"You damn bastard!" Zed's voice echoed as he swung out his fist towards Mr. Damien. The fist traveled through the air at blinding speed, and before Mr. Damien could react, the fist connected neatly with his face and pushed him several steps backwards.
The guards swiftly grabbed Zed's two arms, preventing him from sending out more attacks. Zed tried to break free but the guard's strength was overwhelming. "You are finally showing your true colors, Zed. I was wondering when you'd stop pretending." Mr. Damien commented as he wiped the blood off his lips before shifting his gaze towards the bunch of reporters watching by the entrance. "I'm sure by now you all already understand why I must fire him. I can't keep working with a lunatic. I mean, you suddenly attack someone for no reason at all?" Mr. Damien spoke audibly, and his gaze fixed on the reporters who were busy recording everything and jotting down some information. "You liar! You stole from me and now you are making me look like the bad guy?!" Zed voiced out, trying to set his arms free from the guards grip. "I didn't steal anything from you. The automatic car is a project of the Eclipse industries, and now that you have been fired you have no business with the car or anything about this company!" Mr. Damien spat without holding back. "I built that car. Do you have any idea how hard it took me to build it? How many sleepless nights? The sweat, the tears, the pain! Everything! And you are just going to steal it from me?!" Zed voiced out, pain evident in his voice. He finally gave up on trying to set his arms free and just stood there motionless. "You were only doing what we paid you to do. Stop acting like it was your personal project. I provided every single thing just to make sure it was a success, so quit ranting and just get out of here!" Mr. Damien retorted. Immediately after he said those words, the sounds of footsteps were heard from behind and a feminine voice rang out. "Stop embarrassing yourself and just leave this place already, Zed." The woman said in an audible tone as she approached them. Zed didn't need to set the woman's face because he recognized the voice instantly and knew who it was. It was his girlfriend, Mia. And she was also the daughter of Mr. Damien. Standing beside Mia was a striking young man with blonde hair, clad in a black suit, and a shiny golden rolex could be seen on his left wrist. Zed also recognized the man's face after catching sight of him. His name was Nick Campbell, the son of the most popular scientist in the whole of England. As Zed glanced at them, his eyes widened slightly in disbelief as he noticed both of them were holding hands, and they both had rings on their fingers. "Mia.. What's the meaning of this? Why are you with him?" Zed asked, his tone a mixture of anger and betrayal as he glanced at Mia. "What does it look like, Zed? I am engaged, and Nick is my fiancé." Mia responded as she glared at him in disdain. Zed was taken aback after hearing the words of Mia, and a look of disbelief on his face. "What are you talking about?" Zed muttered. "Are you so dumb that you can't understand my words? Nick is my fiancé. We have been dating for months now and we decided to advance to the next level." Mia spat without holding back. "I only agreed to date you because my father asked me to. He needed someone to keep a close eye on you and make sure you don't steal any of his tools and equipment while working. And also to make sure you are not helping other companies. But now that you are done with the creation of the car I see no reason to keep being with you." Mia spoke further. Zed stood there in disbelief. He has been dating Mia for close to a year now. He chose not to propose to her sooner because he wasn't financially stable. However, now that he was making progress in the company he planned to propose to her today after his appointment. But now it seemed like Mia never took their relationship seriously. She was dating another man, and he was nothing more than a pawn in her game. He had no reason to try to argue or even say another word to them. "I see." Zed muttered, his gaze fixed on the floor and his shoulders slumped. "I see. I see what's going on here. You all used me to your satisfaction, and now that you are satisfied you have recorded to dump me. It's all good." He spoke through gritted teeth, and his voice filled with rage. "Get him out of here, guards, I've heard enough of this drama." Mr. Dominic ordered. "Don't bother. I know the way out." Zed stated as the guards let go of his arms. He turned around and began to walk towards the exit door. The reporters that were eager to interview him earlier were now glaring at him in disdain as he walked towards the exit door. "Zed! You are free to keep the house and the car! A token of appreciation for what you did for our company!" Mr. Damien spoke up, but Zed kept walking away. As he walked back to the car he could hear the crowd whispering and laughing, and some were even mocking him audibly. Zed pulled the door of the car open and stepped into the driver's seat. The personal driver that was given to him by the company was nowhere to be found, so he had to drive himself back home. Zed started the engine of the car and drove out of the compound and began to head back home. He sat there in the car, his right hand gripping the wheel, his gaze fixed on the road, and his head filled with thoughts. Just like that he lost everything. All he had been building for years was gone just like that, even his biggest project was stolen from him and the woman he thought he would spend the rest of his life with was only using him. Zed now had nothing. The only source of income was from the company, and now that he has been fired he has nowhere else to go. Zed also doubts if any company will be willing to employ him after Mr. Damien made him look like the bad guy in front of the reporters. "I've lost everything. I see no reason for me to keep living." Zed swallowed hard, and tears streamed down his face. When all hope was lost, Zed heard a robotic voice in his head, and what looked like a blue holographic screen materialized in front of him. Gunfire
Zed sat motionless, her words echoing in his mind like venomous fangs burrowing deep. He stared at her, his jaw tightening, his expression now an unreadable mask of quiet rage. The grin on her face made his blood boil. His eyes drifted away, subtly surveying the room. Two armed men stood flanking him on either side, each gripping an MP5 submachine gun. Their eyes were cold, their stances rigid—soldiers on alert. Two more guarded Miss Jessica, similarly armed and alert. In the corners of the room, five additional men loitered in strategic positions, hands near their weapons, watching Zed closely. He was completely surrounded. But not unarmed. His gaze returned to Miss Jessica, who was still basking in the illusion of control.“What do you even want with my company?” Zed asked, tone now measured. “After today, I doubt it’ll even function. I was planning to shut it down myself. What good is a dead company to you?”“What I plan to do with the company is none of your business, Zed,” she sn
This wasn't the agreement
The woman approached Zed and placed the documents on the table in front of him, neatly aligning them before setting the pen beside the stack."Those are the documents you need to sign, Zed. Since you're in a hurry, go ahead and sign them so we can get this over with," Miss Jessica bellowed, placing a cigarette between her lips. She took a long, leisurely drag before slowly exhaling a thick cloud of smoke that drifted lazily toward the ceiling.Zed cast a sharp glance in her direction, his eyes narrowing slightly as he watched her. Then, with a subtle shift in his posture, he turned his gaze to the documents laid before him. Leaning forward, he picked up the pen and began to examine the papers. His eyes moved methodically across the text, scanning line after line. From the content so far, he understood that once he signed, Miss Jessica would become the new owner of the mall. That was their agreement—he had no issue with that. But as he continued to read, a frown slowly formed on his fa
Meeting Miss Jessica
Zed halted his steps the very moment he stepped out of the car, his eyes narrowing sharply as they locked onto the duo approaching him. Both men stood at a towering six feet tall, with muscles that rivaled professional wrestlers—bulging, firm, and intimidating. Their expressions were stone-cold, carved with menace, and each of them held a firearm as naturally as if it were part of their body. They marched forward like soldiers bred for nothing but bloodshed. When they were just a few paces from Zed, they came to an abrupt halt, boots pressing into the gravel with calculated authority. One of the men glared at Zed for a tense moment before finally speaking."What brings you here?" he asked, his voice deep, gravelly, and laced with quiet threat.Zed cleared his throat, straightening his posture slightly."My name is Zed. I spoke to Miss Jessica not too long ago. She gave me this address and asked me to meet her here," he replied, tone composed but firm.Upon hearing this, the man shift
A thief
Lucas halted his steps as he pulled out his phone and glanced at the screen. A slight furrow formed between his brows when he saw the name flashing across it.It was his boss—Santiago.Lucas stared at the name for a few moments, his eyes narrowing as he tried to figure out the reason for the unexpected call. The street he stood on was dimly lit and eerily quiet, with only the occasional flicker of a faulty streetlamp above. He glanced around warily to ensure he was alone before answering.“Hello, Boss,” he said in a low, cautious tone once the call connected.“Lucas... it’s been a long while,” Santiago’s deep voice echoed through the speaker.“You know you’re not supposed to be calling me, right?” Lucas muttered, keeping his voice hushed as his eyes darted around the shadows. “What if someone was beside me? You’re going to get me caught.”“I’m just calling to ask if you’ve seen the news recently,” Santiago said, ignoring Lucas’s concern, his tone laced with urgency.“You mean the thin

"I need your help, Lucas," Zed began, his voice low but urgent. "There's a place I have to be tonight. I don’t trust the person who invited me. It’s dangerous to go alone... and I need you to come with me.""I see," Lucas muttered thoughtfully. "What place, if I may ask? And at this hour of the night?"Zed exhaled deeply, his breath shaky. "It’s a long story, so I’ll skip the unnecessary details and go straight to the point. A woman I apparently offended weeks ago by buying a mall she had her eyes on just kidnapped Kimberly. Turns out, this woman leads a gang—and she’s extremely dangerous. To release Kimberly, she’s demanding that I come over to her territory and sign over the mall to her for free. So yeah... I’m going over there to sign the documents in exchange for Kimberly’s release. She claims she won’t harm me once I sign and that she’ll let me walk away. But honestly... I don’t believe a word she says. That’s why I called you."Lucas fell silent for a few seconds before respondi
I don't trust you
“Oh, please, Zed. Spare me that.” Miss Jessica scoffed after hearing Zed’s words, her voice dripping with disdain. “What are you going to do? You’re just a common engineer, after all. You have no idea what goes on in the underworld—how things work. And yet you dare threaten me?”Zed stood still for a few moments, silent, the weight of her words hanging in the air like a noose tightening around his throat. He exhaled heavily, running a trembling hand through his damp hair before finally speaking in a low, tense voice.“What do you want?”“I want what you stole from me. The mall... I want it back,” she snapped without hesitation.“I’ll sell the mall to you. Just let her go,” Zed bellowed, his voice thick with desperation and fury.“Sell? What do you mean sell it to me?” Miss Jessica asked, her tone suddenly amused, laced with a chilling mischief that made Zed’s skin crawl.“What? Isn’t that what you want?” Zed replied, confusion clouding his expression as his brows furrowed.“I said I w
