The cold barrel of the pistol dug painfully into the forehead of Griffin.
He kept his milky white eyes completely unfocused. He let his hands shake violently and dropped his white cane on the floor. It clattered loudly against the cheap wooden floorboards.
"I do not know anything." Griffin cried out. He made his breathing fast and panicked. "I just give the street kids my leftover food from the club. Please. I am just a blind masseur. I am nobody."
The second enforcer walked closer. He grabbed Griffin by the collar of his raincoat and slammed him hard against the wall.
He felt so much pain in his back. He gasped loudly, completely hiding his natural fighting instincts.
"You are a liar." The second enforcer spat in his face. "Malakai says the Oracle is using the club to steal from billionaires. You work in the private massage rooms. You hear all their dirty secrets."
"I am deaf in one ear." Griffin pleaded. He pointed at his fake hearing aid with a trembling hand. "I cannot even hear the clients speak half the time. Please, you have the wrong man."
The first enforcer laughed cruelly. He lowered his pistol from Griffin’s forehead
"Maybe he is telling the truth." The first enforcer said. He paused, pulling a long combat knife from his thick leather belt. "Let us test his eyes. If he flinches, we cut his fingers off one by one."
The enforcer raised the sharp knife. He thrust the blade directly toward the right eye of Griffin.
The knife stopped exactly one millimeter away from the milky white contact lens.
Griffin did not blink. He did not flinch. He forced his ocular muscles to stay completely paralyzed. His heart hammered rapidly in his chest, but his face remained a mask of blank, blind terror.
The enforcer stared closely his eyes
"He did not even blink." The enforcer muttered in deep disappointment. He lowered the knife. "He is really completely blind. The boss is paranoid. This guy is just a useless idiot."
"We still have to bring him in." The second enforcer grunted. He raised his heavy fist. "But I am going to soften him up first."
The massive fist crashed directly into Griffin’s stomach
Griffin collapsed to the floor and coughed violently. The physical pain was real. He curled into a tight ball on the wooden floorboards. The enforcer kicked him hard in the ribs.
He groaned in pure agony. He tasted hot blood in his mouth. He let his right hand fall naturally onto his dropped white cane.
The handle of the cane contained a microscopic pressure switch. It was a hidden emergency trigger linked directly to the Sovereign network.
Griffin squeezed the handle twice.
He initiated the diversion protocol.
The second enforcer raised his heavy boot to kick Griffin in the face.
Suddenly, a loud crackle of static echoed in the dark room.
The two way radio attached to the belt of the first enforcer suddenly activated.
A furious, panicked voice came through the small speaker. It was Malakai.
"All units return to the Diamond Casino immediately." Malakai screamed through the radio static. "The Oracle is attacking our main servers. We are losing millions of dollars every single second. Get back here right now."
The two enforcers froze completely. They looked at each other in absolute shock.
"The Oracle is hacking the casino." The first enforcer said. He looked down at Griffin bleeding on the floor. "The boss was wrong. This blind trash is just a nobody. The real Oracle is making his move."
"Let us go." The second enforcer shouted. He grabbed his pistol. "If Malakai loses the casino money, he will kill all of us."
The two massive men turned around and sprinted out of the apartment. They slammed the door hard behind them. Their heavy boots echoed loudly down the concrete stairs.
Griffin stayed curled on the floor for a long time.
He listened carefully until he heard their black van speed away into the rainy night.
He slowly pushed himself up. His ribs burned with terrible pain. He spat a mouthful of blood onto the floor. His entire body ached. Taking a brutal beating from a trained killer was exhausting.
He dragged himself to his small kitchen, opened the rusty sink and splashed cold water on his bruised face.
He wiped his mouth with a cheap paper towel. He looked in the cracked mirror. His lip was split open. His cheek was swollen and turning a dark purple.
He walked back to the living room and picked up his hidden terminal from inside a hollow book on his shelf.
He typed a quick secure message to Nico.
I am safe. The enforcers left. Do you have any information on the location of Sam?
Griffin waited in the dark. The glowing screen cast a pale light on his bruised face. He breathed shallowly to protect his injured ribs.
The terminal buzzed. Nico replied.
The street kids found a black van parked at the old shipyard in Sector Four. Heavily armed guards are patrolling the perimeter. They think Sam is locked inside the main warehouse.
Griffin stared at the screen. Sector Four was completely controlled by the syndicate of Malakai. If he went there himself, he would be killed instantly. He could not fight fifty armed men with a white cane.
Then he typed another command into his encrypted terminal. He logged into the deepest layers of the global dark web and accessed a hidden mercenary market.
He had a massive job to post. And he was going to use the stolen money of Malakai to pay for it.

Griffin slowly lowered the mobile phone from his ear. He stared blindly at the glowing digital billboards lighting up the rainy city.He had won the war, but Chairman Roth had changed the final battlefield. Roth knew he could not defeat the Oracle digitally anymore. He was relying on pure, violent cruelty. He was using innocent street orphans as a human shield to secure his escape."What did he say?" Julian asked nervously. "Was it Roth?""Yes." Griffin said. His voice was completely empty of all emotion. It was the terrifying, cold tone of a man who had accepted his final fate. "He has Father Thomas and two orphans from the shelter. He is at the private Vanguard airstrip.""We have to call the police." Julian panicked, reaching for his phone. "The entire city police force is hunting Roth right now. They will surround the airstrip in ten minutes."Griffin grabbed Julian's wrist firmly. He stopped the boy."No." Griffin commanded. "If Roth sees a single police car, he will execute the

The heavy steel door blew off its hinges, crashing violently onto the floor of the broadcast room.A dozen elite Vanguard security soldiers rushed into the room. They wore heavy tactical armor and carried automatic assault rifles with laser sights. The red lasers cut through the settling white chemical foam, searching for targets."They are in the room." The lead soldier shouted. "Open fire."Griffin did not hesitate. "Get down." He tackled Julian hard, pushing the young hacker behind the thick metal casing of the broadcast console.A storm of heavy bullets tore through the glass walls of the room. The deafening sound of automatic gunfire filled the air. Computer screens shattered. Papers flew everywhere. The solid metal console sparked violently as bullets hammered into its thick armor."We are trapped." Julian screamed over the noise of the gunfire. He covered his head with his shaking hands. "They are going to kill us."Griffin looked around the ruined room. The soldiers were advan

Griffin kept his suppressed pistol aimed at the floor. He was completely exhausted. His stitched leg throbbed with a dull, heavy agony. He looked at the giant man blocking his only path to the central broadcast console."Ten million dollars is a lot of money, Silas." Griffin said softly. His voice was completely calm, cutting through the quiet hum of the massive computer servers. "But Chairman Roth made a terrible mistake today. He sent you to collect a bounty that he can no longer pay."Silas laughed a deep, echoing laugh. "Do not try to play mind games with me, Arthur. The Chairman controls the global banks. He has more money than God.""He had more money than God." Griffin corrected him smoothly. He took one slow step sideways, putting himself slightly between Silas and Julian. "Ten minutes ago, I deployed a highly aggressive, self-replicating virus into the central Vanguard financial hub. The virus is actively destroying the Vanguard accounts right now. The Chairman is completely

The Vanguard Central Broadcast Tower stood like a giant black needle in the center of the wealthy financial district. The rain poured heavily down the sleek glass windows of the massive skyscraper. Bright red aviation lights blinked slowly at the very top of the massive antenna. The building was a fortress. It handled all secure communications for the elite Vanguard organization.Griffin and Julian stood in the dark shadows of an alley directly across the street from the tower.Griffin watched the heavy front doors. Two guards in thick black body armor stood outside, holding assault rifles. The street was completely empty because of the rain and the late hour."We cannot just walk through the front door." Julian whispered, shivering in the cold damp air."We are not going through the front door." Griffin replied softly. "Vanguard relies heavily on automation. The building is heavily guarded, but the security patrols run on a strict digital schedule. When Roth realizes his money is cur

"You can turn around now." Griffin said softly.Julian turned around slowly. He looked at Griffin with a mixture of absolute horror and deep respect. The young hacker had never seen a billionaire stitch his own leg together in a filthy, abandoned garage.Griffin stood up slowly. He tested his weight on his wrapped leg. It hurt terribly, but the bleeding had stopped completely. The tight stitches held firm. He could walk.He took off the bloody, ruined suit jacket and the torn white shirt. He threw the expensive clothes onto the dirty floor. He reached into the gray metal survival box and pulled out a simple, dark black tactical sweater and a pair of heavy black cargo pants. He put them on. He slipped his feet into a pair of quiet, black combat boots. He looked entirely different. The polished, elegant armor of Arthur Cross was gone. He looked like a dangerous shadow."What do we do now?" Julian asked nervously. "Roth has the train station. He has your entire network.""Roth has a buil

Roth hung up the phone. The line went completely dead.Griffin did not hesitate for a single microsecond. He did not yell. He did not throw a tantrum. He immediately dropped the black burner phone onto the floorboard of the car. He raised his heavy leather shoe and stomped down with brutal, crushing force. The expensive plastic and metal shattered into a hundred tiny pieces."What are you doing?" Julian yelled from the driver seat. The young hacker gripped the steering wheel tightly, swerving to avoid a large transport truck in the wet intersection. "That was your only encrypted line.""Roth is arrogant, but he is not a magician." Griffin said coldly. His voice was completely steady, despite the agonizing pain radiating from his thigh. "If he can call a ghost line, he can track a ghost line. He was using the phone call to pinpoint our exact GPS location. Take the next right turn. Now."Julian slammed on the brakes and ripped the steering wheel to the right. The tires squealed loudly a
