Chapter 2

How did Louis afford to buy a better Aquamarine than Edward's? Everyone was amazed and shocked, including the Frank family members and the guests at the party.

"Edward Frank, do you know why I said the necklace had a fake Aquamarine? Because the last one was brought by me." Louis held the delicate necklace and talked calmly to Edward Frank.

"That's impossible! The necklace will cost $2 million. You have no money to buy one!" Edward Frank stared at Louis, uttering a threatening sentence.

Louis did not show any confusion; on the contrary, he smiled at Edward Frank and said, "Although two stones look a bit similar, there is actually a fatal difference. Edward Frank, you buy fakes, and you understand what I'm saying, don't you? "

Hearing this from Louis, Edward Frank panicked because what Louis said was true. Edward Frank had spent only $5,000 on his fake necklace while spending the rest of his money on alcohol.

Maddy noticed Edward Frank's distress, and she immediately spoke up.

"We can bring both necklaces for Grandma to examine."

"Okay. Bring those two pieces of jewelry over here for me to see!" Fidelia Neil coughed and spoke.

The atmosphere inside the hotel was extremely tense and stuffy.

After the passing of their lord of the family, Fidelia Neil assumed his role, and now all decisions require her approval.

Even though Maddy is smart and hardworking, Fidelia Neil doesn't think highly of her because she's the third granddaughter. Instead, Fidelia Neil favors her youngest son, who only spends money on gambling and drinking. Fidelia Neil has helped Edward Frank keep his job at the company.

“Grandma.." Edward Frank was terrified and couldn't bring himself to speak. He never thought Louis would also have an Aquamarine, and that his fake jewelry would be uncovered.

Fidelia Neil was absolutely able to determine which piece of jewelry was real and which was fake. . And as Louis said, the Aquamarine stone on the necklace that Edward Frank bought is a fake.

Edward Frank regretted provoking Louis, realizing that things wouldn't have escalated if he had kept his cool. Thinking of the consequences, Edward Frank immediately stood up and said:

"Louis, do you think I would waste my money on fake jewelry? The Aquamarine stone alone is worth nearly 2 million USD, and it requires a skilled craftsman to attach it to the jewelry. It's a cost that you could never justify in this lifetime. How dare you accuse me of such nonsense in public! As the son-in-law of our esteemed Frank family, I may consider forgiving you, but only if you bow down and apologize to me like the insolent peasant you are."

Fidelia Neil was well aware of which Aquamarine was genuine, and she was extremely displeased. She had purchased the jewelry piece using a considerable amount of money to elevate Edward Frank's standing in front of others and secure his position as the heir to the company. However, she never anticipated that her own grandson would engage in such reprehensible behavior.

If the news about the fake jewelry purchased by Edward Frank were to spread, it would not only jeopardize his inheritance of the company but also cost him his job. Given the severity of the situation, he would be swiftly dismissed from his position in the company.

Thinking about it, Fidelia Neil announced:  "The Aquamarine on Edward Frank's necklace is real. Louis Mary, How dare you blame Edward Frank?!"

Louis was taken aback upon hearing this from Fidelia Neil. He had put in a lot of effort to purchase the genuine Aquamarine stone, traveling all the way to K.H city and purchasing it from an acquaintance before having it attached to the jewelry at a local store. There was no way that his efforts could have resulted in a fake piece of jewelry.

Edward Frank was also surprised when he heard his grandmother's statement affirming that his necklace was genuine. However, he quickly regained his composure and felt relieved. He believed that his grandmother's age likely prevented her from accurately distinguishing between real and fake jewelry, and he concluded that he would not face any punishment for his actions.

Upset and unable to tolerate the false accusation, Louis spoke out to Fidelia Neil. "Grandma, I swear that this Aquamarine is real! You should take a close look at it and see..."

Fidelia Neil ignored Louis' words and threw the bracelet he had bought onto the ground, breaking it in front of everyone.  She then proceeded to shout, "Louis, how dare you show such brazenness and disrespect towards me?! Do you think you can treat me like an old woman and get away with it?!"

Fidelia Neil wasn't concerned about which jewelry was real, only about the welfare of the Frank family. Louis was merely her son-in-law and considered insignificant, thus she preferred siding with Edward Frank.

She pointed directly at Louis, shouting: "It's a pity that the Frank family has a son-in-law like you. Get on your knees and apologize to Edward."

Maddy witnessed a different side of Louis she had never seen before - his sharp and intense expression. Despite not following the norm of kneeling, he picked up the broken bracelet and hobbled out of the hotel.

Maddy attempted to pursue Louis, but was halted by her own mother who sternly scolded her: "What's the point in following him? Because of you, our family is being mocked and looked down upon. You should get a divorce."
