Chapter: Chapter 51
Natasha, Roland, and William sat around a small wooden table, their faces illuminated by the flickering screen of William’s tablet. They watched closely the video of the trial run that Rayner and Thomford had sent them. Natasha folded her arms. “You said you didn't want lives to be lost to the bioweapon, right?” “Yes,” William replied. Natasha glared at him sharply. “I find it hard to believe you were really okay with letting those men die just to prove that Ryker was creating a bioweapon.” For a moment, there was silence in the room. William and Roland exchanged a look that made Natasha feel like there was something she didn't know. She raised a suspicious eyebrow. “What is it?” “Well, the men in the video didn't actually die,” Roland replied. Natasha's eyes widened, her voice rising. “What do you mean they didn't die? I could clearly see the bioweapon taking effect and killing them.” “The actual prisoners were released with the help of Rayner and Thomford. The men you saw i

Chapter: Chapter 50
The underground facility buzzed with tension. Soft lights lined the ceiling casting a glow on the polished concrete floors. There were armed guards who stood along the walls, still and focused. Seated were some of the world’s most dangerous men. Crime bosses, black market arms dealers, and paramilitary leaders. These were men who mostly lived in the shadows. Ryker walked into the room where Dr. Frankenbaum was making preparations for the showcase. The Dr. was being watched by two guards. His lab coat was neatly pressed but his face looked pale. Ryker stepped closer to him, his voice low and menacing. “I assume the weapon is ready?” Frankenbaum gave a sharp nod. “Yes, General. The compound has been synthesized and all systems are functioning.” Ryker’s eyes narrowed slightly. “Good. Because if it doesn’t work, you know the consequences.” Dr. Frankenbaum swallowed hard. “You said if it works, I’d be free to leave. That I’d get my wife and children back.” Ryker’s lips curled in

“What are you doing here?” Thomford asked cautiously. “Wait….was it you who sent us the video?” Rayner interjected. “Yes. That was me. I’m glad you accepted my invitation.” William replied. William motioned to two chairs nearby. “Kindly take your seats and I’ll explain why I have asked you to meet me today.” Rayner and Thomford took their seats, both of them still cautious of William. Rayner wasted no time in questioning William “So why exactly are we here? And what was that video all about?” William took his seat across from them. “I want to stop the bioweapon project.” A look of surprise formed on both of their faces. Rayner scowled. “Why? Why now? You funded this damn project. The bioweapon wouldn’t exist without your money.” William didn’t flinch. “And that’s exactly why I’m here. Because I know what Ryker’s planning to do with it.” Thomford crossed his arms. “You’ll have to explain better.” “As you know General Ryker is planning to test the bioweapon across Crenshaw

Natasha folded her arms and leaned against a metal table. “So let me get this straight. You plan to turn Ryker’s right-hand men against him?” William nodded without hesitation. She scoffed lightly. “That’s suicide. Thomford and Rayner are practically glued to his boots.” “They're loyal,” William said, “because Ryker has made them promises, but if they think he’s going to betray them…“ “They won’t take it well,” Natasha finished slowly. William turned and opened a hard case resting on the crate beside him. Inside was the AI mask. Matte black with subtle sensors lining the surface. He lifted it out gently and showed it to Natasha “This is how we make them doubt Ryker.” Natasha frowned, looking confused. “A mask? How’s that going to help” “It’s more than just a mask,” William said. “This mask the ability to perform facial mimicry and voice modulation” She crossed her arms. “So you are going to pretend to be someone?” “Not just anyone” William put on the mask and t

Chapter: Chapter 47
All official reports pointed to a gas leak as the cause of the explosion. There was also evidence that Mia and her son had died in the fire. However, something didn’t feel right Natasha. She just couldn’t shake the feeling that there was more to it. Her plan was to review CCTV footage around the apartment building just before and after the explosion and see if she could find anything suspicious. She sat alone in her surveillance room, staring at multiple angles from nearby street cameras. One of the cameras partially captured a van pulling up across the street. It was a dark van with no plate number and it remained idle for several minutes. No one got out, at least from the angle that she could see. And some minutes before the explosion, the van was gone. Natasha leaned in, rewound the feed, and watched again. It didn’t feel random. If it was just a passerby, why sit there? Why leave the scene so quickly? Her gut told her something was off. She pulled up another angle and th

The explosion roared through the air, a fireball erupting from the fourth-floor windows. Glass and debris scattered across the street and sirens wailed in the distance. Inside the van, Jayden flinched and buried his face in his mother’s coat. She whispered, “It’s okay, baby. It’s over.” William glanced at her. “No. It’s just beginning. But you’re free now. Both of you.” Mia looked at him, her eyes brimming with tears. “They’ll think we’re dead?” William nodded. “By the time the fire department gets in, the place will be burnt beyond recognition. “The bone residue I left would confirm that they were people inside, but they won't be able to identify it. Ryker will definitely think you're dead.” William added. Mia swallowed. “But if they find out…” “They won’t,” William said firmly. She nodded, gripping her son tightly. “Thank you for rescuing us.” Meanwhile, back at the apartment was total chaos. The guards guarding the outside of the building were in shock. The guards sta

Chapter: CHAPTER 34
Adrian's head banged with a sharp headache as he woke up. His body felt heavy as he sluggishly sat up on the bed. His eyes widened suddenly when he realized that he was naked. He turned and was shocked to see a woman lying beside him. It was Jane. She was still asleep, the sheets barely covering her body. “What the hell?” he exclaimed as he tried to wake her up. “Jane, wake up!” he shouted angrily. Jane stirred as she slowly opened her eyes. She frowned with confusion when she saw Adrian in front of her. Her face turned red as she quickly realized she was naked as well. She quickly pulled up the sheets to cover herself. “Adrian? What's going on? Why am I here?” “That’s what I should be asking you!” Adrian snapped. “What did you do? What the hell happened last night?” Jane looked horrified. “I didn’t do anything! You’re the one who told me to come here!” Adrian’s jaw tightened. “I never told you to come here.” It was at that point Adrian realized that it mu

Chapter: CHAPTER 33
Lana stepped into Adrian's office with some questions on her mind. Since the incident with the shooting, Adrian had become more familiar with her. She felt this was an opportunity for her to find out more about his issues with the Sinclairs. “Excuse me sir? Do you mind if I ask you something personal?” she said, breaking the silence. Adrian turned his chair to face her. “You can just call me Adrian when we're alone. What's your question” “Why did you make that deal with Mr. Richardson? You didn’t really need it. Was it just to ruin the Sinclairs’ deal?” she asked, searching his eyes. Adrian gave a faint smile but didn’t answer right away. Instead, he tapped his fingers on his tablet “You think I’d waste my time just to mess with Evelyn?” Lana raised an eyebrow. “Wouldn’t you? You knew how much the Sinclair family needed that deal. You swooped in at the last minute and took it. It wasn’t about business. it was personal.” His smile faded, and his expression turned cold.

Chapter: CHAPTER 32
Evelyn’s grip tightened on her tablet as she stared angrily at the news article. The Dave case had brought more negative attention to the family. She clenched her as she scrolled the article. Ever since Adrian had returned, it had been one issue or the other. A sharp knock snapped her out of her thoughts. Her personal assistant walked into the office. “Ma’am, your meeting with Mr. Richardson is in an hour.” She informed her softy. Evelyn took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. “Alright. Tell the driver to get ready,” She instructed, trying to hide her frustration. Sinclair Industries had been trying to get into the renewable energy sector. Initially she had planned to strike a deal with the Delaney family, but with Adrian taking over as CEO, the deal couldn’t happen. He would have no business with the Sinclairs. She decided to deal with the Richardson family instead. They were not as wealth as the Delaney family but they were bigger than the Sinclair family. Evelyn had spent

Chapter: CHAPTER 31
About an hour later, Dave’s phone rang. He answered and heard Adrian’s voice on the other end of the line. “What do you want?” he said sharply. “I know you threatened that man to commit suicide.” Adrian said calmly. Dave froze. “You don’t have any proof. Stop making crazy accusations” he tried to sound confident. Adrian chuckled darkly. “Really? I have a recording of you threatening him on the phone.” Dave swallowed hard. There was a long silence before he finally spoke. “You’re bluffing.” Adrian opened a recording and played it. Dave’s eyes widened in shock, his fingers trembling. How did Adrian have a recording of his phone call? Beads of sweat ran down his head. Just then officers barged into the room. “Dave Sethwood, you’re under arrest for conspiracy to commit murder.” “It seems the police has arrived. Enjoy your time in prison.” Adrian smirked before ending the call. Dave’s face twisted with anger. “What? This is ridiculous! I have nothing to do with it!” As the office

Adrian and Javier took the man to the police station. His appearance matched the person the police had seen on CCTV footage around the area the shooting took place. Detective Grey, the detective in charge began the questioning. “Who sent you? Why did you try to kill Adrian Delaney?” The man refused to answer any of the questions he was asked. He demanded to make a phone call. Dave paced around his room nervously. “You what?” he hissed. “How could you get caught?” The man lowered his voice. “It wasn’t my fault. I was set up.” Dave’s eyes widened. “Set up? How?” “I received a text claiming to be you asking to meet up.” “You have to help me or else I'll confess to everything.” The man threatened. Dave stopped pacing, his grip tightening on his phone. “You listen to me,” he said through gritted teeth. “You won’t say anything. I’ll send my lawyer, and he’ll take care of it. You’ll be out soon.” The man hesitated, fear evident in his voice. “You better not leave me hanging

Chapter: CHAPTER 29
Adrian had stepped out to make a call, leaving Brianne and Lana alone in the room. “So,” Brianne started, crossing her arms. “Why did you do it?” Lana frowned, pretending to be ignorant. “Do what?” she asked. “You know what I mean,” Brianne said. “Why did you save Adrian? You could have let someone else take care of him and rid us of the problem.” Lana stiffened. “It wasn’t like that. I couldn’t let him die so easily.” Brianne’s eyes narrowed. “Couldn’t let him die? You told me you hated him. What are you playing at?” Adrian stepped out of the hospital room, the door clicking softly behind him. The faint hum of the hospital corridor filled the silence as Lana turned her head to the sound of approaching heels. Brianne strolled in, her expression sharp and questioning, as if she had been waiting for this exact moment. Lana exhaled sharply, her tone cold. “He needs to suffer. Just like my father suffered. Dying quickly would be too merciful for someone like him.” Brianne studies h
