The cold barrel of the pistol dug painfully into the forehead of Griffin.
He kept his milky white eyes completely unfocused. He let his hands shake violently and dropped his white cane on the floor. It clattered loudly against the cheap wooden floorboards.
"I do not know anything." Griffin cried out. He made his breathing fast and panicked. "I just give the street kids my leftover food from the club. Please. I am just a blind masseur. I am nobody."
The second enforcer walked closer. He grabbed Griffin by the collar of his raincoat and slammed him hard against the wall.
He felt so much pain in his back. He gasped loudly, completely hiding his natural fighting instincts.
"You are a liar." The second enforcer spat in his face. "Malakai says the Oracle is using the club to steal from billionaires. You work in the private massage rooms. You hear all their dirty secrets."
"I am deaf in one ear." Griffin pleaded. He pointed at his fake hearing aid with a trembling hand. "I cannot even hear the clients speak half the time. Please, you have the wrong man."
The first enforcer laughed cruelly. He lowered his pistol from Griffin’s forehead
"Maybe he is telling the truth." The first enforcer said. He paused, pulling a long combat knife from his thick leather belt. "Let us test his eyes. If he flinches, we cut his fingers off one by one."
The enforcer raised the sharp knife. He thrust the blade directly toward the right eye of Griffin.
The knife stopped exactly one millimeter away from the milky white contact lens.
Griffin did not blink. He did not flinch. He forced his ocular muscles to stay completely paralyzed. His heart hammered rapidly in his chest, but his face remained a mask of blank, blind terror.
The enforcer stared closely his eyes
"He did not even blink." The enforcer muttered in deep disappointment. He lowered the knife. "He is really completely blind. The boss is paranoid. This guy is just a useless idiot."
"We still have to bring him in." The second enforcer grunted. He raised his heavy fist. "But I am going to soften him up first."
The massive fist crashed directly into Griffin’s stomach
Griffin collapsed to the floor and coughed violently. The physical pain was real. He curled into a tight ball on the wooden floorboards. The enforcer kicked him hard in the ribs.
He groaned in pure agony. He tasted hot blood in his mouth. He let his right hand fall naturally onto his dropped white cane.
The handle of the cane contained a microscopic pressure switch. It was a hidden emergency trigger linked directly to the Sovereign network.
Griffin squeezed the handle twice.
He initiated the diversion protocol.
The second enforcer raised his heavy boot to kick Griffin in the face.
Suddenly, a loud crackle of static echoed in the dark room.
The two way radio attached to the belt of the first enforcer suddenly activated.
A furious, panicked voice came through the small speaker. It was Malakai.
"All units return to the Diamond Casino immediately." Malakai screamed through the radio static. "The Oracle is attacking our main servers. We are losing millions of dollars every single second. Get back here right now."
The two enforcers froze completely. They looked at each other in absolute shock.
"The Oracle is hacking the casino." The first enforcer said. He looked down at Griffin bleeding on the floor. "The boss was wrong. This blind trash is just a nobody. The real Oracle is making his move."
"Let us go." The second enforcer shouted. He grabbed his pistol. "If Malakai loses the casino money, he will kill all of us."
The two massive men turned around and sprinted out of the apartment. They slammed the door hard behind them. Their heavy boots echoed loudly down the concrete stairs.
Griffin stayed curled on the floor for a long time.
He listened carefully until he heard their black van speed away into the rainy night.
He slowly pushed himself up. His ribs burned with terrible pain. He spat a mouthful of blood onto the floor. His entire body ached. Taking a brutal beating from a trained killer was exhausting.
He dragged himself to his small kitchen, opened the rusty sink and splashed cold water on his bruised face.
He wiped his mouth with a cheap paper towel. He looked in the cracked mirror. His lip was split open. His cheek was swollen and turning a dark purple.
He walked back to the living room and picked up his hidden terminal from inside a hollow book on his shelf.
He typed a quick secure message to Nico.
I am safe. The enforcers left. Do you have any information on the location of Sam?
Griffin waited in the dark. The glowing screen cast a pale light on his bruised face. He breathed shallowly to protect his injured ribs.
The terminal buzzed. Nico replied.
The street kids found a black van parked at the old shipyard in Sector Four. Heavily armed guards are patrolling the perimeter. They think Sam is locked inside the main warehouse.
Griffin stared at the screen. Sector Four was completely controlled by the syndicate of Malakai. If he went there himself, he would be killed instantly. He could not fight fifty armed men with a white cane.
Then he typed another command into his encrypted terminal. He logged into the deepest layers of the global dark web and accessed a hidden mercenary market.
He had a massive job to post. And he was going to use the stolen money of Malakai to pay for it.

You need absolute rest.""I do not have time to rest." Griffin said. He slowly put on a clean white t-shirt. The simple movement sent a sharp spike of pain through his side. "The bounty on the blind masseur is cancelled because nobody is paying for it. You won. You have hundreds of millions of dollars right now. You can disappear."Griffin reached into his pocket. He did not expect the man in front of him to find the situation funny."You think I am your missing masseur?" Griffin asked. He smiled a cold, mocking smile. "You think a billionaire venture capitalist works part time rubbing your tight shoulders in a basement?""My security chief saw you on the cameras." Malakai snapped. "You were typing on an encrypted terminal. You have a data siphon. You are the Oracle.""I am Arthur Cross." Griffin said smoothly. He took a slow step forward. The bar

"And I know everyone with money in this city.""I operate mostly out of London." Griffin smiled politely. "I specialize in distressed assets. I buy beautiful things that have recently caught on fire."Malakai stiffened. His eyes flashed with sudden anger. The mention of the fire was a direct insult about his destroyed casino."Are you mocking me, Mr. Cross?" Malakai asked in a deadly whisper."I am offering you a lifeline." Griffin replied calmly. He took another sip of his champagne. "The entire room knows you are bleeding cash. The casino bombing cost you half a billion dollars in physical assets a

"You untied the street rat.""I smelled burning meat sir." Griffin panicked perfectly. His voice cracked with genuine-sounding fear. "The pipe exploded. I tripped over the
