An Offer

Ernest's back at work. After one week he lingered at home in boredom. Now, he's working again at the cafe with Hellen. Ernest was able to get back to work.

The cafe customers are very crowded today. Ernest and Hellen were very busy as many customers arrived. Even so, this is a good provision for Ernest because he will get additional tips from customers he can save.

They work till nightfall. Finally, after the cafe closed, they returned home. Ah, yes. Ernest always remembered that his father always loved beef burgers from McDonald's. Maybe he'll stop by later before he gets home.

"Ah.. we're finally done with work. Let's go home!" Ernest asked excitedly. He's tidying things up and getting ready to close the cafe.

"Ernest, may I take you home?" Hellen offers instantly.

"Hm? Why? I'll bring the vehicle, you too. Why take me? Besides, you're a woman. You should be the one who came home early, your driver has already picked you up yet?" Ernest asked confusedly.

"He's been standing by since. Besides, I'm worried that your father will do something undesirable again. I'm worried about you," said Hellen worried.

"I'm used to his actions. In addition, he also promised me he wouldn't drink anymore. That's also for his health, seeing his body deteriorate like that. I'm worried about him if I don't come home sooner," Ernest said.

"But, he's a bad father to you, Er. He always hurts you, I don't know how many times you've been like this. Why don't you just split up with him? Besides, you've grown up, let him feel the pain of life. So that he doesn't depend on you too much. You can find a rental place nearby, it would be better," Hellen suggested.

"No matter how bad he is, he's still my father Hellen. I'll still go home, he's been waiting for me. You just lock this cafe, I'm in a hurry. See you tomorrow!" said Ernest hastily leaving Hellen.

While Ernest was leaving, Hellen could only sigh. Hellen always wondered why he'd end up with an old man who treated him badly like that.

"I'm just worried about you, Ernest. I hope he doesn't hurt you anymore," said Hellen with full hope.

Ernest came home feeling happy. He had bought a beef burger combo package with cola that he would later give to his father. His father must have been waiting for him a long time ago.

Knock! Knock!

- The Game Of Death -

Ernest knocked on the door, someone opened it shortly and it turned out to be his father. Ernest smiled happily when he saw that his father kept his promise. He's no longer drunk like last night.

"Oh, Ernest! You came home, what did you bring?" Lewis asked with a happy face.

"This is your favorite beef burger. Let's eat inside! While it's still warm, you like it, don't you?" asked Ernest with a happy face.

"Come on, come on! It's nice to have a kid who cares like you!" Lewis said happily.

They went into the house and ended up sitting in the dining room. They also talked about Ernest's work and Lewis's day.

"What about your job? Is the cafe crowded today?" Lewis asked while chewing his food so easily.

"Yes, it's very crowded today. I also get many tips. I save it to pay the debt, after payday I'll give you snacks," Ernest said.

"Yes, I understand. I'm sorry, yes. Because you have an objection to paying a lot of my debts, I promise that after this I won't get drunk and gamble again. Tomorrow I'll find a job," Lewis replied.

"All right, the point is now that we do our best. Live well, you have to stay healthy! Because I only have you now," said Ernest, who was rewarded with Lewis' smile and nod.

After that, they finished their dinner. They also parted ways to rest. Ernest went into his room, he kept tips from customers in a piggy bank. The wages that come from working in cafes are not much. Ernest had to make some extra money, but where?

"I need an extra income. It feels so hard, paying rent, father's debt, and daily meal money. How can I save for the future if I keep doing this? But, where are the next two days, I have to pay rent. Dad's debt has not been paid yet. What should I do?" Ernest asked himself.

Ernest was dizzy. But he had to be able to cope. Anyway, it's his duty. Suddenly, when Ernest was in such confusion. The phone's ringing. There's a call coming in.

"Who the hell, this late at night called me? He doesn't know the time at all," Ernest murmured bitterly.

Ernest saw his phone. He saw his username, but it turns out his number is not known at all. Who the hell is this? Ernest immediately picked up the call.

"Hello, Ernest! How are you?" asked someone as if he knew Ernest well.

"Who are you? Do you know me? Your number is unknown here," Ernest asked confusedly because the person greeted him as if he was already very familiar.

"Just save me with the name of your hero, I will help your financial crisis. I know now you are in trouble and need money, right? How about playing with me? I will pay you billions of money if you win my entire game," he said.

"I will earn billions by playing with you. Are you a prankster? I don't believe you. I'm sorry, I'm busy. Next time you give me a crazy offer if I'm out of my mind," Ernest said want closing the call.

"I'm sorry, I'm not a fraud or anything. I'm serious. I'll give you money just by running my 13 games if you succeed. You'll get 100,000 dollars as the prize. If you're interested, meet me tomorrow at Veteran Street No. 9 in an old rice grinder building. I'll give you the first test directly to you. I'll wait for you. Then I'll see you tomorrow, Ernest. Think carefully about my offer, yes!" the man on the phone closed the call suddenly.
