I could barely believe what was right in front of me. A whooping sum of $2,000,000 right in my account.
I counted the Zeros again and I couldn't believe it. I looked around trying to see if I was not dreaming. I slapped my face and I screamed [ OUCH! ] Another message popped right in front of me yet again. [ SYSTEM MESSAGE ; YOU HAVE TWO WEEKS TO SPEND THE MONEY HOW EVER YOU WISH. ] The game slowly uninstalled itself off my phone. For a moment, I was not sure if I should be happy or sad. That was my lottery ticket to wealth and fame. And it just disappeared. I wasn't bothered. Rather my brain swung into formation Andi began to calculate how I was going to spend the sum of $2,000,000 within two weeks. I know it is a lot of money but damn! I have a lot of things that need to be done. First, I was going to tear down the cafe and build a new one for Madam Tracy. She deserves the very best. She has housed me when I don't even have anywhere to go too. But first, I need to make sure the money is real. I need to be sure. I got off the pavement dusting my buttocks as I ran down the street. My heart is pumping so much blood that I needed to take a breather when I got to the ATM machine. I met a long queue. I furrowed my brows a little and waited. The line was fast as many people don't really have much to cash out from the machine. I kind of felt nervous and praised that the money should not finish in my turn. Getting to the front of the machine, I let out a gentle breath and for the first time I praised, hoped that the money was right inside my account. I just needed $10,000 out of the money in the bank. That was enough to make me believe I was two million dollars richer. I pressed the amount needed and waited for the money to come out but then after waiting for eternity. Nothing! I stylishly looked back to see the bald man who had a frown on his face. It was evident I was wasting time. " One more try." I said reassuring myself that the money was real. I pressed the daily button with shaky hands and waited. But then, another error message flashed before my very eyes. " Your account is insufficient." " Get out of the way boy and stop wasting our time!" he said with a grumpy voice. His muscular arms kicked me off the line and I fell to the dusty floors with my eyes fixed on him. I watched as he pressed the number as the solar cash flew out. He let out a grin and looked at me " That is how you command it, you don't coke down to the machine when you don't have anything to command." he ranted. I grabbed my phone and looked at the message I got from the bank. Was this a fake alert? Or was Derek planning another staunt? [ AFTER WAITING FOR HOURS ] My phone rang several times and I saw it was Tracy. I knew she was either calling because I had left without talking to her or because she was worried. I looked at my rusty and old ATM. I have had it for a very long time. I looked at the bubbling street and I felt the world was cruel. I got up and decided to give it a list trial before heading home. I slid the card into the machine and closed my eyes. But then, I heard the gentle hum of the machine and the fast roll of something that sounded more like paper. It was counting! What? My eyeslid flipped up as the money popped right out. " Yeah! Yes!" I shouted a lot of attention towards me. I smiled as I pocketed the ten thousand dollar note. Then it crossed my mind. I had seen the shoes and clothes Mrs Tracy wore when she went to plead for me at the university. It was old, worn out and tattered. It was only right for me to appreciate her and get her another. I walked down the stairs feeling like a king and waved a cab. " Where to kid?" the driver who had burnt teeth from smoking looked at me. " Do you know the most exotic and expensive boutique in town?" I asked staring at him. I saw the way he looked at me and laughed. " Why don't you sow your clothes according to your size kid? You can't afford any of those fancy dresses." He replied laughing weirdly. " Why don't you mind your business and drive me down there?" I said making him shut the hell up. The car ignited and soon we were on our way to the most exotic boutique. I hailed the cab and headed to the most exotic boutique in town, feeling like a million bucks – or rather, two million bucks. The driver's skepticism only fueled my determination to splurge on something extraordinary. As we arrived at the boutique, I could feel my excitement building up. I was going to get Mrs. Tracy the most stunning outfit, something that would make her feel like royalty. I stepped into the boutique, and my eyes widened in awe. The racks were filled with designer dresses, sparkling jewelry, and luxurious accessories. I approached the sales associate, a stylish woman with a warm smile. "Hello, sir! Welcome to our boutique. How may I assist you today?" she asked, eyeing my casual attire with a hint of curiosity. "I'm looking for something special," I said, my eyes scanning the racks. "Something that will catch the eye. I want to buy a gift for someone very special." The sales associate's face lit up with interest. "Well, we have just the thing. Follow me, please." she said slowly glancing at my faded outfit She led me to a section of the boutique that seemed to be reserved for the crème de la crème of fashion. I gasped as I saw the prices, but I didn't care. I was on a mission to find the perfect gift. As I browsed through the racks, the sales associate told me about the designers, the fabrics, and the inspiration behind each piece. I was impressed by her knowledge and passion for fashion. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, I found it – the perfect outfit. It was a stunning evening gown, with intricate lace details and a subtle sparkle that seemed to dance in the light. "This is it," I said, my heart racing with excitement. "I'll take it." The sales associate smiled, clearly pleased with my choice. "Excellent taste, sir. I'll get you set up with the alterations and the accessories." As I waited for the sales associate to ring up my purchase, I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and accomplishment. I was doing something special for someone who truly deserved it. But then the door spring opened and my smile faded into anger. " And what is a church rat doing in an expensive boutique such as this?" The voice said walking towards me

Love?Looking at her everyday, staring into her face was making me forget I have ever fallen in love before. Sandra was everything that I had hoped for. She was compassionate, kind, caring and loving and she does things without me asking for it. Mrs Tracy noticed the closeness between us and I am sure she is happy with it. I was slightly distracted from my phone and was mainly concentrating on my studies. The nightmare was consistent. I barely sleep at night. The system still haunts me. As the thunder crackled, My eyes snapped open only to see Sandra seated right in front of me. " What are you doing?" I asked her, trying to get to the switch. Sandra's gaze locked on mine as the light illuminated the darkness casting a gentle glow inside the room. " I came to wake you up for super but you were.." She paused " I was what?" I said immediately grabbing a towel to clean my sweaty face. " You were mumbling some words in your dream. And also you called Thomas's name." Sandra added "

I stayed by the sink for a long time, gripping its edge, my chest rising and falling like I’d just escaped something—only I hadn’t. Nothing was chasing me. Nothing was here. The hallway outside my room was silent, save for the ticking clock in the living room and the distant hum of the fridge. Still, I felt it. That presence. Like someone—or something—was watching me from behind the mirror. “Snap out of it,” I muttered to myself, running a towel over my face. I tried to steady my breathing and tried to convince myself that it was just my subconscious acting up. After all, I had been involved in more death and chaos than any regular teenager should have been. Maybe this was trauma. Or PTSD. Or maybe… the system wasn't done with me.No. I shook the thought from my head violently. It was done. The app was gone. The missions had stopped. My account wasn’t refilling. No new mission. No late-night texts telling me someone needed to die before dawn or else I’d be the one gone. I was

Maybe it was for the best. If I was not inputted into the system anymore, then maybe I was let go. I still don't know what it meant for me, and it was nerve-wracking. I could feel a thousand eyes on me each time I turned around the school corridors. I don't need to be told who the gamers were anymore. I had seen enough of them back in my past to know who was who and who was now in the gaming system. Olivia. Zara. They still pretended I was invisible, like I didn't matter to them. And the likes of Zack and Elliot's brother were back to taunt me again. The life I thought I had left behind was slowly catching up to me yet again. It's been days, no weeks. No message from the system, no mission, and no upgrades. It was like I was let go each time I thought about it. I don't know if I should be thankful or sad. The fact remains that I don't need to look over my shoulders anymore. I was not scared of anyone coming for my head except Elliott's brother, who still gives me the chills.

The sound came in faintly—like whispers on the edge of a dream. At first, I thought it was part of the nightmare: blood on my hands, voices screaming in reverse, a countdown that never hit zero. But when I jolted awake, the whispers stopped. I got out of my bed and looked at the time on the wall. It was dawn, barely morning. I grabbed my watch and strapped it to my wrist. I needed to go for a job to clear my head before I get ready for school. I walked out of my room and decided to check on Mrs Tracy. I pushed the door a little and I saw she was still fast asleep cuddled up in her bed. I walked in and kissed her on her head. " Morning mother." I spoke softly into her ears. " Morning son." Mrs Tracy spoke softly rolling on the bed before I walked out. A part of me wished I lived a normal life. A life without the system, a life where I don't have to look over my shoulders all the time. But I guess it was too late now. I need to keep playing until I win. If I win.

I stared into her eyes for what felt like forever.A promise? It sounded simple. Ordinary. But in my world, a promise could get someone killed. A promise could expose you to truths you weren’t ready for. A promise could trap you in a reality you no longer understood.“I…” The word hung in the air between us like smoke from a fire I wasn’t ready to put out. “I can’t promise that.”Her expression faltered. Just a flicker. But it was enough to feel like a slap. Mrs Tracy could barely believe what I just said. I was sure she would have given me a spank if I were her real child, but something in her eyes felt calm. Maybe she was being understanding about what I said, or maybe she had finally given up. There was a limit to everything a person can take. Maybe she had reached her limit this time around. “I’m sorry,” I added quickly, trying to soften the blow. “It’s not because I don’t trust you. It’s because—because the things I’m dealing with, the stuff that’s happening—it’s not normal,

If you ask me if my mother was blowing things out of proportion, then I would say no, actually. She has all the right to make sure I was fine and well looked after. After all, she was my mother. The thought of what was going to happen to me if I didn't go back to the same school scared the hell out of me. I didn't have friends, actually. In fact, I had more enemies. Enemies that were ready to bury me in seconds. But still I was having enough to last me a lifetime, or should I say through my school days.Maybe it was for the best, but all of this still felt like I was in a bad dream and I was going to wake up any moment from now. I looked at my mother, and I could still see her angered face.I let out a sigh when I was finally sure I was not dreaming."You are not going back there. If we are paying so much for the tuition fees and they are not ready to treat you right, then I say we change schools. My sister should be back anytime soon." Mrs. Tracy looked at me."Yes.
