With that said, the general turned and walked away leaving the men in awkward silence, waiting for the first person to be called. Some had already begun talking to each other in whispers, no one wanted to be used as a scapegoat.

As soon as the general left, a message popped up in front of James' face.

'Uhhh... Acquire the fire and ice abilities from my colleagues. How am I expected to do that?' James thought deeply as he stroked his chin.

"SUBJECT 1 DAMON GATE!" A loud voice boomed over the P.A.

While James was thinking, he didn't know that the first person had been called.

Damon was a black man who stood at 6'5 with bulging and intimidating biceps. He looked like the type of person who would crush anyone who stood in his path. As soon as he was called, he began to walk majestically to the stairs.

Everyone instinctively went out of his way except for one scrawny-looking young man who looked deeply immersed in his thoughts with his hand on his chin.

Damon grunted in annoyance to alert James of his presence but James didn't seem to get the signal because he still stood there. Damon decided to resort to violence as he grabbed James by the hair and slammed his head to the ground.

[Ding!]

[Skill Acquisition Technique Activated]

"Owww!" James yelled in pain as he felt his head impact with the marbled ground. He was in so much pain that he didn't pay any mind to the alert that had appeared on his system screen.

"Hurts right?" Damon whispered to James with a wide grin on his face and his hand on James' head, "Next time, run away when you see me, fool!"

With that last insult, he pushed James' head harder to the ground and stepped past him for his evaluation.

'What the hell was that?' James writhed on the ground as pain shot through every possible nerve in his body, 'Damn! This guy is strong! And I could barely resist the push, I'm so weak!'

He looked up to look at the back of the man who attacked him and he felt his brain go woozy with dizziness. But despite the dizziness, he realized that he could make out some slight texts floating above the man's head.

'What the hell is that?' he thought,

'Woah... Look at his stats, they're so amazing...' The sheer amazement of looking at Damon's stats made James temporarily forget the pain that assailed his head. 'then there's the name of his program, I'm sure this has assured me that my system is different.'

His train of thought was interrupted by a message that suddenly popped up in front of him.

[Ding!]

[Skill Acquisition Complete!]

[Due to the user's premium system, all restrictions on the skill are lifted and user has complete access to all sub-skills.]

'Skill acquisition complete?' James asked himself as he stood up slowly and dusted his clothes, 'Was I acquiring anyone's skill?'

'Frost?... Wait, isn't this the skill that the system told me to get? But wait, it's level max already?!' James' eyes bulged out in surprise as if they would pop out of their eyeballs. 'What exactly is going on here?'

As he calmed himself down to think about what just happened, he realized that when Damon touched him, he must've involuntarily activated the Skill Acquisition technique thereby allowing him to acquire Damon's technique. After acquiring Damon's technique, his premium system lifted all restrictions on the skill enabling him to use it at it's maximum level which is much higher than that of Damon's.

'So what's this frost skill really about?' James asked as he opened the frost skill on his system,

James could only stare open-mouthed at the stats that appeared before him. It was unbelievable! If these texts that were written on his screen were real then that would mean that he was insanely powerful already!

He quickly skimmed through the details of the frost skill. They were all skills that could be performed with his current mana pool and though some of it consumed an unreasonably large amount of mana, he didn't mind. He loved feeling powerful.

'Now that I've gotten one of the quest's requirements, let me check the quest progress.' James thought and willed the quest screen to appear before him.

'50% completion rate, I guess what's left is the flame skill, I wonder who has that.' James thought, but he didn't have any chance to dwell on the idea of finding the flame user because his name was called shortly after.

"SUBJECT 40 JAMES JADE!"

"They've reached 40 already?" James realized that he had spent so much time studying the skills but that didn't matter, he was too elated to be bothered.

He walked up the stairs to the room where they were conducting the evaluation. He could feel the stares of the men below as they watched him, Damon had already made a fool of him so they would think that he was a weakling, that was bad because he would surely become a regular target for the bullies amongst them.

'Well... I don't have to bother about that for now, I'll deal with that when I get there.' he thought as he stopped in front of the metal door that had the words, "Evaluation Room" written on it.

"Let's get this evaluation over with..." He said and stepped in.

He smells like trouble. You should send him away tonight."Rodney was slightly annoyed by this statement so he grabbed Octavius by his sleeve and pulled him closer, "I don't care whether you like him or not, he saved our lives during hunting and that's all that matters. If the best we can do for him at this moment is to offer him temporary accommodation then we'll do that. If you're not comfortable with that then you can go and hide your head under a rock."Octavius shrugged Rodney's hand off his sleeve

The bear growled at James and continued circling him. It seemed it was hesitating to attack him because he was stronger than the rest, it was looking for a suitable opening to launch its attack."I see..." James nodded slowly. "You can't reply to me... Well, no matter what your reply is, I won't accept it, that's because nothing can justify what you did here."With that last statement, James jumped toward the bear and the bear used that opportunity to jump towards him too.James was naturally faster than the bear, so it had already lost before the fight even began. James sailed through the air like a rocket and punched the bear under its jaw.The punch was so hard that the sound of cracking bone filled the air and no one needed to be told that James had cracked the skull of a monster bear with just his fists. The impact of James' punch did not end at the skull, it also delivered intense trauma to the bear's brain as the force from the punch threw it into the sky.The hunters couldn't
