“Leon! Leon! Where has that stupid boy gone off to?!” Victoria Xavier's angry voice rings through the house.

Leon is sitting against the side of the bathtub, he sighs and runs his fingers through his hair.

He is just catching his breath after cleaning the bathroom, but his cold-hearted mother-in-law has found him.

“Leon?! How dare you ignore me when I called?!”

He stands up to walk to the door, but she opens it before he can, and she smacks the door in his face.

Her furious eyes almost burn a hole through his skull.

“Oh, there you are, you sick son of a bitch! You have hidden in the bathroom and allowed me to yell around like a fool?!”

Leon smiles sadly. “Oh no, mother, I won't do something like that to you, I was just washing the toilet–”

“Washing?!” She runs her hand over the side of the bathroom, and her finger comes back clean.

He indeed cleaned it as vigorously as he could, but this is not good enough for the old witch!

“Look!!” She shoves her index finger in his face. “Is this clean enough?”

“But, mother, I cleaned it for an hour–”

“The Xavier family allowed you, a nonentity, to marry our precious daughter, and this is how you repay us?!”

Leon sighs. Is there any day that she doesn't bring up this humiliating fact?

“You think the toilet is clean enough?!” She smirks as she empties the small container that holds the toothbrushes, and she uses it as a cup to take some water directly from the toilet bowl!

“Take this, this will be your nutritious drink for your lunch! I'm sure it will be clean enough since you seem to be convinced that you cleaned it so well.”

Leon’s jaw is on the ground, he cannot believe this.

The Xavier family has been horrible to him, but this is a new low, even for his mother-in-law.

“Take it from my hand, or I deal with you mercilessly!” She berates.

He takes it from her, and even bows in appreciation. He feels his eyes stings with tears, but he has to be a man and remain strong.

Victoria gives Leon a nasty look from his head to his toes, and then she glances at her wrist watch with a heavy sigh.

“It's time to give Selina her drugs now, make yourself useful.”

“Yes, mother.” He nods.

“You haven't cut her nails in weeks, do you even know why you have been allowed to marry my precious daughter?”

Leon bows very deeply again. “I will trim her nails, ma'am.”

“Good.” She huffs. “The nutritious toilet water will be your lunch and dinner. That's what you get for being a lazy and ungrateful son-in-law!”

He stands by the door of the bathroom and watches her strut to the exit.

Once she leaves, he heaves and turns the dirty water away, then washes his hands. Once he is done, he returns to the door and his eyes fall on Selina, his beautiful but comatosed wife….

Leon Smith met the Xavier family years ago because his adoptive parents worked for them. Years before they adopted the poor orphan, Leon.

His father was a driver, and his mother was their chef. After almost five years of trying to get pregnant, they found Leon and adopted him to be their only child and beloved son.

He grew up very poor, and barely had enough to go by the day, but he was a very happy child from a happy family. He's very grateful for the life his adoptive parents gave him.

All that changed when his adoptive father died seven years ago. It broke his adoptive mother beyond repair, and the Xavier family never gave her more than a week off to bury him.

She had to return to work immediately, or she would lose her job. His grieving mother never healed but she went back to work.

Three years ago, she suffered a terrible stroke that almost took her life, but fortunately, she survived it.

She might still be alive, but permanently disabled, and can't work anymore. Leon had no choice than to drop out of school, take care of his mother, and beg the Xavier family, on his knees, to give him a job, so that he can pay for his mother's hospital bills….

Surprisingly, the coldest family in the entire world agreed to give him a job.

They led him into a secret room in the back of the house, where he was shocked to see their beautiful daughter, Selina Xavier, lying as still as a dead body, on the bed.

“Our family has kept a secret for a month now. Selina got into a bad accident, and she has fallen into a terrible coma. You must marry her and become her caregiver…that's the only way to save our family from disgrace.”

Leon didn't know the first thing about being a caregiver, but his mother needed medical care, else she would die, so he accepted one of the most humiliating jobs in the world….

Leon picks up the basket that holds all he needs to clean up his comatosed wife, and he walks over to the bed.

“Hello, my wife, your husband is here to clean you up.” He smiles to himself.

He gently pushes her hair away from her face, and he starts to clean her up.

Even though her family treats him badly, he makes sure that he treats her body with the most respect…

Even in her tragic state, Selina Xavier is still very beautiful. Every night, Leon goes on his knees and prays for a miracle – for God to restore beautiful Selina back to health.

Being her husband at first was strange to him, but he has grown to love and cherish her. He believes that when she finally wakes up, she will appreciate everything that he has done for her….

Once he has cleaned her up and administered her drugs to her, he sits next to her, getting ready to read her a book.

The door opens, and Victoria Xavier gets in again.

He quickly stands up and clasps his hands behind him.

She sees Selina all cleaned up, but she isn't grateful, she snorts.

“I hope you don't ogle over my daughter's beautiful body when you change her clothes.”

“Oh, no, mother.” Leon shakes his head.

It's true that he has been married to this girl for three years now, but he has never done anything sexual with her body.

She is beautiful and all, but he is not the kind of man to take advantage of a helpless girl…

Victoria still goes over and examines her daughter. She still doesn't trust the driver's son, even after three years…

“Well, Leon, I have to tell you that I just got off the phone with some really important person, and I must tell you that you have to remain in this room tomorrow because Damien Shankly is coming to visit.”

Leon feels a constriction in his throat. Damien is Selina's ex boyfriend. He was nowhere to be found as soon as Selina had the terrible accident. How dare him show his face after three years of abandoning Selina?!

When they get to Love hearts hospital's parking lot, Helen turns off the car. “I can't thank you enough, Miss Shankly.” Leon bows. “Thank you for saving my life today. I owe you.” Helen's hands tighten around the wheel. “You don't have to thank me for anything, Leon. This is what big sisters do. Just promise me one thing, okay?” Leon shifts on his seat. “Sure, Miss Shankly. I will do anything you want.” She rolls her eyes. “I want you to first of all, stop calling me ma'am, Miss Shankly, all of that! I might be someone important to everyone else, but I am just your big sister, okay?” Leon snickers. “Alright. What's the second?” She turns to make sure that she is looking him in the eyes. “I want you to promise that you will call me if you need anything. Okay?” Anything? Leon feels a tight pain behind his throat. He needs some money to handle his mother's hospital bill immediately, but he can't bring himself to ask his sister. His adoptive parents didn't bring him up to take

Leon has never felt this beaten down by life. Not when his adoptive father died, not when Selina practically spat in his face. A few drops of tears roll down his cheeks as he realizes that his mother is about to slip out of his hands. He has lost his biological mother, he won't lose his adoptive mother too. Not even the devil will be able to take her away from him. He wipes his eyes with the back of his left hand and lifts the phone back to his ear. “Listen to me, mum. You are not going to die. I am going to get the money right now, and you will get the treatment.” He assures her. His mother chuckles painfully at the other side. “My poor boy, don't you understand? Mrs Xavier cancelled it a few weeks before, and has been giving us fake cheques. That means that I have exhausted any chance to get treatments on loan. I have to pay that off, before they even consider giving me a bed.” “I will get the money!” Loen quickly declares, surprising himself. “Hold on for me, I will be ther

Helen Shankly's car is the nicest that Leon has ever rode in his life. He is not used to the cool conditioning, so he runs his hands against each other. Helen faces wrinkles with amusement. “Do you want us to turn the air conditioning off?” Leon sniffs with embarrassment. “No, it's fine. I'm just reacting from the medicine.” She nods with understanding. “I understand that you are still recovering, and all, but I just want you to visit our family home. Do you know that mum gave birth to you right in our mansion? Dad hired the best doctors to make the birth safe for both of you.” She says. Leon forces a smile, even though it feels so awkward for him to be discussing the biological parents that he doesn't even remember their faces. Helen notices it, so she quickly changes the topic, maybe it's not the right time. She brings out her phone and finds a picture that they took, all three of the Shankly sisters. “Here, we are your sisters.” She shows him the picture. “This is me, Helen

Leon feels the crushing weight of all of this heavy on his chest. It's too much information all at once. He has been through so much tragedy in his life, that he can't believe that his fortune has suddenly changed. He doesn't believe that he is Shankly's lost heir. It takes a heavy toll on him, that he finds himself staggering back to the bed, and Helen rushes to help him. “Come on, Leon, please be careful,” she holds onto his arm. “Argh, Miss, please. I don't want to stain your expensive clothes with my blood.” He winces. “Please,” she snorts. “How does that matter when you are my brother?” She performs a few examinations, to know that he is not in any real danger, then she leaves the doctor to administer the rest of the drugs to him. Leon needs help immediately. Not only physically, but in many aspects of his life. Thinking about all the trauma he has experienced in his life, she finds herself at the very brink of tears. Helen is a doctor, she has a deep background in ps

She shifts in her chair, as she prepares her approach. “Mister, can I ask you a question. This mark on your hand, is it a real birthmark or a tattoo?” Leon looks at the star birthmark on his right hand. He used to be fascinated by it, but he never gave it too much of a thought. He smirks as he runs the fingers of his other hand over it. “It's a birthmark. I can't afford a tattoo.” Helen's heart skips a couple of beats, but she maintains her calm with a smile. “I'm going to ask you a question, now. Do you remember your life when you were a toddler?” He shakes his head. “I'm adopted. My parents found me, and took care of a poor orphan like me."“An orphan?” She pulls her eyebrows up. “Yes, ma'am.” Helen breathes in deeply. “Do you know even the slightest details from your life before adoption?” Leon stops to think for a while. “Well, I think I have three sisters, but I am not sure.” Helen's lips quiver with anxiety. “And what's your name, please? Please tell me the truth.”“

Helen Shankly is pacing around the room. Leon has been treated and stabilized. Tests have been run, and she is waiting for the results. She takes out a picture of the twins, and holds it next to Leon's face. They look like siblings, sharing a number of features, even though he is oddly lean for a man his age. She swipes to a picture of her, and all she gets is assurance that this is her brother. The last confirmation for her is getting a picture of her father and when she places it next to his face, her heart stops for a second. This man is her father's twin. She holds her hand over her mouth as she steps away. Her eyes swell with tears, she can't believe this! She takes a picture of the star birthmark on his arm, before she leaves the room. She immediately puts a call through to both of her sisters at the same time. They live abroad , and can't come down, but thankfully, they are all so close that they pick the call immediately. “Hello, big sister.” Doreen yawns. “What's up,

Damien laughs as he kisses her forehead. She is so tough, and he loves her for it. “Don't worry, we will punish Leon Smith soon. We can even throw him into jail, but right now, we have some catching up to do.” She catches the cue. She tosses her phone away, and they both crash against the bed. They are making out heavily, but suddenly, Selina seems to be losing interest. Damien notices this, so he stops for a second. “What's the problem now, my love?” “I can't go back to being unconscious.” She sighs. “I need that drug everyday. How can I get it every day when it's not even out in the market? It's not for sale!” Damien laughs. “Come on, Selina. I'm the heir of the Shankly empire, my sisters won't say no to me. I can get a million of those from my sister, Helen, you don't have to worry.” Her worried face breaks into a smile. She snakes her hands around him. “That's why I love you so much. I've missed you!” ****Leon can barely see, because Damien hit him severally in his eyes.

    4. This has got to be the most humiliating day of his life. He watches all the servants stare at him with pity. He is still shaking, because he has not eaten anything for more than a few days, and he just got the beating of his life. He is holding his hand over his stomach, as he looks at his precious pendant in Damien's hand. Why isn't he giving it back? Selina smirks by the side. “This is your apology? I don't think that it came from your heart. You will kneel right where you are for the next five hours, and that's the only way you will be forgiven.”Leon heaves as he looks from one person to the other. Finally, he looks up to the grey sky. “But it's about to rain any moment from now. I am going to get sick from the cold.” Selina looks at him from his head to his toes. “And what has that got to do with me? Get down on your knees, or you will regret disobeying me.” With that, she gives Damien another kiss and seductively walks away. “I'm just going to take a shower, babe. You

“Don't worry, I have already signed the divorce papers.” Leon says to him. “Good!” Damien chuckles. “And I don't want you to ever come back here to beg for my wife's love!” This last statement angers Leon because how can this man call Selina his wife when it was Leon that nursed and took care of her for three years?!“Your wife?!” Leon throws his bag down. “Are you dead ass right now?! I was the one who nursed her back to this state for three years, while you ran away like a fucking coward!” Damien smirks and pushes his hair away from his face. “Well, it's not your sister that made the miracle drug that has given her back her consciousness for the first time in three years.” He tells him. “Don't ever compare me to your useless self, you stupid boy.” “Fuck you.” Leon yells at him. “You are never going to be a real man! You will never be Selina's true husband!” Leon is so upset that he couldn't stop himself. Running his mouth makes Damien boil with rage, and this makes him give Le
