Zora froze, snack forgotten in her hand as she stared at Kai like he’d just confessed to eating his toenails for breakfast.

“…What? Are you really serious about that shit? You can not be serious.”

Kai leaned against the wall, arms folded, completely at ease. His grin widened.

Zora blinked again, then slowly reached up and tapped the side of her head—twice. Then she pointed at him, tilted her head, and raised her brow in mock concern.

The silent message was clear... Are you okay up there? Should I call someone?

Kai burst into laughter, the sound echoing through the small room. “I mean it, Zora. Every word. I don’t care how it got there or why it ended up in that relic box. All I know is, it doesn’t belong to them. And as you said yourself—it’s useless to them. But it’s everything to us.”

Zora let out a deep sigh and dropped the snack onto the table. “You know… I’ve been a thief most of my life. I’ve stolen food, weapons, scrolls, even someone’s spirit beast once—long story—but there

Kai trudged forward with the kind of irritated patience only a man who’d been in too many fights and too many stupid situations could have. On his left, the winged baby beast hopped happily, occasionally bumping its head against his leg like an overgrown puppy. On his right… the problem. The woman. The same woman who had cried, begged, and thrown herself at his feet earlier… now walked behind him like a calm, determined shadow. She refused to leave and the beast, that traitor that it was, had decided he liked her, nudging her hand every two minutes like she was his new best friend.Kai had tried chasing her away. Twice or maybe more than that but the beast purr-growled at him at those times like its saying she stays or we fight, daddy. So here they were, Kai, the greedy beast, and one very stubborn lady who apparently had no sense of danger. He pulled out the map the Grand Elder gave him. The moment the parchment lit faintly, Kai exhaled in relief.“Finally,” he muttered. “I’m back on

  • 322: Return to the Unknown

The world snapped back into place so abruptly that half the cultivators stumbled forward, blinking wildly as they found themselves standing once again before the stone tablet. No glowing hall, no throne, no suffocating pressure pressing their souls flat, only the quiet, empty village entrance. For a heartbeat, no one spoke. Then a wave of trembling relief rippled through all six groups at once, the tension breaking like a dam. Some dropped to their knees, gasping. Some clutched their chests and others simply stared around in disbelief.“We’re alive...?”“Wait… he didn’t kill us?”“This doesn’t make sense. That kind of power... who spares ants?”Their whispers spiraled into bizarre, desperate logic as they tried to understand how a being that strong had chosen to do nothing to them. One disciple muttered shakily, “Maybe he has a good heart.”Someone beside him snorted. “No. We’re too insignificant. He probably didn’t even see us.”“That’s worse!”Another piped up confidently, “He spare

  • 321: The Figure.

The moment those words about the illusion sank in, tension spread through the entire crowd, no one knew who had created the illusion, no one knew when they walked into it, and worst of all, no one knew how deep inside it they already were. Every group shifted uneasily, hands tightening around their weapons, eyes darting around as if the very air might suddenly strike them dead. The silence wrapped around them heavily, everyone quietly calculating the same thing, that a single wrong step could finish them all. Some swallowed hard, some attempted to look brave, and some simply stood frozen, trying to understand how they were supposed to fight an unseen enemy when they didn’t even know where the real world ended and the illusion began. They didn’t get the chance to think further.Without warning, without sound, without even a flicker of transition, the world around them twisted. Colors smeared, shadows warped, the ground folded inward, and before anyone could gasp, they were standing ins

  • 320: The Illusion They Walked Into

The moment the bright light faded, the massive stone tablet vanished as though it had never existed at all. No fragments or any dust. No lingering glow. It simply blinked out of existence, and in its place stretched a long, perfectly straight path leading deeper into the silent village.Everyone froze and a few gasped but most stared in disbelief. The path was uncanny, smooth and seemed untouched by dust or time. Even the surrounding air felt different, as if purified.Of course, instead of appreciating the miracle they were witnessing, some people decided to be… themselves.“Tch, she’s acting like she solved some heavenly mystery…”“Is she expecting us to clap? It was just a guess.”“Whatever. Pure heart my foot.”Abigail walked calmly beside Jian, not giving a single crumb of attention to the ungrateful muttering behind her. She had long learned that trying to correct stupidity only made it louder, so she simply tucked a stray hair behind her ear and kept walking. The large group mo

  • 319:The Riddle of the Looping Stone

The six groups marched into the heart of the silent village, their boots thudding on cracked stone, alert for ambush but met by only empty echoes and wind. The ruins looked old, ghostly walls, shattered gates, weeds tangled everywhere. But before anyone could get too deep, they all stopped as one, eyes widening at the same thing.Right at the entrance, carved in stone taller than a wagon, were giant words, “To be Worthy of the Inheritance, you…”And that was it, nothing more. The words trailed off, the rest swallowed by time, leaving only a jagged crack where the sentence should have continued. The whole crowd froze. Someone at the back coughed, the silence stretching. Then, as if on cue, everyone ignored the mysterious stone and started forward, maybe there was a clue deeper inside, maybe the old thing was just for show. But up ahead, the path split into three, each fork leading into dense fog. The six groups spread out, each picking a different road, the air buzzing with anxious sho

  • 318: Meeting

The town stretched out before them, empty streets and faded city. Abigail’s group and the others came to a halt at the edge of the square, boots crunching on gravel as they scanned the horizon. But the emptiness didn’t last long. All around the ruined plaza, figures began to emerge, other sects, other alliances, faces both new and all-too-familiar, each one sizing up the competition like hungry wolves.Five groups had beaten them here or arrived at almost the same time. In a blink, the dusty square was teeming with cultivators, close to a hundred bodies in all. The air turned thick with tension, as if one wrong step would ignite the whole place. No one said a word at first, everyone was just watching, calculating, measuring who had the numbers, who had the power, who’d make the first move.Suddenly, Selene’s face lit up and she waved, her silver hair catching the sunlight. “Over here!” she called. Rina and Luna followed, grinning as a knot of girls in the distance recognized them. Ten
