“Keep your back straight, Eiran".

“Arms stretch forward and maintain your stance”, a loud voice commanded as a cane struck the back of Rhok.

He ignored the pain, rather, he pretended to endure the pain.

Five years had passed since the day he made his promise to Aunt Fey. Five years he had waited and trained himself, becoming stronger with every passing season.

Though he was still very far off from where he wanted to be, he was strong enough now. He fixed his muscles and made another vertical swing with his training sword.

After his Father, Lord Vale, had found out that he had created his own mana core, he ordered that Rhok be sent to be trained to become a knight of some sort.

Something about raising the prestige of the Vale family. Rhok couldn't care less. The man who commanded the training was well known amongst the soldiers of the Vale Household. He was a knight, more importantly, an Aura user.

Rhok could not understand why he had decided to remain faithful to the Vale family whil

Sitting in front of a fireplace, wearing a long shawl with a hood to hide his face. Rhok held a long stick in hand. He watched the flames dance around freely as they eagerly ate up the wood. Burning everything to cinders. It was almost time.He placed his hands in front of him, embracing the warmth of the fire. Steel daggers hung from his waist, a short sword by his side and throwing knives placed hidden in several pockets. He closed his eyes and spread his shadow sense. More than a dozen, about sixteen people. He felt their shadows as they drew closer to him. Closer to their death. He smiled out of habit, then frowned.A feeling of disgust washed over him. Rhok had no problem being a killer or a hired assassin. But being forced to do it? That was something else entirely, that was how he had lived his past life and how it had ended. He sighed.'Hopefully, I won't mess it up in this life. ' He stood up from the fireplace and walked towards the vault. He knew what lay beyond.Things tha

  • Chapter 13.Dumb Reasons for Treason.

“Ooh Heavens…" the woman in bed yelped as Rhok abruptly entered the room. To his surprise, Lord Vale didn't stop.He just kept on pounding the poor girl while she tried to get his attention to Rhok. He ignored her and kept on at what he was doing.A sore sight for Rhok.He wished he had knocked instead; things didn't become better as the bed folds fell off, and Lord Vale's bare bum was revealed.Hairy and chubby.Rhok took interest in what he saw, not because he was stimulated. But because he wondered why the Lord's ass jiggled so much.[OOHH MY!]'Shut up, Abyss Engine'[WOULDN'T YOU LIKE TO JOIN IN?][IT'S USUALLY DONE AMONGST THE REALMS.]'What the fuck? Who has orgies? In what realms?'He spat in disgust just as the Lord emptied his load into the young lady. He collapsed, looking quite exhausted.Rhok cleared his throat.“You called?” Lord Vale looked at him with a bit of confusion and interest, then his face lit with recognition.“Aahh, you're my bastard”, he said with a smile.

  • Chapter 11. Mana Forest.

The walk back was lonesome and dark, night creatures moved as it was in their nature to hunt at night. The sounds of predators stalking prey filled the air, the screams of dying animals, the howls of wolves as they claimed their victories. Rhok could hear all of this. But he could not be seen.Steadily, he lurked in the shadows, he walked amongst the monsters, moving with stealth, adept in his way of survival. He couldn't dare let himself be found, a free ticket to the afterlife if he did.It was a mana forest, although this forest that surrounded the Vale Household seemed less dangerous than the others, but it was still dangerous enough. There were classes of beasts that he was unable to handle, and after his ordeal at the cave, he didn't trust himself enough to take on another daring experience.Time moved quickly, but Rhok was faster. Before he could be noticed by any of the mana beasts, he escaped the forest and arrived at his makeshift hut. He saw a torch being swung around at hi

  • Chapter 10. Domain.

As he watched carefully as the Ogre's and Goblins all escorted the humans out from the cave, they really couldn't believe that the monsters that had once eaten them were the ones letting them go.Rhok, of course, didn't let them see him, but he watched them. The day was growing dimmer, but that never posed as a problem to Rhok The night was his domain. The only concern was his Aunt Fey.He sighed and looked away from the now free prisoners. He hoped they were too shaken to remember the exact location of where they had been held.He still needed to do some more investigations. He walked back to the false wall he had seen earlier, it seemed hollow, as though it was recently built by the monsters he had subjugated. He rapped his knuckles against the wall, indeed it was hollow. He didn't feel the need to use his mana to break it down, rather he called another ogre who stood idly yonder to his left.“You, come here…” Rhok said. The ogre scratched its head but obeyed and came over.“Smash

  • Chapter 9. Lucky Card.

Its death was instant. As the light faded from the eyes of the Ogre chief, it seemed as though something stirred within the minds of the other monsters at the cave.As though they felt his death, but were pleased by it.The goblins began moving in different directions, without form or an inclination as to wherever they were. They looked confused. And then it clicked to Rhok. It was mind control. He had killed the Chief, freeing them all from the hex he had put them under.[CONGRATULATIONS][YOU HAVE SLAIN THE OGRE CHIEF]'Huh?'[NEW ATTRIBUTE ACQUIRED][ASSIMILATION]'Wait wait, what's going on?'[ASSIMILATION ALLOWS YOU TO PICK A RANDOM SKILL OF THOSE YOU HAVE SLAIN.][WOULD YOU LIKE TO TRY IT?]Rhok looked at the system while he hid in the shadows, he was out of mana, weak, drenched in his sweat and had no way of escaping.'Yes, damn it.' He cursed.[ACQUIRING SKILL…][MIND CONTROL. ACQUIRED.][SKILL ALLOWS YOU TO CONTROL THE MINDS OF ANYONE YOU'RE STRONGER THAN. RESISTANCE IS FUTIL

  • Chapter 8. First Blood.

Before the naked goblins could sense him while they mated with their naked prisoners, Rhok flew into their midst in the blink of an eye.He swirled about slicing the head of one of the goblins and melted into the shadows, before the goblin fell, he appeared again stabbing his daggers into the skull of another. The goblins stood up in a panic, shouting among themselves, looking around them, searching for their killer, but it was useless.Rhok was enraged. He shot out of another's shadow, slicing off both its hands and stabbing its neck from behind.'Three down. Three to go.'He moved with a careful precision which he had learned back in his days as an assassin. The training he was dealt with, the survival programs, his instincts.Everything kicked in.The goblins stopped him and shouted in a tongue known only to them. One screamed at Rhok and had a dagger slammed into its mouth.'Two to go.'One tried grabbing him from behind to crush him.“Disgusting” Rhok mouthed as he melted into th

  • Chapter 7. Orge's Cave.

In the depths of the cave. Monsters, goblins, and Ogre's alike stumbled about confused. Something moved among them, reaping their lives as though it meant nothing. The thing that haunted them couldn't be seen. Heard. Or felt.It was an unknown, a force they had never had the chance to reckon or understand. Although these monsters had a lick of intelligence, it was barely enough for them to comprehend what was happening about them. And as such, they did what any feral beast would. They ran in confusion.Rhok smiled as he slid out of a small crevice in the wall. He materialized himself and let out a puff of breath. He could see his perspiration. It was damn cold in the cave. Or maybe it was just this section, but he couldn't be too sure. He was running out of time.Rhok spread his senses outward as he had done above the chasm. He needed to know the layout of the cave if he were to kill each and every one of them.He couldn't risk getting Diarrhea. Somehow that scared him more than Mana

  • Chapter 6. Busted.

He couldn't be stopped by anything, he felt free at the moment. He could feel the wind brushing against his face, whistling past him as he ran at incredible speeds, nearly impossible for someone of his age.Because he had a mana core.Formed very early by the help of the system. To be honest, it had been a glitch. The stupid system was supposed to allow his premature body to grow to a certain limit before pumping him with power.Worst of all, the system hadn't told him how to manage his mana or control it. He had to learn that all on his own. He pushed those thoughts aside.[TARGETS IN CLOSE PROXIMITY.][DON'T GET LOST.]'Bastard.' Rhok cursed. He really wished his could rid himself of the system.Rhok avoided lighted places more because they opposed his attribute but not in the sense that you might think. If anything bright places gave him more of an edge. The brighter the light, the deeper the strength of his shadows, but there were obvious limitations. He didn't want to be spotted
