Golden finger

"You damn bastard!" Zed's voice echoed as he swung out his fist towards Mr. Damien. The fist traveled through the air at blinding speed, and before Mr. Damien could react, the fist connected neatly with his face and pushed him several steps backwards.

The guards swiftly grabbed Zed's two arms, preventing him from sending out more attacks. Zed tried to break free but the guard's strength was overwhelming.

"You are finally showing your true colors, Zed. I was wondering when you'd stop pretending." Mr. Damien commented as he wiped the blood off his lips before shifting his gaze towards the bunch of reporters watching by the entrance.

"I'm sure by now you all already understand why I must fire him. I can't keep working with a lunatic. I mean, you suddenly attack someone for no reason at all?" Mr. Damien spoke audibly, and his gaze fixed on the reporters who were busy recording everything and jotting down some information.

"You liar! You stole from me and now you are making me look like the bad guy?!" Zed voiced out, trying to set his arms free from the guards grip.

"I didn't steal anything from you. The automatic car is a project of the Eclipse industries, and now that you have been fired you have no business with the car or anything about this company!" Mr. Damien spat without holding back.

"I built that car. Do you have any idea how hard it took me to build it? How many sleepless nights? The sweat, the tears, the pain! Everything! And you are just going to steal it from me?!" Zed voiced out, pain evident in his voice. He finally gave up on trying to set his arms free and just stood there motionless.

"You were only doing what we paid you to do. Stop acting like it was your personal project. I provided every single thing just to make sure it was a success, so quit ranting and just get out of here!" Mr. Damien retorted.

Immediately after he said those words, the sounds of footsteps were heard from behind and a feminine voice rang out.

"Stop embarrassing yourself and just leave this place already, Zed." The woman said in an audible tone as she approached them.

Zed didn't need to set the woman's face because he recognized the voice instantly and knew who it was.

It was his girlfriend, Mia. And she was also the daughter of Mr. Damien.

Standing beside Mia was a striking young man with blonde hair, clad in a black suit, and a shiny golden rolex could be seen on his left wrist.

Zed also recognized the man's face after catching sight of him. His name was Nick Campbell, the son of the most popular scientist in the whole of England.

As Zed glanced at them, his eyes widened slightly in disbelief as he noticed both of them were holding hands, and they both had rings on their fingers.

"Mia.. What's the meaning of this? Why are you with him?" Zed asked, his tone a mixture of anger and betrayal as he glanced at Mia.

"What does it look like, Zed? I am engaged, and Nick is my fiancé." Mia responded as she glared at him in disdain.

Zed was taken aback after hearing the words of Mia, and a look of disbelief on his face.

"What are you talking about?" Zed muttered.

"Are you so dumb that you can't understand my words? Nick is my fiancé. We have been dating for months now and we decided to advance to the next level." Mia spat without holding back.

"I only agreed to date you because my father asked me to. He needed someone to keep a close eye on you and make sure you don't steal any of his tools and equipment while working. And also to make sure you are not helping other companies. But now that you are done with the creation of the car I see no reason to keep being with you." Mia spoke further.

Zed stood there in disbelief.

He has been dating Mia for close to a year now. He chose not to propose to her sooner because he wasn't financially stable. However, now that he was making progress in the company he planned to propose to her today after his appointment.

But now it seemed like Mia never took their relationship seriously. She was dating another man, and he was nothing more than a pawn in her game.

He had no reason to try to argue or even say another word to them.

"I see." Zed muttered, his gaze fixed on the floor and his shoulders slumped. "I see. I see what's going on here. You all used me to your satisfaction, and now that you are satisfied you have recorded to dump me. It's all good." He spoke through gritted teeth, and his voice filled with rage.

"Get him out of here, guards, I've heard enough of this drama." Mr. Dominic ordered.

"Don't bother. I know the way out." Zed stated as the guards let go of his arms. He turned around and began to walk towards the exit door.

The reporters that were eager to interview him earlier were now glaring at him in disdain as he walked towards the exit door.

"Zed! You are free to keep the house and the car! A token of appreciation for what you did for our company!" Mr. Damien spoke up, but Zed kept walking away.

As he walked back to the car he could hear the crowd whispering and laughing, and some were even mocking him audibly.

Zed pulled the door of the car open and stepped into the driver's seat. The personal driver that was given to him by the company was nowhere to be found, so he had to drive himself back home.

Zed started the engine of the car and drove out of the compound and began to head back home.

He sat there in the car, his right hand gripping the wheel, his gaze fixed on the road, and his head filled with thoughts.

Just like that he lost everything.

All he had been building for years was gone just like that, even his biggest project was stolen from him and the woman he thought he would spend the rest of his life with was only using him.

Zed now had nothing. The only source of income was from the company, and now that he has been fired he has nowhere else to go. Zed also doubts if any company will be willing to employ him after Mr. Damien made him look like the bad guy in front of the reporters.

"I've lost everything. I see no reason for me to keep living." Zed swallowed hard, and tears streamed down his face.

When all hope was lost, Zed heard a robotic voice in his head, and what looked like a blue holographic screen materialized in front of him.

Salazar McCall leaned forward and puffed out smoke from his mouth before speaking, his voice low and deliberate. "So... what's the update? Why have you brought this man here?" he asked, smoke curling from his lips with every word he uttered, drifting upward like a serpent into the air."This man, Leo, was caught stealing from us, boss," one of the guards standing beside Salazar growled, his gaze fixed intensely on the young man kneeling before them. "He hid several packs of cocaine that we were supposed to deliver to Mr. Davidson. He stashed them away so he could sell them later and pocket the profits for himself," he added with scorn. The man on his knees swallowed hard, his Adam’s apple bobbing. Cold sweat trickled down his face in thin streams, and his hands trembled uncontrollably. He looked utterly defeated.Salazar’s expression darkened upon hearing the report. He didn’t blink, didn’t move. His cold, calculating eyes remained locked on the kneeling figure. After a long, tense pa

Zed sat comfortably in his chair, his left elbow resting against the desk in front of him while his right hand held his phone. Seated across from him were four of his most trusted employees: Steve, Amanda, Christopher, and Han.Christopher was one of Zed's top engineers—young, talented, and full of innovative thinking. Han, on the other hand, was a middle-aged man, seasoned and deeply respected within the company. He was one of the sharpest minds Zed had ever worked with. The way Han brainstormed and delivered fresh ideas was on another level entirely—almost as if inspiration itself flowed through him.But Han’s value to Zed extended far beyond his intelligence. He was connected—deeply connected. Friends in high places, across various top-tier engineering firms in the city, often made the impossible possible for him. Through those connections, Han had helped Zed acquire advanced engines and rare equipment from elite manufacturers. Engines that were considered off-limits, even to other

Zed stood there in the hallway, his gaze fixated on his personal office that was located a few paces away from where he was, and a slight look of puzzlement etched on his face.As he glanced at the door, he noticed it was slightly open, and that alone made him extremely confused."Why is it open?" he wondered, then slowly began to walk towards it. He advanced with caution, his gaze never leaving the door.Zed finally halted his steps in front of the door and glanced at it for a few moments before raising his right hand to push it open. The door creaked the second he pushed it, and his eyes widened slightly."I remember locking this door the last time I was in here... I always lock it whenever I leave." He mused silently. "So why is it unlocked?"Zed opened the door wider before stepping inside slowly, and as he did, he scanned the place thoroughly. This room was where he kept important documents. Documents like his house ownership papers, vehicle documents, essential receipts, contrac

The early morning sun rose steadily over the horizon, its golden rays piercing through the translucent curtains and flickering into the spacious room. Streams of sunlight danced across the furniture until they landed squarely in the eyes of Zed Zimmerman, rousing him from his slumber. He stirred gently, letting out a soft yawn as he sat upright, blinking against the light.Swinging his legs off the bed, he slowly stood, stretching his limbs with a grunt. He rolled his ankles and flexed his calves, noticing something immediately—the soreness in his legs was completely gone.“Finally,” Zed muttered under his breath, a faint smile crossing his face as he walked over to the window and paused. He stood still, gazing through the large window that overlooked the grounds below. The estate bathed in soft sunlight, birds flitting through the trees, and the dew still clinging to the grass created a quiet serenity. Yet, despite the peaceful scenery, Zed’s mind was far from calm. Thoughts clouded

Lucas stood motionless in the small, dimly lit office of Zed Zimmerman, his hands still clutching the worn leather journal, his eyes transfixed on the yellowing page before him. The warm glow from the antique desk lamp cast long shadows across the room, highlighting the dust particles swirling lazily in the air. Lucas’s brow furrowed as he read, his expression clouded with confusion.Nothing he was reading made sense. No matter how carefully he studied the journal, no matter how many times he reread the cryptic lines, comprehension remained stubbornly out of reach. The words taunted him—clear in form, yet cloaked in mystery.“What does he mean by ‘system’?” Lucas wondered silently, his eyes never leaving the page. “System? As in a computer system? But that makes no sense. I’ve never heard of a computer that gives its owner money… let alone that kind of money.”Zed hadn’t written much about the system in the journal. He hadn’t explained what it was or where it came from. All he did was

Lucas watched him leave, then slowly lowered his gaze and began to ponder.“Tonight might be the perfect time to take a look around this mansion. I might not get another chance to be in here,” he mused silently, scanning the entire living room with a thoughtful expression. “When everyone’s asleep, I’ll take a look around. Who knows what I’ll find.”The two men sat there in silence for a while longer before finally rising to their feet. Together, they picked up the plates from the dining table and carried them into the kitchen. They ensured all the plates and utensils used for dinner were now in the sink before turning their attention to the table itself. They cleaned the entire surface meticulously, and soon, it sparkled just as brightly as it had before they’d started eating.“So... where are the rooms located?” Lucas inquired, breaking the silence. “You've been in this mansion before, so you should know.”“Uhm... I think there are about three extra rooms located upstairs beside the
