"Xavier, what are you still doing here?"

In the Lewis family courtyard, Lucy eagerly examined the gifts, and upon noticing Xavier still standing aside, she frowned in displeasure.

"I want to stay with my wife and daughter," Xavier said.

He returned to make amends for his regrets and would not leave just because of a few words from Lucy.

"Your wife and daughter aren't here. This is my house. Get out," Lucy demanded, shaking with rage.

"I remember when we bought this courtyard, I was the one who paid for it, and it's registered in my name," Xavier said, touching his nose with a smirk.

Before Lucy could speak, he continued, "Of course, even if my death certificate is issued, it doesn't matter. As long as I prove I'm still alive, I can reclaim everything. Then, who knows who will have to leave?"

"You, you ungrateful brat! How did the Lewis family produce such an ungrateful scoundrel like you? You came back to seize the house. Why hasn't lightning struck you down?" Lucy cried out in anger.

"Relax, I'm invincible. Even the heavens can't strike me down," Xavier chuckled, finding Lucy's anger somewhat amusing.

"You're trying to drive me to my grave, Sophie, look, this is his true face. Do you see it clearly? He's back to seize the child and the money. He's after my life..." Lucy turned to Sophie, crying out.

"Mom."

What she didn't expect was that Sophie didn't help her. Instead, she coldly said, "Enough already. Don't think I don't know what you did yesterday."

"What did I do?" Lucy felt a pang of guilt.

"Sienna has told me everything," Sophie said, breathing heavily, looking at Lucy with disappointment. "Are you really my mother? Sienna is your own granddaughter, and you sold her!"

"If Xavier hadn't arrived in time, I can't imagine what would have happened."

"I'm so tired and worn out already. Why, why does everyone have to treat me like this, why..."

Tears streamed down uncontrollably.

Looking at this familiar home, at her familiar parents, Sophie felt utterly drained at that moment.

Her mother was bent on using her for wealth and status.

Her father was weak and incompetent.

Her sister was ignorant.

I once believed I could rely on him for a lifetime, but after disappearing for five years, he returned.

But can things ever go back to the way they were?

"I... I did it for your own good," Lucy mumbled under her breath, not daring to say more.

Seeing Sophie about to break down, Xavier's heart ached, and he couldn't help but step forward, wanting to hold her in his arms.

"Stop."

With tears in her eyes, Sophie cried out, "You can stay, but it's all for our daughter. We can't go back to how things were, you know?"

Xavier's hand froze mid-air, and he nodded bitterly, "Alright."

Being able to stay was a good start.

"Mom, Dad, where are you..." At this moment, Sienna's voice came from inside the house. The little girl gingerly stepped out, and because her foot was still injured, every step she took made her wince in pain.

Xavier quickly rushed over to pick up his daughter, looking at her with a pained expression, "Sweetheart, Daddy's here."

"Daddy, please don't leave, okay? All the other kids have dads, but Sienna doesn't, and they all laugh at me. I want to tell them that Sienna has a dad too." Little Sienna looked up at Xavier with a pleading gaze.

"Daddy won't leave, Daddy will never leave. You have a dad, and your dad is the most amazing person in the world." Xavier's heart ached, and he held his daughter tightly.

"Mom, Sienna has a dad too, that's great." Sienna turned to Sophie, her face lighting up with joy.

"Yes, my daughter has always had a dad." Sophie nodded firmly, tears streaming down her cheeks.

For her daughter, she was willing to let go of everything.

Meanwhile, Lucy frowned on the side, "I should have gotten rid of this little girl earlier. Now it's a big problem. Fortunately, Serena is doing well. Find a time to have her meet Daniel and set the wedding date, so we can enjoy a peaceful life and not live in this shabby house anymore."

Looking at Xavier, she was full of displeasure, "Enjoy your moment, as if I enjoy living in this rundown courtyard."

She never considered that six years ago, when Julian's business failed and he was downcast, being kicked out of the Lewis family residence by the old ladyship, if Xavier hadn't bought this courtyard for them, they would have been on the streets long ago.

At this moment, Julian came out with a phone in his hand, looking panicked, "My mom called and wants the whole family to go to the main house for dinner, and she specifically mentioned that Xavier should come too. What should we do?"

"What?" Lucy's face changed.

This isn't just a dinner invitation; it's clearly a summons for interrogation!

Seeing Xavier still holding Sienna and standing there, Lucy became furious and pushed Xavier out of the courtyard, "Why are you still standing there? Didn't you hear the old lady wants you at dinner? Hurry up and get a nice outfit, don't embarrass me."

Sophie wanted to follow, but Lucy stopped her, "Sophie, you don't need to go. I'll have you pick some jewelry from Serena's betrothal gifts to wear, just consider it borrowed."

Serena showed a hint of smugness on her face.

Seeing this, Sophie forced a smile, "Thank you, little sister."

Thinking about her own marriage, which had turned her into the biggest joke in Cloud City, while her younger sister Serena was chosen by the son of Cloud City's richest man, Daniel, with such invaluable betrothal gifts, the contrast was striking.

A sense of desolation rose in her heart.

Outside the door, Xavier silently watched all this, sighed softly, and said to his daughter, "Sweetheart, how about Daddy takes you shopping?"

"Yes, yes, what about Mommy?" The little girl, being young, clapped her hands happily as soon as she heard about going shopping.

"Mommy will wait for us at home, and we'll buy her something, okay?" Xavier said softly.

"Daddy, let's go quickly then."

Xavier naturally couldn't refuse his little princess's request.

He carried the little girl to the street corner, where Xander had been waiting for a long time.

After greeting him, he got into the car, settled the little girl, and then with a serious expression, instructed,

"Go shopping, and also find out what the most precious jewelry available in Cloud City is, and deliver it to me within an hour. Additionally, search for treasures worldwide and deliver them to my wife's hands one by one."

"Those so-called most precious jewels in the world only show their true value when worn by my wife. Who else is worthy to wear them?"

As Xavier returned to the Lewis family courtyard, he heard Lucy's scolding voice, "I said we shouldn't let that ungrateful wretch Xavier come back, but you insisted on agreeing. Later, when he goes to the main house for dinner, he's sure to get scolded by the matriarch.""Sigh..."She let out a weary sigh, and the excitement from the gifts sent by Daniel was gone at the thought of the impending scolding from the matriarch."Mom, I know very well who was right and who was wrong last night."Sophie, holding Sienna, said coldly, "Today's incident was Xavier's fault. I'll make him apologize to Cheryl.""Mommy, Daddy wasn't wrong."At this moment, little Sienna looked up and said, "Aunt Cheryl was the one who first called me a little monster, that's why Daddy got angry. That uncle said bad things about Mommy, and that's why Daddy hit him.""What?

Seeing his daughter so fascinated by ordinary things like a merry-go-round, he felt increasingly guilty.Other children at this age spend their days playing, having experienced all sorts of novelties, not just a small merry-go-round.But his precious daughter had seen nothing! He didn't blame Sophie. Over the years, Sophie had single-handedly supported the entire family while raising a child, which was already very difficult. He felt guilty for not returning sooner."Oh, isn't that Sophie's little rascal? How come she's playing here with a man? Could he be Sophie's lover?"While the father and daughter were enjoying themselves, a tall, luxuriously dressed young woman with heavy makeup leaned against a

Hurry up and take the flowers, invite Kyle in to sit."As for Xavier, she completely ignored him."Auntie, it's fine; we're all family here. Xander was furious, a fierce, threatening presence emanating from him."She's already been dealt with, no need to act further."Xavier waved his hand.Although the middle-aged woman seemed to have fainted from a single kick, in truth, in his anger, the force of that kick had already left her badly hurt, and she would not recover easily."Sir, what about Sophie? Xander was still unable to calm his anger."I haven't seen Sophie yet..."Xavier sighed slightly, recounting the events at the hotel to Xander, then calmly said, "Send a message to the Rivers family, telling the family head to come and apologize on their knees within three days.""Sir, just a mere young ma
