Chapter 10

“Sorry! I didn’t know you had a girlfriend!” the gypsy girl quickly apologized.

She broke free from Luca and ran to Genoven’s study, and Luca frowned at the red marks on her forearms and legs, like injection marks, but he quickly shook his head, thinking it was none of his business.

“So, who’s that girl? You seem interested in her,” Ava said, pulling him closer. “You know if you don’t focus on the main task, you’ll lose points and fail the mission, right?”

“Of course I do, and I’m not here to flirt with my father’s whore,” Luca glanced at the corner where Astrid had been standing and saw that it was empty. “Looks like she’s gone. Can your system or my superpowers see why she’s looking at me like a weirdo?”

“No, unfortunately not,” Ava shook her head. “Also, I want to warn you not to just play around and waste the limits of your superpowers. For this mission, you’ve wasted more than you should have, and you can only form one command until you move on to the next mission, Luca.”

“Damn…” Luca cursed. He just shrugged, knowing it was mostly his fault, but he chose not to dwell on it.

Exiting the Genoven mansion, Luca and Ava headed to the black Ferrari and got in.

Before Luca could actually leave, a valet stopped them, handing Luca a Hermès watch designed by Kane and a Dior suit. A command from his father was to wear them immediately, as no Kane heir would wear anything but designer clothes, and Luca also received a bank card loaded with $1,000,000.

Luca started the engine, feeling strange that his fate had changed overnight and he was back to being the wealthy Kane heir and after a moment of thought, he decided to ask something that had been gnawing at his mind.

“Can… a robotic system like you eat like a human?” Luca asked Ava.

The system girl just stared at him, and Luca decided to continue his questioning.

“Food. Can you eat human food? If you want, I know a pretty good diner on the road to Northwest. It’s pretty good, because I always ate there during my college years, and it’s okay if you don’t want to. There’s no need to force it,” Luca offered.

“Diner? Wow, that sounds delicious,” Ava replied.

“As far as I know, diner are only for dinner, but if you want to eat earlier, that’s fine. I never knew you didn’t like dinner late at night, humans always have strange habits,” she continued, and Luca pursed his lips, knowing full well that this system wasn’t very up to date on the latest establishments.

“Okay, then we’ll go to the diner,” Luca concluded. “Just so you know, we can eat at the diner not just for lunch and dinner, but whenever we want.” Luca smiled, deciding to joke, and Ava frowned, looking even more confused.

The robot was bound to have a glitch soon, Luca thought.

Entering the diner parking lot, Luca got out of the car first to order his food.

Ava took a moment to observe her surroundings as if memorizing, but all Luca could think about was the burger he was about to order.

“Hey, Bob. Can I have two takeout specials and…” “Dad?”

A child’s voice rang out from behind him, and Luca turned to see a small boy in a tattered tuxedo.

“Asher! What are you doing?!! Don’t talk to strangers! Didn’t Mommy tell you to be quiet?!” a woman in a tattered and dirty dress approached the boy. “Excuse me, sir. I tried to keep my son seated, but he—Luca?”

Luca averted his gaze. He had seen enough drama from his first wife and still felt the pain of knowing that the child he was raising wasn’t his.

Luca started to leave, but Lisa grabbed him by arm, and all eyes in the diner immediately turned to him.

“Luca? Is that you—You look better. How can you afford all this when you have nothing?” Lisa stammered, and when Ava entered the restaurant in a dress that suddenly matched Luca’s, Lisa’s demeanor immediately changed.

Her eyes were blank, especially when she saw the Kane symbol on Luca's Hermès watch, and Lisa transformed into a madwoman. A personality Luca had never seen before in all their time together.

“You… How dare you return to your fortune after my family's downfall, Luca Kane!!! You're still married to me!!” she shouted, cradling Asher in her arms. She lifted the little boy and showed him around the diner.

“I want custody now, and I expect it to be split evenly with your Kane fortune! I have the Kane heir here, and I demand justice as the lawful wife of a Kane!”
