Mylos handed her the sweets, watching her receive the sweets with such gratitude surprised him. He had tried them in the past as a child, but they tasted like coal and wasn't very good for his body after consumption.
"Do you really like them that much?" Mylos blinked as he watched Karen chew on the sweets with a smile on her face. He'd never seen anyone eat sweets so happily before, and was quite curious on how it tasted. "Of course! Although, neither mother or father support me eating sweets. It's not good for my teeth, but I can't stop eating it even though I know that." Karen stuffed her mouth full, her cheeks blowing up as she chewed. "So you'd eat something detrimental to your health just because you like the taste?" Mylos raised a brow, there were times when he found it difficult to understand how humans behave, "Hmm, that's strange." Karen rolled her eyes. She'd chewed and swallowed up all the sweets Mylos had bought for her, so she opened her mouth to speak, "Indeed, you might think it is, but I don't find anything wrong with it." Mylos wasn't won over, but he nodded in ‘agreement’, a strange gleam in his eyes as his thoughts drifted. After a second of thought, he shook his head then looked down to see Karen tilting her head at him, "What?" "You're so strange, uncle. Not only do you not give off the scent of a human, you're always thinking about stuff I can't predict." Karen voiced out after a while of staring into Mylos' eyes, her pupils gleaming strangely. Mylos'pupils contracted down to needle points. After a split second of thought, he grew unnaturally calm, "Why haven't you told anyone yet? You've known I was not a human ever since we sat down on that bench." Karen blinked innocently, then replied, "Why should I tell anyone?" Mylos was stunned, but replied, "Because I'm a demon?" Karen blinked, the expression of visible confusion finally returning to her face as she stared into Mylos'eyes, "Uh, should I be scared? Maybe I should have screamed, but wouldn't that be something bad to do to a stranger?" "Huh? I knew something was wrong with this child. Are you some nurturing talent, or linked to some great hero by blood?" Mylos requested curiously, then after some time his mind went to her parents, "Of course." "Mother said not to attack strangers for no reason. It's a measure to avoid unnecessary trouble. I count shouting out loud that someone is a demon as an attack." Karen explained calmly, "Besides, you gave me sweets! You're a friend of mine now." "Who is your mother?" Mylos asked after ignoring that detail ever since he'd met Karen. He was also curious to know who her father was, and why she was so strange to be a regular human child. "Mother is a Seraphim, she is very fond of monsters like you. Although, they are some unreasonable ones unlike you who she detests very much." Karen explained, not a shred of manipulation could be traced in her words. "I see..." Hearing that the mother was a demon, Mylos calmed down slightly after hearing that, but suddenly, a realisations struck him and he added, "and your Father?" "Father is a Hero! He's very strong, mother praises that I inherited about 60% of his traits. I'm proud to— What is wrong, Mylos?" Karen rambled on, but after coming to a realisation she shut her mouth to see Mylos' face. Mylos' heart had skipped a beat when he heard Karen's first sentence, beads of sweet poured down his face as a realisation struck him. "Karen, is your father home? And is your mother by any chance, with him right now?" "Yes?" Karen replied. Yes? Yes?! This is terrible! Mylos' mind began operating at maximum capacity as he thought of ways he could escape his delicately set trap. He was trapped seconds after walking into this district, and hadn't noticed. Regular Hunters were branded as church dogs, they're humans who set out to hunt and kill demons in the name of the church and credits. They weren't any stronger in the face of a regular demon, but had annoying abilities that set them apart from normal men and women when it came to hunting down demons. Apart from Hunters who were dogs of the church, there was another set of demon hunting entities who deviated from the teachings of the church. They were said to act directly under the influence of a certain deity. While a regular Hunter would be just strong enough to handle at least 20 fully grown men at once, a Hero was able to practically triple that number even if they were armed with heavy weapons. Ignoring the fact that Heroes had what was considered as “True Soul”, abilities beyond the weaker copies used by church dogs — they were also more durable against demons and physical attacks than hunters. Why was he so shaken? Even if the daughter was not a threat to him, and the mother might not be any better, the father was more of a threat than an Eminence! The chances of him surviving a direct encounter was nill. The fact that he might just be working under a god who was against Mylos' existence, doesn't ease things for the demon to any length. He was only grateful that he was not attacked yet, as his backup was too far away. The scariest part of this was that Mylos couldn't sense the man at all! This meant that although he could evade Hunters effectively, his radar like senses would be very inefficient when it came down to sensing Heroes. "Do not be scared, you look as pale as a sheet of paper! Father of course, does not hunt demons without reason even if he wants to. The fact that he hasn't reached for me means that he's trying his best to ignore you." Ignore me? "As far as you don't harm me, he'll let you go without any trouble. If he was so strict with demons, he would not have married one and had a child would he?" Her eyes narrowed down to crescents as she spoke. Damn it! In this life, there was just things Mylos couldn't understand. Things that shouldn't make sense, as well as things that shouldn't just exist. They were a lot of them.

Attack Of The Demons
“You are still a demon! We would never…” one of them struggled within himself for a second, but his eyes burned with a fierce light and he shouted, “We would never serve a demon! Your kind must be wiped from the face of this—“ Mylos turned to the man, one of the living who suffocated under the debris movements ago and his gaze lifted to the chunk of rocks hovering over the man’s head, interrupting his speech, “Where is the God in whose name you would eradicate all demons, now?” The man stiffened up, his pupils dilating. “Tell me, young man who refused to serve a demon. I am heading out on a murdering spree now, and countless innocent people will die. How many do you think it would take before your God takes action against me?” Mylos questioned, keeping his hand stretched forth. “I-I don’t care! Serving a demon would never bring back the dead!” the man shouted at the top of his voice, his ink black eyes lit ablaze in a fierce flame, “To ease the hearts of the fallen humans, I, and
The Weakness Of Heaven
After killing the demon hunters — those rabid dogs — the church was left defenceless. His eyes flashed in a cold light as he walked down the streets, the humans around him thrown in an uproar. A smile broke on his lips watching them run helter-skelter. “Lisa, what do you consider the greatest threat to the church?” he asked, the massive cathedral appearing before his vision, growing larger the nearer he approached. His right hand held a sword and the left was dug into his pocket, “Is it the believers or their prosecutors?” “Their believers hold the basic foundation of a church. The prosecution is merely a tool to rip it apart, the system that holds the church together. I — when working on my toys — had always sat to think of how the church could come collapsing upon itself…” Lisa followed Mylos walking in a calm gait with her tails withdrawn into her body. Her eyes, like a collection of colourful stars, shone as she watched the place descend into chaos. They reached the building
The Upheaval
“What do you mean the buildings in Lower A Area had collapsed?” a man’s voice boomed in the small room. The shouting male, who towered over eight feet, holding a sword as massive as his size, glared at the woman who stood before him with her hands crossed across her chest. “We just received the information from one of our trusted eyes. The church could be in danger. I have a sent a warning to all the heroes and hunters on standby, and we are prepared to face what is rampaging around in the city…” The man listened to her speak. Her voice was like a melody to his ears, and whenever she spoke he would calm down from a second, as if he dipped into a warm spring. Soon, the anger would blare up again, and he would glare at her with bulging eyes, “Helen, that is not enough!” She shook her head, her long grey hair fluttering, “It is not like we have a choice. Our heroes are already stretched too thin. I was thinking we withdraw some heroes from the church to reinforce the others, but we h
Fire Of God
Mylos in First POV——— I was — could still be — pathetically weak. Born without any demonic arts, haunted by a dark past, only affinity is with my sword — one I am not even the best in. Hunted by humans and demons alike, I was quite pathetic. Immortality had presented me a chance, and it had given me hope — hope to grow, where I couldn’t. To go against the natural order, is death. Sadly for this universe, I cannot die. My existence is the bane of the order, constantly at odds with the rules of universe, evolving with every passing second, and tapping into that chaos — one that exists at the bottom of my soul, I discovered it. I have no needs for demon arts anymore. My existence transcends all. I practised the blade, and with time, I honed the one thing I am trained in. I practised the chaos, and what I honed was not that trained for countless years, but a gift of madness, one threatening to eat everything whole. So, I drew from the well, careful not to fall in unguarded. A taste.
Awakened Heroes
Robert rose from his fainted position, moving at a fast speed as he brandished his daggers, the expression on his face cold as he locked in, leaped towards Mylos. The demon targeted, turned to a confident fool, glaring at him out of the corner of his eyes, “All fools should die foolish deaths.” Mylos said. There was a flash of light, and Robert’s body froze, but his head moved on, rolling past Mylos’s face until it smashed into the torn up wall behind him. Tails, pulsating in a strange white light, fired from the darkness, forming into a claw. “I have held these people hostage.” Mylos turned to Ryan, snapping a finger. As Lisa walked out through the hole in the wall, the building behind her came crumbling down to dust. She stood with a calm expression on her face, her eyes as cold as ice. “Hold them hostage? Who do you think you are?” he shouted, “By the grace of the Lord himself, I Ryan of the Church of Light, will eliminate your pathetic existence be—” “I understand you may b
The Edge Of Battle
Aysla looked around herself. To her left was Judas, to her right was Robert and before her stood Ryan holding a blade and behind her was Alissa’s fallen body. The bitch was not dead but they could be trouble if something was revealed with so many watching. “Hey, demon.” Ryan jumped over her swung hammer, landing on the ground and darting forward to close the gap between them. He looked around for any escape paths to cut off but the woman was still, standing her ground with no signs of retreat, “Have you decided?” “That is not something that you can accomplish.” Aysla said, swinging her hammer around. There was a cruel gleam in his eyes as he dashed around to dodging her violent outburst. She followed his movements coolly, chasing him with her hammer, “Because, I do want to die here.” Bullets were fired and she leapt around to evade them, locked on Ryan. She made sure that the chance he looked for was not provided! She circled around with her back faced to Alissa, ensuring that Rya
