“I’m not kidding—I’ll blow up your precious Debra Zachs and this little boy, Martinez, to smithereens!”

Her voice had been laced with desperation, her hand trembling as it hovered over the detonator.

The warehouse had fallen silent, the tension was now suffocating, if not too suffocating.

Victor Tyler had shifted, his voice cutting through the already established tension.

“You’re out of moves, Lara Peterson. You think you’re in control, but you’re not!” His voice was laced with anger and venom as he continued.

“We’ve got eyes on every inch of this place. You press that button, and you’re the first one we take out.”

Lara Peterson's eyes had darted between General Carl Gerald and Victor Tyler, her chest heaving.
