Connor didn’t say a word after Lena’s mockery.

He didn’t even look at her again.

All he wanted was his phone. That was it.

After taking his phone, he still remained silent.

Then he turned toward the door to leave.

But before he could take another step, Lena’s cold voice rang out behind him.

“So that’s it?” she said mockingly. “You’re just going to pick up your phone and walk out like nothing happened?”

Connor stopped but didn’t turn around. His voice was calm when he finally spoke. “Yes. That’s exactly what I came here to do. Get my phone and leave.”

Lena scoffed loudly. “Oh, really? So that’s the story you’re going with now? You came all the way here just for your phone?”

Connor finally turned his head slightly. “Yes, Lena. I came for my phone. I didn’t come to beg you. I didn’t come to argue. I’m not here to crawl back into your life.”

Her lips curved into a cruel smile. “Of course. Because that sounds so believable.” She took a few steps toward him, folding her arms. “You expect me to believe you showed up here by coincidence? You think I can’t see through you? You came here to beg, Connor. You realized you can’t survive without me, and when you saw me with Ben, shame got the better of you, so you changed your story.”

Connor’s gaze stayed steady. “You can believe whatever you want,” he said calmly. “But the truth is, I didn’t come here to beg. I wouldn’t even want to live a servant’s life in the name of a husband, especially when my wife openly has an affair with another man.”

That hit her pride. Her smile faltered for a second, then returned colder. “A servant’s life?” she echoed, laughing bitterly. “Connor, you were lucky to even have a life with me. You talk about pride, but you forget you lived under my family’s roof. You ate our food, wore our clothes. And now, you suddenly grow a backbone?”

Connor shook his head. “You can call it whatever you want. But at least I know I never needed you to survive. I might have been broke, Lena, but I wasn’t lost. You just never cared enough to see that.”

Lena raised an eyebrow, smirking. “Please. Don’t act brave now. You and I both know you won’t last a week out there. You’ll come running back before you know it.”

Connor turned toward the door again, his patience almost gone. “I’ll survive,” he said simply.

“You won’t,” she said coldly. “Because you can’t survive without me. You’ve never been able to.”

He ignored her completely this time and started walking away.

But before he reached the door, her voice sliced through the air again.

“Wait.”

He stopped, sighing heavily but still not turning around.

“What is it now, Lena?”

“Where do you think you’re going?” she asked sharply.

He turned slowly, confused. “What?”

She walked closer, her chin lifted high. “You heard me. Where do you think you’re going with my phone?”

Connor blinked, frowning. “Your phone?”

“Yes,” she said firmly. “I bought that phone for you, remember? And since I’m divorcing you, I want everything that belongs to me returned, including that.”

Connor stared at her, speechless for a moment. “You’re serious?”

“Very serious,” she said proudly, holding out her hand. “Give it to me.”

Connor let out a quiet breath, shaking his head in disbelief. “You want me to give you the phone, right here, in the hospital?”

“Yes, right here,” Lena said. “Or are you suddenly deaf? I said give it to me. I don’t care if people are watching.”

By now, a few nurses had paused near the doorway, watching silently. One of them whispered to another, recognizing Lena Montgomery immediately.

Connor glanced around briefly and saw their curious faces, the pity in their eyes. His stomach tightened from the humiliation, but he refused to show it.

He pulled the phone out slowly, unlocked it, and went through the settings. His fingers moved calmly despite the heat burning in his chest.

Lena frowned. “What are you doing?”

Connor didn’t answer. He scrolled for a few seconds, then tapped Factory Reset. The screen flashed, then went blank.

When the reset completed, he handed the phone to her silently.

“There,” he said quietly. “Now it’s just a piece of plastic. You can have it.”

Lena took it, smirking as if she’d won a battle. “Good. You should’ve known better than to hold onto something that wasn’t yours.”

Connor said nothing. He didn’t argue, didn’t defend himself. He just looked at her one last time calmly and completely done.

For a moment, she seemed unsettled by how composed he looked. She had expected him to explode or beg just to boost her pride in front of the crowd, but his silence made her uneasy.

So she lashed out again, needing to feel control.

“Come to my father’s mansion tomorrow morning,” she said suddenly. “We’ll make it official.”

He frowned. “Make what official?”

“The divorce,” she said flatly. “You’ll sign the papers tomorrow. The earlier we end this farce, the better. I don’t want to ever see your face again.”

Connor’s chest felt tight, but his voice didn’t show it. “Fine. I’ll be there.”

Lena lifted her head slightly, a cruel smile forming. “Good. Maybe after that, you can finally stop pretending you’re anything more than a mistake I made.”

Connor’s jaw tightened. “If that helps you sleep at night, then keep believing it.”

Lena blinked, almost surprised by his steady tone. She had expected him to crumble but he didn’t. Instead, he turned around again and began walking toward the door.

The nurses stepped aside quietly as he passed. Some looked at him with pity, others with admiration for how calmly he handled the humiliation.

When he reached the door, he paused just for a second. He didn’t look back when he said, “You’ll regret this, Lena Montgomery.”

Then he walked out.

He gritted his teeth as he stepped out of the hospital. He didn’t look back once. The humiliation still burned inside him, but his face stayed calm.He kept walking until he found an old phone booth by the side of the street. He stepped inside, shut the glass door behind him, and picked up the receiver. After dropping a few coins, he dialed the number Harris had given him earlier. The line rang twice. Then Harris’s familiar, calm voice came through. “Hello? Young master, where are you?”Connor sighed, leaning against the booth wall. “Everything is fine, Harris,” he said quietly. “But there’s something I should tell you.”“What is it?”“The phone,” Connor said. “The one you told me to bring. I… couldn’t get it back. It was bought by my wife, and she demanded it back. She made a scene and retrieved it.”There was a long pause on the other end. Then Harris’s voice came, low and sharp. “That woman doesn’t even have a clue,” he growled. “She has no idea you could buy her entire family’s co

Connor sat in silence for a long time after Harris’s words, still trying to absorb everything. The idea of being worth eight hundred billion dollars felt distant, unreal, just like something that belonged to another man’s story.Harris, however, was already moving with a sense of urgency. He walked to the desk, pressed a small button, and the door slid open silently. Two security men stepped aside respectfully.“Young Master,” Harris said, turning back to him, “there’s something very important I must do before we proceed.”Connor looked up wearily. “What now?”“I’ll need your phone,” Harris said. “I have to configure a private tracker on it. It’s a security measure. Once we register it with our system, it’ll help me and the protection unit follow your location in case of any emergency.”Connor frowned a little. “Tracker? You’re serious about this whole danger thing, aren’t you?”Harris nodded firmly. “Very serious, Young master. You must understand, as the only living heir of the Winc

The silence in the grand room was heavy after Connor’s question. Harris stood frozen, his lips pressed tight as if weighing the right words. Finally, he sighed deeply. “You deserve to know the truth, young master,” he said slowly. “But it’s not an easy truth to hear.”Connor’s voice was calm but sharp. “I’ve heard enough half-truths for one lifetime. Just tell me, Harris. What incident happened when I was fifteen?”Harris took a deep breath, his eyes filled with the kind of pain that only comes from memories long buried. “You were attacked.”Connor frowned, confusion spreading across his face. “Attacked? By who?”“By your father’s enemies,” Harris said gravely. “A powerful and ruthless organization known as The Black Lotus.”Connor blinked, the name unfamiliar and strange on his tongue. “Black Lotus? What’s that supposed to mean? Some kind of gang?”Harris gave a slow nod. “You could call them that, but they are far more dangerous than common criminals. The Black Lotus isn’t just one

Connor woke up slowly, his head pounding like someone had hit him with a hammer. His eyelids felt heavy, and for a few seconds, he couldn’t remember where he was or how he got there. The bed under him was too soft, too big, and too clean. When his vision finally focused, he froze. He wasn’t in any hospital ward. He wasn’t even in a place he recognized. He blinked again, his eyes darting around the enormous room. Everything looked grand, too grand. The bed could fit at least five people. The rug looked like something that belonged in a palace.“Where… where the hell am I?” he muttered under his breath, pushing himself up weakly. His chest felt heavy, and his throat was dry.Just then, a calm voice spoke from the corner.“You’re awake, young master.”Connor turned so fast he almost fell off the bed. His eyes widened when he saw the same man who had stopped the Rolls-Royce on the street, the one who picked him up when he had collapsed.“You!” Connor pointed at him, his voice shaking. “W

Connor lay propped against the pillows, a dull ache running through his arm as the tube siphoned his blood away. He could feel it draining into Benjamin’s body in the next bed.His vision blurred at the edges, but he clenched his jaw and forced himself to sit upright. Sweat dotted his forehead, but he stayed silent, watching Lena stand at Benjamin’s bedside like a hawk. When he finally spoke, his voice was low and weak. “Lena, that’s enough. You’re draining me dry.”She didn’t turn, her eyes glued to the monitor.“I’m serious,” Connor said, his tone sharper now. “Stop this before it kills me.”At last she turned with an icy gaze. “Stop? Listen to yourself, Connor. Always weak, always complaining. You can’t even do this one thing without whining.”He stared back at her, unflinching. “I’m not whining. I’m telling you a fact, my body can’t take more.”“You’re nothing without me,” Lena snapped. She stepped closer, her voice dropping, as cold as ice. “Do you think anyone would know your na
