“That should prove what I can do. Satisfied?”
The burly guard walked over to Andrew and spoke calmly.
Andrew smiled.
“Not bad. Starting today, you’re the new head of security.”
Bonnie Hunt had no objection.
She had seen everything that had just happened with her own eyes.
More importantly, she finally knew why those people had kept coming to cause trouble at her company.
Someone had been sending them.
As for who that someone might be, Bonnie already had a pretty good guess.
A moment later, the sound of police sirens came from outside.
More than a dozen officers quickly entered the building.
The woman leading them was none other than someone Andrew knew very well.
Scarlett Spears.
The moment Scarlett saw Andrew, her eyes practically burned with anger.
She stopped dead in her tracks and stared at him.
“Captain Spears, these people came into my company and caused trouble,” Bonnie said. “I’ll leave them to you.”
Andrew glanced between the two women.
On the surface, Bonnie and Scarlett acted as though they barely knew each other.
But their eyes kept meeting.
There was clearly more to their relationship than they were letting on.
“Take all of them in,” Scarlett ordered coldly.
Then she turned her gaze back toward Andrew.
“You just wait. I’m going to come back for you.”
Andrew merely smiled and said nothing.
He actually found the woman rather interesting.
She really refused to let him go.
Still, he didn’t mind.
A man’s life would be far too lonely if there weren’t at least a few troublesome women around him.
Soon, Scarlett and the other officers escorted all the troublemakers away.
Peace finally returned to Bonnie’s company.
...
Inside Bonnie’s office.
“What did you just say? Fire the security team?”
Bonnie immediately rejected the suggestion.
“If I fire them, then who’s supposed to handle security for the company?”
After what had happened earlier, Andrew had already figured out that most of the company’s security guards were practically useless.
The moment trouble appeared, their first instinct was to back away.
Keeping people like that around was no different from keeping decorations by the front door.
If anything, a few guard dogs might have been more useful.
That was why Andrew had suggested replacing most of them.
Andrew leaned back casually.
“Women really do make stupid decisions sometimes.”
His eyes dropped briefly.
“Good thing the solution is standing right in front of you. I can handle the job.”
“What?”
Bonnie stared at him.
He had only just arrived at her company, and now he was already assigning himself a position.
But seeing how confident Andrew looked, she eventually gave a reluctant nod.
“Fine.”
“Leave it to me.”
Andrew grinned.
“I guarantee your company’s security will be on a completely different level.”
Bonnie still had her doubts, but she couldn’t think of a better option at the moment.
So she decided to let Andrew handle it however he wanted.
She only hoped he wouldn’t create an even bigger problem.
Right now, her biggest concern was something else.
Who exactly had been repeatedly sending people to harass her company?
What did they really want?
And why were they targeting her?
Just then, Lana’s phone rang.
After listening for a few moments, her expression darkened.
“Lana, what happened?” Bonnie asked.
Bonnie and Lana Lanson had always been close, so despite Lana technically being her secretary, Bonnie usually just called her Lana.
“Peak Group just called,” Lana said. “They want to discuss a possible partnership. They’re asking you to meet with them tonight.”
“Peak Group wants to work with us?”
Bonnie frowned.
Something didn’t feel right.
She had heard only a few days ago that Peak Group was already negotiating a partnership with Cash Corporation.
Apparently, they had even reviewed the contract.
So why were they suddenly approaching her company now?
“Ms. Hunt, Peak Group is already working with Cash Corporation,” Lana said carefully. “I’ve also heard they’ve gone through most of the contract terms. For Lionel Cruise to suddenly contact us at this stage... I don’t think it’s that simple.”
Andrew had been listening from the side.
He more or less understood what was going on.
There was definitely something suspicious about the invitation.
After thinking for a moment, a faint smile appeared on his face.
“Someone invites you to dinner and you don’t go?”
He shrugged.
“Wouldn’t that be a little rude?”
“It’s really not that simple,” Lana said. “Mr. Cruise has a certain reputation. He’s a notorious womanizer, and he’s already—”
“Lana.”
Bonnie cut her off.
“He just started working here. There’s no point telling him all this.”
No matter what Lionel Cruise was really after, the invitation was still an opportunity.
Bonnie’s company hadn’t been doing particularly well lately.
If Peak Group was genuinely willing to offer them a good project, turning it down without even hearing the proposal would be foolish.
Andrew, meanwhile, had already understood what Lana meant.
This Mr. Cruise was obviously no saint.
He was the kind of man who used business meetings as an excuse to get close to women.
And this time, his target was clearly Bonnie.
Andrew’s smile deepened slightly.
Fine.
He wouldn’t mind meeting the man himself.
Bonnie thought for a moment.
“Lana, tell them I’ll be there tonight.”
“Ms. Hunt, I really think you should reconsider. I just feel like—”
“Exactly.”
Andrew suddenly interrupted her.
“There’s nothing to reconsider. Of course she should go.”
Then he added without the slightest hesitation,
“And I’m going too.”
Both women stared at him speechlessly.
This man really knew how to involve himself in everything.
But after thinking about what had just happened downstairs, Bonnie had to admit that having Andrew there might actually be useful.
After all, he had solved a problem that had been giving her headaches for days.
So in the end, she neither agreed nor refused.
...
Meanwhile, elsewhere in Riverside City.
Inside the headquarters of Cash Corporation, a middle-aged man sat on a leather sofa with a dark expression.
Another man of similar age stood in front of him.
“Sir, the people we sent over failed again today,” the man said quietly. “Worse, they were all taken into police custody.”
“What?”
Timothy Cash’s expression immediately turned vicious.
“They failed again?”
He slammed his hand against the armrest.
“That’s eight times in one week!”
His voice grew colder.
“You know perfectly well that Bonnie Hunt has been taking more and more business away from us. If this continues, she’ll keep eating into our market share. I don’t care what you have to do. Find a way to deal with her.”
The man standing before him frowned.
“I received some information from the scene. Apparently, a young man suddenly appeared at her company today.”
He paused.
“If it hadn’t been for him, things probably would have gone according to plan.”
Timothy narrowed his eyes.
“Have you investigated him?”
“Not yet.”
“Then do it.”
Timothy’s expression became even darker.
“I want to know exactly who this man is.”
“Yes, sir. I’ll look into him immediately.”
...
That evening.
Inside one of the most exclusive private clubs in Riverside City.
The place was famous throughout the city.
The scenery was beautiful, the grounds were immaculate, and the atmosphere was quiet and luxurious.
What made the club especially distinctive was its architecture.
Instead of the usual modern luxury style, most of the buildings had been designed with a traditional, old-world aesthetic, giving the entire property a private and refined atmosphere.
It was exactly the sort of place where wealthy executives and powerful businessmen preferred to discuss important deals.

Chapter 007
Everyone in the room stared at the unfamiliar man in confusion. None of them knew who he was or why he had walked in and immediately taken the troublemakers’ side. The thugs, however, looked delighted.Their leader grinned at Andrew. “Now this guy makes sense. So, brother, who exactly are you?”“Who I am doesn’t matter.” Andrew shrugged. “What matters is that you’re here for money, right?”He had already figured out the situation.Bonnie Hunt’s company might be doing fairly well, but when it came to connections and handling people, she was clearly lacking. Otherwise, a bunch of street thugs would never have dared to come here again and again making trouble. If she had the right connections, one phone call would have brought people over to deal with this mess.Instead, after all this commotion, not a single person had stepped forward.Bonnie always carried herself with a cold, distant air. Judging from the current situation, she had probably offended quite a few people over the years.
Chapter 006
The moment the woman stepped inside, she noticed a strange man in the house. More importantly, there was something about him that immediately rubbed her the wrong way, and her expression turned guarded.“Who are you?”“He’s my brother-in-law’s old army buddy. His name is Andrew Allen,” Joan Hunt answered with a smile before Andrew even had the chance to speak.“Hmph.”The woman gave a cold snort and slowly sat down on the sofa. There was an aloof, elegant air about her, like a wealthy society wife who was used to looking down on others. Unfortunately, the bits of grass and weeds still clinging to her clothes completely ruined the effect.Andrew hated being looked at with that kind of disdain. But the moment he remembered how flustered she had looked earlier, he couldn’t help smiling to himself.“Why are you smiling?” Joan noticed it immediately. She had to admit that Andrew actually looked rather handsome when he smiled. “Did you think of something funny? Come on, share it with us.”A
Chapter 005
In Riverside City, an apartment like this would cost several million dollars before renovations were even considered. For a woman to possess this kind of wealth on her own was genuinely impressive.Andrew accepted the slippers Joan handed him and put them on, but he remained standing to one side instead of taking a seat.“Why aren’t you sitting down?” Joan asked after carefully placing the urn in a proper spot and sitting beside Bonnie.“My clothes are a little dirty. I’d rather not.”Andrew answered honestly. He had spent the entire day traveling and had not even had the chance to wash up. The last thing he wanted was to dirty someone else’s home.Bonnie slowly raised her head. Her beautiful eyes were swollen and red, and tears continued to stream down her face. The sight was enough to make anyone’s heart ache.“You were Craig’s comrade,” she said softly. “That makes you family too. It’s all right. Please sit.”“Well... all right.”Andrew could not bring himself to refuse after seein

The entire exchange happened in the blink of an eye.No one had time to react.“Y-You... you!”The female officer flushed with humiliation and rage.Andrew’s large hand was pressing directly against her chest. The unfamiliar sensation shot through her body, leaving her nearly breathless. The male officer shot to his feet, drew his service pistol, and aimed it at Andrew.“Put the gun down now! Don’t do anything stupid!”Andrew clicked his tongue.“If I actually wanted to hurt anyone, do you really think you’d have time to point a gun at my head?”He spoke almost under his breath as he slowly straightened. Then, in full view of everyone, he dismantled the pistol in his hand.
