suffer no more.

Anyone who dares to bully them.... will surely die at his hands.

The Great Hall descended into pure chaos as the remaining disciples of the Iron Crescent Sword Sect completely lost their minds to bloodlust.Dozens of razor-sharp blades formed a suffocating, inescapable net of steel, all descending upon Elijah Langston at the exact same time. They attacked like a pack of starving wolves, abandoning all defensive forms in favor of sheer, overwhelming violence. Swords slashed horizontally toward his neck, thrust forward aiming to pierce his heart, and swept low to sever his legs. The air was filled with the terrifying whoosh of cutting steel and the maddened roars of men seeking to avenge their fallen Branch Leader. A coordinated strike designed to chop a man into a hundred unrecognizable pieces in the span of a single breath.“Damn it! Fall back or you’ll get caught in the crossfire!” one of the gunmen positioned at the rear of the hall cursed with a loud, frustrated voice. The mercenaries all had their military-grade assault rifles raised and saf

The result of the violent sword technique was blinding: Elijah Langston was completely enveloped in a barrage of glowing crescent lights.Explosive noise ripped up into the air, filling the entire room with a deafening noise of shattering marble and splintering wood, and leaving everyone in the Great Hall stunned by the destructive result. The disciples of the Iron Crescent Sword Sect couldn’t help but gloat upon seeing what had just happened.“He didn’t even stand a chance. All it took was a single technique attack from Branch Leader Marco!”“Hmph! Can any outsider stand a chance against our sect’s special Golden Crescent Annihilation technique? He’ll be lucky if there’s anything left of his body to scrape off the floor tonight.”“So, this is the guy who’s giving people trouble under the name Insolent Expert? Even I would be able to handle him. He doesn’t even come close to Leader Marco. True strength doesn’t lie in sneak attacks and running the mouth!”They all said this while looki

  • Chapter 372

Unlike the deceased Mathias, who had tried to close the gap before executing his strike, Marco was on an entirely different level of mastery. As his body tore through the air, so did the heavy sword in his hand. He began swiping and slashing in a series of complex, bending arc movements while still in mid-air.What followed each devastating strike was a terrifying outburst of pure internal energy erupting from the blade. It perfectly followed the arc shape of his sword movements, manifesting as blinding, yellow crescent waves that glowed with a lethal luminescence. The energy blades were moving far too fast to be easily tracked by the naked eyes of an ordinary person. These various crescent energy waves tore through the air with a dangerous, explosive force. They collided with the massive, oak table situated at the center of the room, cleanly slicing through the thick, centuries-old wood as if it were wet tissue paper. Unimpeded, the glowing arcs headed straight for Elijah, who stoo

  • Chapter 371

Elijah Langston looked down at the discarded steel resting near his shoes. He didn’t flinch, or even scramble for the weapon. He simply raised his head, a faint, mocking smile playing on his lips as he looked Marco dead in the eyes.“You rehearsed that in front of a mirror, didn’t you?” Elijah asked, his tone dripping with patronizing amusement. “Be honest. We won’t let a word of this outside of here, right, guys?”He casually gestured toward the wall of heavily armed hostiles standing in front of him, treating them like an audience at a bad comedy show.Marco’s eyes turned a violent, bloodshot red, completely abandoning whatever composure he had left. His grip tightened around the hilt of his broadsword until his knuckles popped, the razor-sharp tip pointing directly at Elijah’s chest. “You!? Do you think your sharp tongue can save you tonight? Do you think I’ll turn my back and allow you to sneak-attack me? Hmph! That’s not happening.”The tactical mercenaries were losing their pati

  • Chapter 370

The moment the name “Elijah Langston” left Marco’s trembling lips, the atmosphere in the Great Hall changed. The sect members who hadn’t yet drawn their weapons scrambled backward, the sharp shing of steel ringing out in a panicked chorus as they took up desperate defensive stances. Behind them, the tactical mercenaries clicked the safeties off their military-grade assault rifles.Dozens of black muzzles and gleaming sword tips locked directly onto the young man standing by the throne. They had not expected Senior Mathias’s gruesome, effortless death a moment ago. But now, they realized their fatal error. This wasn’t a homeless squatter or a confused street rat—this was the Insolent Expert, the one they had been sent to butcher. Yet, looking at him… was he really this young? Was this casually dressed twenty-something really the nightmare currently causing trouble for the great families of Brooklyn Heights?“Insolent Expert? I find that title rather offensive,” Elijah noted, his tone

  • Chapter 369

The group of sect members hailed him with exaggerated praise. They all leaned forward in eager anticipation, because the Phantom Five-Strike Severance was a legendary move that only a few senior disciples of the Iron Crescent Sword, in all of Sorevia had perfected. It was said to be capable of slicing a thick bamboo stalk into five equal parts in the blink of an eye. Now, they were going to witness it used on a real human being.“Watch and learn, you inexperienced juniors! I won’t repeat myself!” Mathias warned, his gaze narrowing into focus. With a sharp exhale, Mathias leaned forward, and his body practically vanished. He tore through the air at a terrifying, explosive speed that only his fellow sect members were trained enough to track. To the gunmen in the back, he appeared to simply vanish. In one second, Mathias was standing with the group; in the next, he had arrived directly in front of the golden throne where the young man was still seated, entirely engrossed in his writing.
