Void Catastrophe Levels

[ Each level-up grants you an additional accumulated point, with each point you can add to the basic stats corresponding to a 1% effectiveness. For example, with 100 Strength, you would be twice as strong as before. ]

There is also another description next to the line "Awakening".

Similar to the RPG games I've played, when characters reach a development threshold, there is an event that helps them break through new strengths and develop further.

At this point, there is an additional note, the dream is so detailed that I almost forget I’m dreaming.

Until awakened by the ring of the bedside phone, I barely woke up from that strange dream. The weird thing here is that the dream felt so real that I didn't feel like I had slept at all, grabbing the phone in a daze to my ear.

"Sebastian! Do you know what time it is? The HR department called me asking where you were!", Simon’s voice harshly screamed through the phone speaker causing my head to ache.

Today is the day I am supposed to go to the HR department to sign a contract and work with the Void Keeper organization, seems like they had me scheduled for eight o'clock this morning.

"Alright, alright, I'm on my way."

I hung up and was shocked to see the time 09:32 on the mobile phone screen. Hastily, I got ready, checked out of the motel, and hurried down to the district's subway station.

Ever since Paradise decided to cooperate with Emerald to build the Emerald - Paradise alliance, due to the difficult transportation in Emerald for effective movement, especially with the Void disaster that could happen at any time, they decided to build high-speed train tunnels connecting the districts of Serenity city.

I’m still not over my sleepiness, tighten my tie and look at the watch that the organization has provided. The Clock’o Keeper watch is integrated with a pre-installed positioning system and corrosion amplitude sensor, if I move too far away from the watch, the corrosion amplitude will drop and the system will send a warning to the government’s communication center, what happens next is well known to everyone.

Just graduated in the countryside, went to the city to play then got dumped by my crush, then got pulled into the Void disaster, got to see the magic show of a mysterious person in that chaotic world then returned to reality, got imprisoned and almost went to the operating table. Finally, I was saved by a beautiful older sister who is the number one Keeper in the world for an unknown reason then got forced to work at this time. Just within a few days, everything happened so fast that I had to struggle to adapt to it.

I yawned on the crowded subway train, suddenly saw a pervert pressing against a petite girl, it seemed like he wanted to mess with her.

“Really, don’t understand why there are people like this everywhere.”

I sighed then approached, pretended to stumble into the pervert causing him to back off, at the same time attracting the attention of the people around.

“A, sorry uncle, I slipped.”

“Damn brat, walk carefully next time!”

The despicable old man angrily moved aside, while I was still bowing and apologizing, making people think that I am a fool. It’s okay, in this bustling city, people will quickly forget about it and return to their daily lives.

“Thank you!”

The owner of that sweet voice is leaning close to me to thank, her short hair looks a bit messy as white as the silver moon along with the red eyes of a foreigner exudes the beauty of the girl, although she looks much younger than me but her chest is just right to full but not too big, suitable for her petite body making my eyes stick to it.

Anyway, that petite body with a shirt and short skirt looks quite attractive, but the face is distinctly Asian.

“Sebastian, do you know that today you have to sign a contract with the organization, really…”

The older sister in the HR department complained and laid out a stack of papers in front of me.

“You just look at the employment contract carefully then decide, if you don’t sign then we will send you to the organization’s special prison for supervision.”

“Of course I sign, I have carefully read the contract that the organization sent via email yesterday.”

I sighed after taking the Void Keeper handbook outside, not really understanding why they gave it to me; it's available all over the world, and we have already been taught about the disaster of The Void in school.

A man in a black vest was already waiting outside, escorting me to the next area for ability testing.

"I am here to answer all your questions about The Void, do you have any, perhaps about the rifts?" the polite employee asked.

"No, I've done some research on them."

The Void comes to our world through rifts, so the size and shape of these rifts significantly affect the disaster that will occur. They are divided into five types:

Level 1 Rift: usually closes immediately after opening, relatively small in size, about the size of an adult. The danger lies in bringing one or a few pure Void creatures to this world, but due to the small size of the rift, mostly only weak creatures or those of similar size can get through.

Level 2 Rift: similar to a level one rift but slightly larger and comes with a weak invasive ability, usually causing dizziness, headaches, and nausea like mild sickness symptoms when near it.

Level 3 Rift: as large as a car, always accompanied by a spatial explosion and has a strong invasive ability. It usually closes after a long period of time or otherwise, the organization will proceed with approaching using a supersonic bomb with the same frequency as the rift to bend the space and patch the rift.

Level 4 Rift: similar to a natural disaster, large in size and comes with an explosion similar to a nuclear bomb, followed by level 4 pure Void creatures. The rift will exist permanently until there is external intervention.

Level 5 Rift: also the most dangerous rift, a combination of all disasters in the world in one place, after which we can only leave the invaded land behind. To date, there is no solution to combat it.

Currently, there have been two level 4 rifts appearing at Rainbow and under the waters of Cedar Cove; at least Rainbow was lucky to retain half of its territory, unlike Crimson Shores with a level 5 rift that lost almost all its territory and only left the states in the Northeast.

I went through some tests about physical strength, power, and intellect, just like going through tests at school. The metrics showed that I have the health of a normal person and slightly better intelligence than them. Finally, the superpower assessment system instead of giving a ranking of my abilities, it gave the result of "Unknown." which means it could not be determined.

This seems to be the first case worldwide as the supervisors thought the system was malfunctioning. Not knowing what to do with my file after re-evaluating several times, they decided to record in my file with an ability rating of "Unknown" and I have to start from rank D.

Those were the details displayed on the screen of my Clock'o Keeper. Typically, after a capability assessment, Void Keepers are assigned a starting rank based on their performance, which is evaluated on combat skills and supernatural abilities.

Not everyone receives supernatural abilities, but the sensing system can predict an individual's potential future capabilities, somewhat like a prophecy.

Up to now, I have no combat experience, and it seems I have no fighting skills or supernatural abilities, so being ranked D isn't surprising. If I want to climb the ranks, I need to work hard to improve myself and complete assigned missions to earn more ranking points.
