Since Jeremiah had no way of blocking a bullet if he was shot— as he hadn’t learned any defensive magic yet or any type of magic for that matter—the only chance he had of surviving this ordeal was by either stopping the gun from being fired in the first place or moving out of the path of the bullet if he couldn’t stop the shot.

Thankfully, his heightened senses and speed were all he needed to do that.

Seeing the hooligan about to pull the trigger and shoot him right between the eyes, even though he still had his helmet on, let Jeremiah know that it was time to take action.

He shifted out of position which made the hooligan not fire the shot because he had to aim again. Unfortunately, Jeremiah wasn’t going to let that happen.

Jeremiah focused on the hooligans closest to him— the ones with the metal baseball bat and the metal pipe— and he attacked them.

They saw him coming and went on the offensive too, but sadly they were no match for Jeremiah.

Jeremiah ran into the building and immediately was confronted by the multitude of hooligans, all ready to fight back with their different weapons of choice, not including guns.Because of how loud a gun was, firing many at once was bound to bring unwanted attention like the police, so they had to take care of Jeremiah quietly. They also thought that they didn’t need it because they outnumbered Jeremiah. Also, shooting him would deal with him too quickly and they didn’t want that. They wanted to punish him for coming into their turf and throwing his weight around by beating him to a pulp and torturing him for a long time. Knowing just how dangerous Jeremiah was, thanks to what most of them had witnessed take place outside the apartment, the information to not underestimate Jeremiah had already spread and not a single one of them was going to make the same mistake as the first two hooligans who had fought Jeremiah outside. They also weren’t going to go at him as singles or in pairs of

Everyone focused, trying their hardest to increase how much of what was happening on the floors below they could hear.Unfortunately, doing that presented a challenge because they were on the third floor and unless someone was loud to a certain decibel, nothing from the ground floor would be audible to them.Still, they hoped to pick up the voice of at least one of the hooligans who had gone down to stop Jeremiah, but they couldn’t because something else was obstructing them. That was the basketball game being shown on the massive television whose sound was blasting off its high-quality speakers.“Where’s the fucking remote!” the Kingpin asked both of the skimpy-dressed girls sitting on the couch. They hurriedly searched for and gave the remote to him then he angrily muted the television and tossed the remote at the closest girl.Without the television’s noise disturbing them, the Kingpin tried listening again to see if he could pick up any sound but all he could hear was the breaths

“Charlie?! What the hell is going on?!” Jeremiah panicked. He hurried to the room and then stopped by the doorway, his mind going through many scenarios of what could have happened.Could they have figured out why he was there and done something to Charlie in retaliation?Jeremiah assessed the environment, trying to figure out what caused the screaming he heard earlier, all the while hoping it wasn’t what he was thinking.First, he noticed the kids on the floor who all looked scared and seemed like the ones who had screamed because the voices matched their age.He didn’t know what Charlie looked like and he couldn’t use Jackson’s face as a reference because Jackson was his grandfather and an old man so the resemblance wouldn’t be there. Still, the fact that none of the kids looked hurt helped calm his mind a bit and if Charlie was one of them then things were good. Jeremiah continued to assess the environment and then saw the sight that gave the kids their fright and caused them to

Seeing Jeremiah’s hands in the air, the kingpin smirked, feeling powerful as he was the one who made it happen.“Good,” he said smugly. The kingpin shifted his gaze to the dominatrix who was standing between himself and Jeremiah, still seeing Jeremiah in his peripheral vision and ready to retaliate if he did anything stupid.“Sasha” he called and the dominatrix quickly turned to him.“Yes, boss?” She asked. Using his head and a raise of his right eyebrow, he gestured at Charlie—who was still at gunpoint—and said, "Bring the brat."“Sure thing, boss” Sasha grinned proudly, enjoying every moment of what was happening. She walked over to where the kids were gathered, yelling “Move out my way you fucking worms!” The four other kids hurried out of her path while Charlie, who was directly in front of her, tried moving back to distance himself. Unfortunately, his back met the wall after moving back a couple of feet. “There’s nowhere to run you bastard. Now, come here!” Sasha commanded th

The kingpin’s words resounded in Jeremiah’s ears and he groaned suspiciously, wondering what he was trying to do. From the look on his face, it definitely wasn’t anything good.“Now, walk forward,” the kingpin said.Jeremiah furrowed his eyebrows, getting even more confused. What reason did the kingpin have for making him go closer when he, the kingpin, had been trying to keep him at a distance since he made his appearance?Surely, he hadn’t started underestimating him all of a sudden, right? That wouldn’t make any sense or be smart and would be contrary to how he had come across this whole time. So, what could his end goal be?Seeing that Jeremiah was hesitant about following the instructions, the kingpin frowned. To teach Jeremiah a lesson he used the bottom of the gun’s handle to wack Charlie in the head and Jeremiah jolted. The three remaining kids who were watching screamed, shocked at what the Kingpin had just done.“Shut it!” The Kingpin yelled at them. Their voices dropped a

The kids shuddered and hurriedly went back to counting and arranging the money.Their fear of the kingpin had skyrocketed to new heights—which said a lot, considering they had alwaus been terrified of him. But witnessing his willingness to kill made them desperate to avoid becoming the next victim, so they followed his every command without hesitation.“That’s what I like to see” the kingpin smirked then walked over to where Victor was.He sneered at his right hand man with annoyance then rolled his eyes and kicked Victor’s foot.“Get up already, fool. How long do you plan on laying there like a dog?” The kingpin said then left Victor and picked up the duffel bag of money. He unzipped the bag and checked the cash inside. He grimaced after seeing the many unbundled cash that was on top the pile of bundled currencies.“Stupid old man. He can’t even get the money right. No wonder he rented out an idiotic hero who died like a fool” he scoffed then stopped checking the money. The kingpin

A minute ago, after the kingpin pointed his gun at Jeremiah and told him to jump out of the window, Jeremiah smirked discretely. That was exactly what Jeremiah wanted— for the gun to be aimed at him and not any of the kids who would definitely die if they were shot. He also wanted the kingpin to stop using the kids as hostages and he just got exactly that. The kingpin made his smug comment about Jeremiah losing to him and was about to shoot, but Jeremiah didn’t care to listen. His focus was on the nozzle of the gun and the kingpin’s trigger finger. He used his keen sight to predict where the bullet would hit when fired based on where the nozzle was pointing. Then he used the kingpin’s trigger finger to know how long he had to dodge before the bullet got to him. He had to dodge before the gun was actually fired but he had to do it at the right time— when the kingpin couldn't stop himself from firing the gun and changing aim. It was a very thin margin for success but with his reflexes

“Who are you?! Where did you come from?! Get out! Get out!” They screamed, throwing whatever they had at Jeremiah. With quick reflexes, Jeremiah dodged everything thrown at him while also apologizing for interrupting what they were doing.Just then, he heard the kingpin’s footsteps walking towards the window he had fallen out of earlier and he looked up.“Good. He’s probably going to check what’s going on and will be distracted. I better use this opportunity well” Jeremiah said then he ran out of the content room. He went for the stairs and climbed to the fourth floor. He ran past the four hooligans he had knocked out earlier, grabbed the metallic baseball bat he had dropped on the floor as well, and rushed to the kingpin’s room. The sound of his footsteps approaching the door and the aura of his presence made Sasha and the others look at the door. The kingpin, however, was too focused on wondering where Jeremiah’s body was to realize that he had just appeared in the room, just as

One week later, Jeremiah leaned back against a cherry-red and gold Bugatti Veyron, the glint of the city lights dancing along its sleek curves. His tailored obsidian suit clung perfectly to his frame, his silver tie fluttering slightly in the evening breeze. The engine purred beneath the hood like a beast waiting to be unleashed. He glanced at the time on his wristwatch, a sly smile creeping across his face as the apartment door opened. He looked up.And there she was.Victoria emerged in a stunning midnight-blue dress that shimmered with every step. Her curls bounced as she descended the stairs, and Jeremiah couldn’t help but admire the moment like it was a scene from a movie.“Hurry up, we’re going to be late,” he said, a playful edge in his voice.“I’m coming!” she replied, hurrying her pace before she reached him—and planted a kiss on his lips that made the world pause for a second.“When’s he popping the question again?” she asked, at the same time telling him that maybe he was r

“The Leader?” Jeremiah asked with a grimace, the name tasting like ash on his tongue.“That’s right,” the being declared, his voice echoing like a god’s judgment through the twisted air. “I *am* the Leader—and this is my dimension. Here, I rule as supreme.”Jeremiah’s eyes narrowed. “And that name you called me—Bazar’q Omàrin? Why?”The Leader tilted his head slightly, a cruel smirk tugging at his lips. “Because that is your name. Not this watered-down nonsense—Crimson, Jeremiah—names handed to you by humans who never knew your truth. You were Bazar’q Omàrin, once the high sovereign of the mighty Oxyl Dimension... until it all turned to ash.”Jeremiah’s fists clenched as a dull pain throbbed in his temples. “And how do you know that? How do you know *me*?”The Leader's grin stretched, eyes flickering with malevolence. “Because, you banished me to hell!”With that roar of hatred, he surged forward in a blur, his fist crashing into Jeremiah’s ribs with the force of a meteor. ‘Where is he? The one who started all of this?’ Jeremiah’s thoughts were a storm as he tore through the sky in a vicious, high-speed duel against the nine-winged skeletal wyvern. His golden eyes flicked through the blood-red horizon, desperate to catch even a glimpse of Grey Lucian. Since the chaos began, Grey had vanished—eerily absent. The longer Jeremiah failed to find him, the more unease spread like rot in his gut.But the demonic wyvern wasn’t giving him the luxury of distraction.Every flap of the beast’s bony, mana-wrought wings whipped up cyclones of cursed wind. Each strike came fast, lethal, and relentless. Dodging them required all of Jeremiah’s focus—there was no room for error, no space to think about Grey, or even the cultists scattered across the battlefield, who were clearly summoning something catastrophic. The thick, malevolent mana surging from their positions felt like an omen of ruin. For just one heartbeat, Jeremiah’s mind slipped—and it was one too many. The w

The battlefield plunged into eerie silence. Even the screaming winds beneath the dome seemed to hold their breath.Jeremiah stood at the center of it all, his dragonoid form casting a monumental silhouette against the warped sky. His scales shimmered with hues of black, red, and gold, glowing like molten metal in the dome’s unnatural twilight. Wings unfurled behind him like the banners of a god of war, stretching high and wide, stirring the air with every twitch.Mages, scattered across the estate in strategic lines, froze. The resurrection magic that had reanimated their fallen held no expression, no breath—just cold bodies awaiting orders. All of them stared at him, at the beast who had tanked a god-killing spell and still stood.Jeremiah’s molten eyes locked onto the mages who had conjured the lightning-fire hybrid spell. There was no mercy in his gaze. Only retribution. He leapt forward. The impact of his takeoff split the ground behind him, sending fragments of earth skyward and

The sky darkened unnaturally, casting an eerie twilight over the estate. Jeremiah looked up as the last arc of shadow joined with the rest, sealing them inside a massive black dome. It shimmered with power, humming low like a monstrous heartbeat. The siege had begun. He turned to Lynette. “It’s begun.”“Yes,” she said quietly, eyes locked on the sky. “It has.”Jeremiah glanced down at the box in his hand. Obadiah’s head, expression frozen in death, stared back at him. The man had been a teacher, a guide, a rock of wisdom. And now he was gone. Murdered.“I’m sorry this happened to you, teacher,” Jeremiah murmured, his voice a low promise. “But on your behalf, I’ll make those fuckers pay.”With grim reverence, he set the box down. Then he and Lynette walked toward the convoy, where confusion had begun to blossom into panic.A chorus of murmurs rose as everyone saw the sky had changed. The dome wasn’t just a covering — it was alive. Pulsing. Feeding something.“What the hell is this?” th

[“But how?!”] the driver asked in a panic.Jeremiah had used wordless magic to unlock and open the gate.[“Don’t worry about it and just keep driving”] Steven interjected, stopping the driver beside him from thinking too much into what happened.Because this security detail was provided by the city of Bakers View and not of the Garrick Royal estate, they didn’t know about Jeremiah’s real identity as Lord Crimson or that magic existed. That was why Steven stopped the driver beside him from asking questions and just moved things along. [“Okay, Captain”] the driver reluctantly said and then hit the gas, leading the cars into the estate. All the while, the third car which hadn’t been connected through the channel didn’t know what was really going on. Second after second, the cars got closer to Jeremiah’s house and when they got there everything looked perfectly fine, surpr

Jeremiah weighed his options and came to a final decision on which path to take. “We should go back” he declared. “Go back? As in back to the house?” Reginald asked, an intrigued look on his face.“Yes, back to the house” Jeremiah replied matter-of-factly.“Why?” Reginald inquired.“Though I wish you weren’t here, I honestly feel better with you or should I say Lynette by my side rather than elsewhere where y’all can be attacked by who knows how many enemies, and she, for whatever reason, dies because remember, a single temporary death from hers means you’re gone, forever,” Jeremiah said and Reginald groaned as he reflected on every word.“Alright then. I guess we’re going back” Reginald replied. He then looked at the driver and said “Tell the front car that we’re going back to the apartment”“As you wish, Your Majesty” the driver replied, clearly not on board with the decision because he had picked up on signs of there being a problem and would prefer if they left the city— meanin

Looking at him, Reginald asked “So we’re going back to your house to speak with the shaman? I wonder what he wants to talk to us about”“Nothing. He doesn’t want to speak to us about anything” Jeremiah said as he stuffed his phone into his pocket while Reginald grimaced.“He doesn’t? How do you know that?” Reginald asked. I came to this city to spend time with Jeremiah and I haven’t even done that. If we travel back so quickly it would mean that this trip was a complete letdown.” She said. Kingston groaned.“So what do you want to do, Lady Lynette?” Kingston asked “Being the young master’s fiancé, you’re just as influential as he is to those who know the truth. So much so that the artificial intelligence back at the house obeyed your instruction when it wouldn’t have for anyone else besides the young master” Lynette groaned, reflecting on Kingston’s question that asked her what she wanted to do.“Since you’ve already linked yourself and Master Reginald together, you’ve basically protected him from all forms of harm for the next thirty-nine years, so you don’t have to follow us back home if you don’t want to.
