"It seems your mother didn't teach you how to speak to people above you,” Ariel spat.

The look on Stephanie's face was first of shock and then of confusion, and then she gradually became furious.

“How dare you?” She spat with blazing anger in her eyes as she glared at her.

“How dare me? How dare a low life like you try to belittle my husband to be?”

She tried to slap Ariel, but Ariel caught her hand in swift fashion before she could land.

She attempted to slap her with her free hand but failed.

“You are one very stubborn girl.” Ariel spat and in one swift movement, she put her in a headlock.

“Refrain from attempting to perform any of your stupid acts on me, you will fall.” She said, close to her ear.

Jeremy knew that this was an inappropriate time, but he had never been so turned on in my life.

He watched as my ex-girlfriend struggled to get out of Ariel's hold.

“I'll report you to the cops!” She shouted.

“Are you sure you want to do that? Because I know all of your dirty little secrets, and I'm very certain it wouldn't serve you very well if I decided to spill them to said cops.”

“You know nothing!”

“Try me, you brat.” She said in the most sultry but dominant voice he had ever heard.

All the second thoughts he had been having duly disappeared as he watched Ariel speak to his ex-girlfriend like she was beneath her.

“Jeremy!” He heard his sister call out his name, and he glanced up to find her rushing towards him.

“What's going on? What happened to you? Who are these people?” She asked in one breath.

Jeremy glanced around and realized for the first time that they weren't alone. There were nurses and paramedics all around him, and passers-by had stopped to watch the scene.

Even the men who had come with his ex-girlfriend were now on the floor, beaten down by Ariel's men.

“Isn't that your girlfriend in a headlock?”

His sister pointed out, surprise lacing her voice.

“I'm going to let go of you now. If you cause Jeremy any more trouble, I will destroy your already pitiful existence.” With that, she let go of her and stepped back.

“You will regret what you've done!”

She yelled out.

“And you!” She pointed an accusing finger at Jeremy. “Don't think you are going to get away with this.” She spat and with that ran off.

"What the hell just happened?” His sister asked.

“I'm not sure where to begin.” He said quietly, watching as his wife to be walked towards him.

“Are you alright?” She asked evenly.

“I'm fine, are you? I mean, of course you are…”

“Can you move?” She examined him with her eyes.

“Yes, I can.”

“God, then you'll need to change into a tux, so we can get to court and get married.”

“Wait! What?” His sister looked over at him.

“What is she talking about, Jeremy?” His sister asked, fully facing him now.

“What the hell is going on here? What, aren't you saying anything?!”

“I'm sorry sis, but I'll have to leave right now, I'll explain when I get back.”

He told my sister, who looked less than pleased by his answer.

“Take care of mom and don't make her worry.”

With that, he rushed away from her and towards Ariel who was already getting into the car.

They drove in silence to the town hall, where there was a priest and a man, he assumed, were related to her.

The man began and they both said their vows in front of a priest and signed their marriage certificate in front of a judge.

It all happened a little too fast, but he guessed it had to since it was not a big elaborate wedding.

“You are awfully quiet.” Ariel said when they were in the car without looking at him.

“It's just… everything is happening so fast…”

“That's how court weddings work, Jeremy.”

“Not just the wedding…”

“Then what? Are you having second thoughts?” She asked, still looking straight ahead.

“No, not that… I have many questions.”

“The only answer you need to know is that yes, I will, in fact, provide everything I stated in the bar yesterday and more if you like.”

This time, she did look at me. My breath caught, she really did change a lot from the timid girl he used to know. She was beautiful. The kind of beauty that catches you off guard and proceeds to disarm you.

It was dumb and wishful thinking of him, but he wanted her in unholy and inappropriate ways that would make her sob in pleasure.

“Did you hear me?” Her voice penetrated his thoughts.

“Yeah.” He nodded a little too quickly.

The truth was, He hadn't heard a single thing she had said, but he was sure it didn't quite matter.

They stopped in the driveway of a big mansion that looked like a manor from the Victorian times.

He whistled out loud as he came down from the car, getting a better view of the place.

“This is huge." He said out loud.

“Yes, you'll be living here with me.” She said as she handed her jacket to one of her bodyguards.

She was wearing a pencil skirt that showed off her elegant curves and a black dress shirt that was tucked within. She looked like a woman that commands respect and power wherever she went without having to speak. He had no idea he was attracted to women in power until today.

“Are you going to come in, Jeremy,” She called from a distance.

“Yeah, certainly.” He said, and briskly followed her into the mansion.

“So, these are my terms of our marriage.” She slid a document to him

He opened the documents and read through it.

“Are you okay with everything?” She asked after giving him time to finish.

“I think so.”

"Your wife? That woman is my property, my wife." "Look man, I don't know what century you are from but women are no longer properties and she is mine. You come near her and I'll kill her and then kill you." Jeremy's words were vicious. The big man's eyes widened in shock. "Are you insane?" He asked. "I'm more than insane. Catherine belongs to me and will only belong to me.* Catherine was behind Jeremy shivering in fear now. "Fine, you can have her but watch your back ... this isn't over." The big man warned and turned around, knowing he wouldn't be able to win this battle in such a public place. His only option was to leave and bid his time. "Thank you so much," Catherine said to Jeremy as soon as the man left. Jermey glared at her. "Keep your thanks to yourself and stay away from me." He spat and began to walk towards the boarding terminal. His phone rang before he could g

Jeremy got home that night but his mother was already asleep which was exactly what he hoped for. He wasn't sure he had it in him to talk to her about all that happened. He knew how she would take it and didn't want to stress her out. He already knew what to tell her about the organization. A simple "It's not something I'm interested in" would suffice. As soon as he got to his room, he jumped into the shower. The words of Collins echoed in his ears. “You can't say no to us. You have ties with us.” He was in a pickle because he knew they weren't going to let him go easily and would probably continue to send him letters. He had to figure out a way to get them off his back and the trip he was about to take tomorrow was going to be the start of it. After showering, he dressed up and fell asleep. Jeremy woke up to the sound of his alarm clock and his phone ringing at the same time. He dismissed the

“Nice to meet you,” Jeremy extended his hands for a handshake but instead of a handshake, Collins moved in for a hug. Jeremy stiffened for a millisecond the hug lasted and frowned when the man smiled wide. “So, how are you finding the party, Jeremy?” The man asked, leading Jeremy towards the various takes where different men played games. A few women were also in attendance and they were dressed normally. Jeremy could not help wondering if all of the people out there were new members like he was or maybe they were just floor members and not executives. The man showing him around was an older man with a pretty face and huge glasses. He looked more like a nerd than a billionaire. Jeremy noticed a lot of other men that he recognized in a casino looking parry. Some of them waved at him and he waved back. He was still a bit uneasy the deeper they went into the room. “So, what do you think?” He aske

  • Chapter 100

Jeremy stood in front of the mirror as he got ready for the party he'd been invited to. It had been two days since the letter arrived and it had come in a peculiar way.. It had been inside a small shaped coffin with roses decorating it. He had a feeling it had something to do with the theme of the party. ‘The dead’ was the theme and it confused Jeremy why they had chosen something so dark and controversial but then again, they sounded more like a cult than a club so he wasn't surprised. “Are you ready to go sir?” Amy barged in. Jeremy turned to look at her his secretary and nodded. “Yes, I think so. How do I look?* I asked. “Great… Oh your tie,” She pointed. “It's a little crooked.” She said, Jeremy tried to rearrange his tie but he only made it worse. “I'll just help you.” She said and made her way towards her boss. She forced him to look her way and the

""Boss?" Sophia frowned, a confused look on her face. "Yes, I have been trying to tell you. Jeremy is the head of the Verde's headquarters." Sophia's eyes widened at the words of her husband and a look of horror covered her face. "Wait... I don't understand.' "It's not that hard to understand, my name is Jeremy and I am the head and CEO of Verde. Nice to meet you!" Jeremy said in a mocking tone. Amy smirked, enjoying the look on the old woman's face. She seemed to Frozen in place, trying to figure out what to do and she loved it. "Um, well. Nice to meet you, officially, Jeremy." She extended her hands for a handshake but Jeremy didn't move to take it even though his mother clearly wanted him to. "Yes, nice indeed." Jeremy said sarcastically and turned to Amy. "Let's go," He said and followed Any out of the lobby. "I didn't realize your son was the head of Verde, Rieda, you'v

"The car is outside, boss." Amy said as she walked into the living room where Jeremy and his mother sat, talking. Jeremy glanced up at Amy and nodded. "We'll be out in a second, thanks Amy," "Of course, sir." Amy nodded and made her way outside to wait for them. "Come on, mom..we gotta go." Jeremy said to his mother and helped her up. They both found their way out of the house and got into the car. They were on their way to Verde's headquarters. Amy had found out about a few things about Reginald as Jeremy had expected. They'd discovered the fact that Reginald not only had ties with the Verde's company but that he was involved in some shady business that had the potential to drag the name of the Verdes in the mud if word got out and he planned on putting a stop to it as soon as possible. There was no concrete evidence yet but there were a lot of things that didn't seem to ad
