Hearts pounded in anticipation of what Jeremiah’s next sentence was going to be.

The mix of emotions in the room was so palpable, it got too much for the extremely desperate David, and he interrupted Jeremiah before he could even speak.

Although what he said was done in good faith as he wanted to give Jeremiah the confidence to trust in all the work he had put in and trust that he was right for the kingship, what he ended up doing was making things worse for himself.

He said “Cousin, I assure you that I’ll be a good and kind king.”

Immediately, Jeremiah froze.

“A kind king, you say?” Jeremiah said, and the way he spoke made David blink multiple times.

David reflected on what he had just said and realized how gravely he messed up.

Jeremiah didn’t even have to say anything for him to know that yet again he had made a massive mistake.

Here he was talking about being a kind king when the reason Jeremiah was in the study in the first place was to address the brutality of the punishment

Everybody looked at David, expecting him to shed more light on the strange suggestion he just made. What did he mean that Jeremiah should attend the One-hundredth-year anniversary of his university in Reginald’s stead when the king just finished thinking that he had shut down the topic a few sentences ago? “Uncle, as you said, cousin Jeremiah is your son who not only you but the entire world didn’t know existed for the longest time, so doesn’t it make sense to showcase him to the world in a spectacular manner?” David said then placed his hand on his chest and continued, “I think it’s a good idea, and what better way to accomplish that than utilizing the massive event that is the one-hundredth-year anniversary of my university next week?” Reginald groaned after hearing what David had to say. “I agree with you that the best decision to make concerning the handling of Jeremiah’s reappearance is to showcase him to the public in a spectacular and memorable fashion, but that’s what t

Without hiding a single detail, because he wasn’t David’s friend and as such had no reason to protect him, Jeremiah told Reginald everything that happened downstairs. From the altercation with Benson caused by his disgusting behavior toward Lynette to David’s disgraceful response to the whole incident, Jeremiah spilled everything to Reginald. Each time something about him was said, David felt like the ground should just open up and swallow him as the disappointed glances he got from Reginald made him want to disappear. He felt guilty, ashamed, and humiliated. “I believe that the way the servants are punished needs to be reevaluated. It can be too harsh, and something has to change,” Jeremiah said firmly. Reginald, who never expected to hear of any of that that late in the afternoon, groaned. To think that the second conversation he would have with Jeremiah on the same day of meeting him was going to be about his concerns for the wellbeing of the servants. What an utter s

Jeremiah and David left the study and once they were gone, Reginald and Kingston continued the conversation they were having before the interruption happened. “So, what did the Shaman say after reaching out to him?” Reginald asked. The Shaman from when Jeremiah’s mother, Lauretta, was pregnant had called Reginald not so long ago, but because he was busy at the time he had missed it.When Reginald eventually saw the missed call, he tried calling back but the Shaman didn’t answer.Knowing that the Shaman wouldn’t be calling without a good reason, especially considering the fact that it was on the same day he was reuniting with his long-lost son, Reginald made sure that he got in contact with the Shaman no matter what.He tasked Kingston with calling the Shaman’s number at regular intervals until he eventually answered and that’s exactly what happened.“He said that there is a possibility, although tiny, that Dark Emblem would attack tonight at the welcoming celebration for Young Master

Just then, he remembered that he had sent the guards to take all of them to one room and prevent them from leaving until he said otherwise or it was time for them to go home.“So this isn’t a prank” Jeremiah said skeptically.“Prank? Why would I prank my older cousin?” David said and then chuckled.Jeremiah furrowed his eyebrows as he looked at his cousin suspiciously.Jeremiah wasn’t a fool, he knew a fake laugh and smile when he saw one. After what happened with Mary and all the times she pretended to be a loving wife to him, Jeremiah had learned his lesson and wasn’t going to fall for another person’s deception ever again and that included David. “I don’t know. I don’t see why you would be thanking me for what happened” Jeremiah said and David smiled.“That’s because I agree with you and uncle. What I did, or in this case tried to do to that blonde maid as punishment, was a little too much. If you hadn’t stopped me, I know I would have regretted it later” David said and Jeremiah,

“Condition? What condition?” David asked. Jeremiah knew that there had to be a reason why David wanted his friends free during the welcome ceremony, so he was going to test out how high David’s desperation was. The more desperate David was, the more serious the reason had to be. “Your friends would have to take up roles among the staff that will work in the ceremony,” Jeremiah said. “What?!” David exclaimed, his eyes widened. “That’s right. The only way I’d agree to let your friends out of that room after what they did is if they agree to be a part of the ceremony’s staff.” Jeremiah said and David, who was surprised that that was his condition, blinked multiple times in a second. “B-but why do you want that? I’m sure there are already so many servants and hired staff who would be working in the ceremony, so why do you want my friends to also be a part of it?” David asked and Jeremiah groaned. Deep within Jeremiah’s mind, he thought ‘Normally, you would have disregarded the id

“My phone? What for?” David asked and Jeremiah sighed exasperatedly. “Don’t ask me irrelevant questions and just do it” Jeremiah said, his hand gesturing that David should hurry up. “Okay,” David replied skeptically then he reached into his pocket and took out the phone.“Good, now look for the voice recorder app and open it” Jeremiah instructed and David nodded.“Okay, I’ve done that. Now what?” David asked once he had opened the voice recorder app like Jeremiah told him to.Jeremiah gestured that he should give the phone to him and David did so hesitantly. It was clear by his responses since Jeremiah mentioned his phone that he was very attached to it.The reason could be because the punishment he got from Reginald was that everything he used to have access to was now limited and, as a result, his phone, which was one of the few possessions he was allowed to keep, seemed many times more valuable now.He didn’t want Jeremiah to do something that would damage the phone by accident o

“Outfit for the welcome party? She means a change of clothes?” Jeremiah grimaced then looked down at what he was wearing and groaned. He looked at the full-body mirror on the wall beside him and stared at his reflection, realizing that what he was to attend was a party meant for the high class and he was going to be the center of attention. Because of that, the outfit he had bought from the High Fashion Emporium wasn’t going to suffice, especially after he had slept in it and caused the fabric to get rumpled and a little stained. He had also sweated in it during his tour of the estate and that sweat had now begun to smell a little. Everything made the outfit not be in a condition appropriate for the welcome ceremony and Lynette bringing a change of clothes for him made a lot of sense. “I’ll be right there,” Jeremiah said then left the window and walked to the door. He opened the door and stared at Lynette. Immediately, his attention was drawn to the outfit she came with. “T

“Are you asking me, young master?” She asked, pointing at her chest. “Yes. I mean, who else would be I talking to? It’s just you and I in this room” Jeremiah replied. The maid chuckled bashfully. “Sorry about that, young master. I was just surprised is all” Without meaning to, she started thinking about what Jeremiah’s life must have been like that at twenty-five years old he didn’t know what to expect from a ceremony like the one happening currently when he was a prince. Shouting he have a lot of experience? She thought.“No problem. Anyway, do you have the tips or what?” Jeremiah asked and Lynette nodded. She gave him all the tips she could think of on how to behave and what to expect during the welcome ceremony and Jeremiah thanked her. After that, Jeremiah looked at Lynette from head to toe and the maid became nervous.“Young master?” She asked, wondering why he was checking her out like that.“Is this what you’re going to wear to the welcome ceremony?” He asked and the maid

One week later, Jeremiah leaned back against a cherry-red and gold Bugatti Veyron, the glint of the city lights dancing along its sleek curves. His tailored obsidian suit clung perfectly to his frame, his silver tie fluttering slightly in the evening breeze. The engine purred beneath the hood like a beast waiting to be unleashed. Her curls bounced as she descended the stairs, and Jeremiah couldn’t help but admire the moment like it was a scene from a movie.“Hurry up, we’re going to be late,” he said, a playful edge in his voice.“I’m coming!” she replied, hurrying her pace before she reached him—and planted a kiss on his lips that made the world pause for a second.“When’s he popping the question again?” she asked, at the same time telling him that maybe he was r

Here, I rule as supreme.”Jeremiah’s eyes narrowed. “And that name you called me—Bazar’q Omàrin? Why?”The Leader tilted his head slightly, a cruel smirk tugging at his lips. “Because that is your name. Not this watered-down nonsense—Crimson, Jeremiah—names handed to you by humans who never knew your truth. You were Bazar’q Omàrin, once the high sovereign of the mighty Oxyl Dimension... until it all turned to ash.”Jeremiah’s fists clenched as a dull pain throbbed in his temples. “And how do you know that? How do you know *me*?”The Leader's grin stretched, eyes flickering with malevolence. “Because, you banished me to hell!”With that roar of hatred, he surged forward in a blur, his fist crashing into Jeremiah’s ribs with the force of a meteor. ‘Where is he? The one who started all of this?’ Jeremiah’s thoughts were a storm as he tore through the sky in a vicious, high-speed duel against the nine-winged skeletal wyvern. His golden eyes flicked through the blood-red horizon, desperate to catch even a glimpse of Grey Lucian. Since the chaos began, Grey had vanished—eerily absent. The longer Jeremiah failed to find him, the more unease spread like rot in his gut.But the demonic wyvern wasn’t giving him the luxury of distraction.Every flap of the beast’s bony, mana-wrought wings whipped up cyclones of cursed wind. Each strike came fast, lethal, and relentless. Dodging them required all of Jeremiah’s focus—there was no room for error, no space to think about Grey, or even the cultists scattered across the battlefield, who were clearly summoning something catastrophic. The thick, malevolent mana surging from their positions felt like an omen of ruin. For just one heartbeat, Jeremiah’s mind slipped—and it was one too many. The w

His scales shimmered with hues of black, red, and gold, glowing like molten metal in the dome’s unnatural twilight. Wings unfurled behind him like the banners of a god of war, stretching high and wide, stirring the air with every twitch.Mages, scattered across the estate in strategic lines, froze. The resurrection magic that had reanimated their fallen held no expression, no breath—just cold bodies awaiting orders. All of them stared at him, at the beast who had tanked a god-killing spell and still stood.Jeremiah’s molten eyes locked onto the mages who had conjured the lightning-fire hybrid spell. There was no mercy in his gaze. Only retribution. He leapt forward. The impact of his takeoff split the ground behind him, sending fragments of earth skyward and

The sky darkened unnaturally, casting an eerie twilight over the estate. Jeremiah looked up as the last arc of shadow joined with the rest, sealing them inside a massive black dome. It shimmered with power, humming low like a monstrous heartbeat. The siege had begun. He turned to Lynette. “It’s begun.”“Yes,” she said quietly, eyes locked on the sky. “It has.”Jeremiah glanced down at the box in his hand. Obadiah’s head, expression frozen in death, stared back at him. The man had been a teacher, a guide, a rock of wisdom. And now he was gone. Murdered.“I’m sorry this happened to you, teacher,” Jeremiah murmured, his voice a low promise. “But on your behalf, I’ll make those fuckers pay.”With grim reverence, he set the box down. Then he and Lynette walked toward the convoy, where confusion had begun to blossom into panic.A chorus of murmurs rose as everyone saw the sky had changed. The dome wasn’t just a covering — it was alive. Pulsing. Feeding something.“What the hell is this?” th

[“But how?!”] the driver asked in a panic.Jeremiah had used wordless magic to unlock and open the gate.[“Don’t worry about it and just keep driving”] Steven interjected, stopping the driver beside him from thinking too much into what happened.Because this security detail was provided by the city of Bakers View and not of the Garrick Royal estate, they didn’t know about Jeremiah’s real identity as Lord Crimson or that magic existed. That was why Steven stopped the driver beside him from asking questions and just moved things along. [“Okay, Captain”] the driver reluctantly said and then hit the gas, leading the cars into the estate. All the while, the third car which hadn’t been connected through the channel didn’t know what was really going on. Second after second, the cars got closer to Jeremiah’s house and when they got there everything looked perfectly fine, surpr

Jeremiah weighed his options and came to a final decision on which path to take. “We should go back” he declared. “Go back? As in back to the house?” Reginald asked, an intrigued look on his face.“Yes, back to the house” Jeremiah replied matter-of-factly.“Why?” Reginald inquired.“Though I wish you weren’t here, I honestly feel better with you or should I say Lynette by my side rather than elsewhere where y’all can be attacked by who knows how many enemies, and she, for whatever reason, dies because remember, a single temporary death from hers means you’re gone, forever,” Jeremiah said and Reginald groaned as he reflected on every word.“Alright then. I guess we’re going back” Reginald replied. He then looked at the driver and said “Tell the front car that we’re going back to the apartment”“As you wish, Your Majesty” the driver replied, clearly not on board with the decision because he had picked up on signs of there being a problem and would prefer if they left the city— meanin
