Elijah also picked up the ink and pressed his signature on the certificate.

"I'll protect you, Serena. I promise on my life," He tried to hold her hand, but she gently slapped him off.

How dare he pretend to be great?

Old man DiLaurentis was engrossed in the certificate to notice this.

The smile on his face grew wide and this surprised the members of the family.

They had never seen him this happy before.

If Serena were getting married to a powerful man, they would understand his joy, but this....

"This marriage has my blessings, "The old man announced and then added, "I'm promoting you from Director at the health department to the CEO of the branch, consider this my gift to you, Serena"

She couldn't believe her ears.

Over the years, she had submitted a lot of letters to get herself promoted but the old man never even bothered to take a look.

Now, he's making her the CEO of the DiLaurentis branch company and she didn't even ask.

Was this a compensation for marrying her off to a riff-raff?

Despite her current anger, she still said respectfully to him, "Thank you for the consideration, Grandpa. I promise to do my best"

She could not reject his gift because she truly wanted that position.

As the CEO, she could do more and gain more respect from her peers.

"Also, I need you to introduce your husband to the family business. He could replace you as the director of the health department"

On hearing this, Serena's face turned ashen and she couldn't stop herself from protesting this time, "Director? What's his medical certification?"

To her, it was obvious that Elijah knew nothing about medicine.

If her Grandfather had mentioned security or a gatekeeper, she wouldn't have argued.

"Do you want to go against my wish?" The old man appeared to be getting angry.

Elijah stepped in quickly to say, "My wife speaks sense. I'll just join the health department as an apprentice and learn"

The medical practices he was well-versed in could be different from theirs.

More importantly, he didn't want his new wife to argue with the old man.

The old man appeared to become calm after hearing Elijah, "If that's what you think is best for you, son-in-law, then I won't stop you. Take your husband home, Serena"

With that, he beckoned to two guards, and they helped him out of the great hall.

The commotion returned as everyone began to give their opinion about the old man's decision.

Serena's eyes filled with tears as she ran quickly and hugged her mother.

"Mom, I want to die? Why did Grandpa shame me this way?"

Margaret held her tightly and whispered, "Don't talk about death. My father doesn't know what he's doing. Give me a few days, I'll talk to him and he'll change his mind"

"Mom, are you sure about this?" She sobbed.

"Mom is Grandpa's favorite daughter. He will surely listen" The one who spoke was Serena's younger sister.

She didn't look like Serena but had the same height even though she was four years younger.

"That's right," Margaret said proudly, "Once I show your Grandfather better men. He would denounce your marriage to this trash"

She glared dangerously at Elijah, who was still in the same spot.

"Mom, I don't want to get married" Serena protested.

"Do you want to grow old alone?" Margaret scolded her daughter, "I'll bring one of your rich suitors to my father. Once you agree to marry him, we'll throw this one away to the street where he came from"

Her eyes shifted from Elijah to the middle-aged man beside her on the table.

He wasn't contributing to the conversation and was engrossed in the reels on his phone instead.

"Don't you have a spine?" She snatched the phone from him, "Our daughter was just tied to a scum and you just sit here. How can you call yourself a man of this family?"

"Am I supposed to argue with your father?" Richard asked lazily.

He got up to his feet, "I'm going home. Welcome to our family, son-in-law"

Richard glanced at Elijah before making his way out of the hall.

"Richard, stop right there! Don't even think you can leave" Margaret's body shook with rage as she hurried after him.

Serena and her sister also made their way after their parents.

Elijah was left standing alone in the hall.

From what he just watched happen, Margaret was the one who had the energy in the family and not Richard.

He was only a husband in name.

Would this be what his relationship with Serena turns out to be?

He must prove to her that he's worthy to be by her side and help her with her problems.

The housekeeper soon appeared by Elijah's side and said to him, "I'll take you to your wife's house in the Estate if you don't mind"

Elijah went with him and in no time, they arrived at a luxurious apartment behind the main Estate building.

Elijah went in while the housekeeper left.

As he entered, the eyes of his new family all turned to him from the dining table where they all sat.

Wasn't it just a few minutes ago when Margaret was fighting with her husband?

"You actually found your way here. I thought you would get lost and get bitten by the yard dog," Rosalie, Serena's sister, said with a hint of disgust.

Serena didn't even glance at him and continued eating as Margaret added to her plate.

"Son-in-law, you must be hungry. Join us" Richard invited Elijah over, tapping on the empty seat by his side.

Margaret's face scrunched up and she protested, "I cook for my family not this nobody"

"Just give him some food, Mom." Serena intervened before her parent began to fight again.

"Thank you wifey," Elijah said full of smiles but didn't expect her to reprimand him immediately,

"Don't call me that nonsense. I'm Serena. If you call me that nonsense at the office, I'll kill you"

He couldn't believe his ears.

Was this how a newlywed couple was supposed to live?

She always threatened to kill him at any given opportunity.

All these years, he had endured the hard training from his master with one goal in mind, to take vengeance for the atrocities done to his family.

But he must abide by the rule set by the master who had saved his life.

Punish only those who truly deserve punishment.

Kill only those who truly deserved to be killed.

When he returned, he found out that the DiLaurentis had suffered greatly because they had stolen the body of his mother and buried her honorably.

Her body would have been thrown into a river filled with wild creatures just like the other members of his family.

Now that he was married into their family, they would suffer no more.

Anyone who dares to bully them.... will surely die at his hands.

Isaac Blake could clearly see the shift in Elijah’s expression, and a wide smile broke across his face immediately. He raised his chin. “Even a useless person understands what it means to be a Grand Marshal. Are you regretting your recklessness now that you realize where you are standing?”Elijah didn’t respond. His eyes simply moved across Isaac, deliberately scanning him from the crown of his head all the way down to the ground beneath his feet. No one in the compound could tell what he was looking for or what he was finding.“Julius, listen to me. Get out now!” Serena’s voice came again with urgency. “You are not permitted to be here!”“Listen to her, son-in-law.” Old Master DiLaurentis spoke from where he still hung in the soldiers’ grip, his voice low but pushing through. “We can handle this. He is Grand Marshal Isaac Blake from the border military. Step out of this. You don’t have to be involved.”He said it, but even as the words left his mouth, he already knew. He could alrea

The armed men froze on the spot and didn’t dare squeeze the triggers. Their fingers had already slid off entirely, every bit of their attention pulled toward the ordinary-looking person walking into the compound. The words from his mouth didn’t match his face at all, but they were strong enough to hold every rifle in place.Serena blinked repeatedly, unable to process what she was seeing. She couldn’t believe that the person standing at that gate was her insolent husband. Perhaps she had already been shot, and this was simply her mind producing what she wanted to see. That was what she thought until Elijah looked in their direction and their eyes met directly.“Sorry I’m late, Wifey.” He made a cross over his chest with one hand, completely unbothered by the dozens of eyes boring holes into him from every direction in the compound. “Don’t think of me as a bad husband. I’ll make this up to you, cross my heart.”What no one in that compound could see was what was happening on the insi

  • Chapter 527

Five armed soldiers standing to the side marched forward toward the tied-up women and cocked their rifles in one quick motion. The faces of the DiLaurentis family turned pale instantly. Nobody had expected it to go this far, this fast.“Stop this nonsense right now!” David DiLaurentis shouted, and the force of it sent a sharp, searing pain ripping through his chest. He groaned and collapsed back into the wheelchair, the butler rushing to settle him properly.Isaac raised one hand. The soldiers halted and stood at ease.He approached the wheelchair slowly. “Is there something you want to tell me, David? You were also taken by the Shadow of Death last night?”“What are you talking about?” David’s face twitched slightly, but he locked his composure down tight and gave nothing away.“The mercenary who kidnapped you and your granddaughters.” Isaac stopped in front of the wheelchair. “You may not be aware, but he is a nation-level threat wanted by the military. My investigation shows you pa

  • Chapter 526

Isaac Blake had been silent throughout the patriarch’s entire entrance. Now he took a step forward, and a cold smile appeared on his lips.“David, I have to give it to you. You really know how to make an entrance.” His voice carried the easy tone of a man who had not been rattled at all. “What I heard from the doctors was that you might be bedridden for a very long time. I suppose they were wrong.”“Did you decide to bully my family in my absence?” Old Mr. DiLaurentis’s voice still carried the same clear hostility. “Isaac, you may come from a higher authority, but that doesn’t give you this right.”He said it steadily, but the reality of Isaac Blake’s position was not lost on him. With his standing in the border military, Isaac was miles above the DiLaurentis family in terms of institutional power. On any normal day, even David would have chosen his words carefully around this man. But they had a history. One that the two of them understood completely, and that no one else in this co

  • Chapter 525

Isaac Blake’s face twisted into something that was almost unrecognizable on him. He gritted his teeth. “David, is that any way to address me? We haven’t seen each other in years. Shouldn’t bygones be bygones…?”There was something about the way he said it that couldn’t be easily read, not quite an apology, not quite a threat, sitting somewhere uncomfortable in between. The three tied-up women exchanged glances, the confusion plain on all their faces. Whatever relationship existed between Isaac and their patriarch, it was clearly something far more complicated than an old friendship. What exactly was going on between these two?“Bygones…?” David’s fist clenched tighter, and he shook his head slowly. “I warned you never to set foot in this estate again. Even two decades will not change that, Isaac.”At that moment, members of the DiLaurentis family began flooding out of the main estate building and the surrounding apartments, drawn by the voice of a man none of them had expected to see

  • Chapter 524

“Is that accurate?” Outside the main building of the DiLaurentis Estate, Isaac Blake stood with the group of soldiers that had just returned from the Ainsworth Mansion, his hands crossed behind his back. One of the soldiers stepped forward. “Grand Marshal, the information we received from the Ainsworths corroborates everything else our investigation has turned up.” A slow smirk spread across Isaac’s face. “Looks like the answers I needed were closer than I thought.” He glanced toward the compound. “Where are those women?” “Still tied up, Grand Marshal. They have refused to confess their involvement in the attack on Old Master DiLaurentis,” another soldier informed him. The smirk disappeared. Without a word, Isaac turned and marched away, the soldiers falling quickly into step behind him. They came to a stop in front of the large tree at the center of the DiLaurentis compound. The three women were still there, but the night had taken a visible toll on all of them. Their clothes w
