Stephan couldn't hold his anger as he stared at Rita and back at Maxwell. “ Is this the reason you had me demoted to a mere common guard? Because of him!”

“ You would do well to shut your trap, or I might have to do that for you,” Rita warned.

Maxwell walked in and immediately went to Rita's desk and drew her closer to him.

Stephan watched as he bit his lips' til they bled. He was not going to stand and let Rita insult him anymore. He went towards Maxwell and landed a blow to his face. Maxwell, who was more muscular than he was, carried him high and landed him on the glassy table right in front of him.

Rita grinned, enjoying the WWE SMACKDOWN that had been displayed right in front of him. “ Get out!” she said with anger.

Stephan rolled on the glass and felt blood trickling down from the back of his neck. He looks at Rita and back at Maxwell, holding his head, he slowly walks out in shame.

Many of the staff felt pity for him, while some said it served him right. “ Why would a commoner go and marry into the most powerful family in the city? He deserves to be treated like nobody. Does he think he can control her? Who the hell is he?” One of the male staff that had envied Stephan said with a grin on his face.

Stephan got outside holding his head. “ You will be alright.” A voice said from behind and he turned back.

“ Who are you?” Stephan asked slowly, as his vision was a little blurry. “Woah! I think you should have a seat.” The man said again before Stephan could fall down.

“ I am the head of security around here and don't worry, I know who you are. You won't be insulted and neither will you be treated harshly by any guard personnel here. All I need from you is to discharge your duty. Don't worry, you shall rise again.”

It was as if the man had poured cold water to soothe Stephan's pain. He looked up and smiled, holding the back of his head. “ Thank you sir. This means alot to me.”

“ Don't mention it. You are going to need ice to do that. You don't want it to leave a scar.” The man advised again. “ You can call me Gerrad, by the way.”

The man walked in and was soon back with an ice pack. He gave it to Stephan and went back to his post.

Stephan’s topic was the talk on everyone's lips that day. The shame was too much for him to bear, but he needed to be strong and, since he didn't have any choice, he obeyed.

Stephan needed to open the gates and mount at the door post to greet and welcome visitors and workers into the company. Rita and Maxwell walked out of the company holding hands and even making Stephan a little angry, but he had seen worse. It was time to accept his fate and be the loser he was.

The night was even more cruel to him. He got home tired and worn out. Rita opened the door and yawned lazily. She was about to walk into her room when Stephan asked her where his food was. “ Do you think you deserve any food in this house you lazy man? What have you been doing all day rather than open and close the company's gate, and now you are here to tell me that you need food? If you are that hungry, get into the kitchen and make yourself something to eat. Mind you, don't disturb the housekeeper.” Rita said with anger before walking into the room,

Stephan let out a sigh and went into the kitchen to make himself dinner. An hungry man is an angry man. He needed to feed his rumbling stomach. He could hear the sound of the beast inside of him craving food as he dropped the noodles into the pot.

After dinner, Stephan went to take a cold shower and hopped into bed with Rita. He stole a quick glance at her each time to know if she was asleep or not.

Stephan needed to have a talk with his wife, but he was scared. He looked at the clock on the wall and saw it was late, but still he needed to tell his mind. He gently tapped her on the arm and Rita on the lamp beside her. “ What is it?”

“ Can we talk?” Stephan sat upright looking at Rita to do the same. “ Talk? About what exactly and don't you dare beg me to reinstate you back to your work because that is not going to happen. Maxwell had come, and he had come to stay.”

“ Why are you picking Maxwell over me? It is because he is not the type of man you want.” Stephan looked at her.

“Not the type of man that I want? And who are you to tell me the type of man good enough for me? You have got some balls, you know. Why do you think I married you in the first place?” Rita asked, and there was silence. Stephan looked at her like someone who had lost his voice.

“ Don't let me get started!” Rita barked.

“ I know you are still angry about what happened yesterday, but can you just let it go?” Stephan begged.

“ Let it go, you embarrassed me young man!” Rita said, lashing out at him. Stephan knew he had to beg her if he was going to have his way with her that night. The thought of getting Rita pregnant was all he could think about.

“ Maybe she would soften a bit when she was pregnant and carrying his child.” At least that was what Stephan thought to himself. He got out of bed to Rita’s surprise and knelt down in front of her. “ I don't want to fight with you anymore. Can we just push the hatchet?” Stephan said slowly, looking at her face.

“ Sure, of course,” Rita replied, and went back to bed. Stephan felt everything was sorted out and jumped into bed with Rita. He laid his hands on her skin, but she landed a heavy slap on his face. Stephan's face went pale as he looked at her.
