“Now tell me, Carl Gerald.” Clyde Lex’s voice sounded unhinged. “Does the hunt for Sara bring you to the book aisle?”

Clyde Lex asked the same question, this time his voice was detached.

Carl Gerald felt his anger renew as he realized he was almost played by Clyde Lex. Carl Gerald grabbed him by the collar and pushed him violently against a shelf, nearly toppling a few books over.

“What do you know about Sara’s disappearance, Lex?” Carl Gerald asked menacingly.

“Ah, scary!” Clyde Lex’s face had stopped showing any emotions, but his voice was as though he had fear plastered on his face.

Clyde Lex wasn’t capable of feeling emotions, he just considered people around him as tools, only to be tossed away when they were no longer of use.

It even made Clyde Lex a perfect manipulator, and Carl Gerald had almost fallen for it.

“If I were you,” Clyde Lex began, “I wouldn’t be standing here, talking to me.”
