Chapter Nine: Curious.

Chapter Nine: Curious.

A WEEK has passed and Morgan Marshall is now fine after he was confined for a week due to some complications and also to monitor his heart.

“If it’s not because of Paxton, your father might be dead by now,” Sharon said.

They were busy packing Morgan’s bag, now that they were going home. He will be discharged this morning.

“I still don't trust him,” Levi replied.

“Well, you’re right. We shouldn't trust him right away. One thing that's bothering me is the fact that he married Lorelei when he didn't need money. You know how ugly she was when she had the scars on her face.”

Levi shrugged. “Just don't fall for his trap. I’ll pay the bill.”

He pretended to not care at all when in fact, he has a bad feeling towards Paxton. It seemed like he has seen him before, and it bothered him. He was too familiar but he just couldn’t figure out where he have seen him.

After talking to his mother, Levi went out of the hospital room to go to the front desk to ask for their bills.

“I would like to pay for Morgan Marshall’s bill,” he said.

“Alright, Sir! I’ll check it.” The nurse looked through the computer in front of her before she lifted up her head. “Mr. Braxon has paid all the bills, Sir.”

Levi clenched his jaw. “Was it Paxton Braxon?”

“Yes, Sir.”

Levi sighed before he nodded and turned his back to the nurse. He’s so annoyed that Paxton kept on showing off his wealth to them! He’s getting on his nerves!

His phone in his pocket vibrated so he took it out and answered the call from Darius.

“Hello?”

“How was your father?”

“He’s fine, thank you for the concern,” he replied. “About what happened last week, please reconsider marrying Brittany… I'm sure you didn't want to marry a woman who already lost her purity—”

“I said I want Lorelei. Why do you keep on insisting that I marry Brittany when I was the one who will decide who I want to marry?”

“I’m sorry, it’s just that, it was unfair on our side. You don't have to pull out all your investments in our company…”

“Speaking of, I will pull out all my investments tomorrow if Lorelei won’t agree to my proposal today. Make sure to persuade her or else, you know what will happen.”

He was about to say something but Darius quickly ended the call. Levi trembled in anger, he clenched his fists.

“Damn it!”

He needs to talk to Paxton right now! Raging in anger he went back to the hospital room to fetch his father. After he sent back his father and mother to their Villa, he set up a meeting with Paxton and Lorelei. At a French restaurant, they met at exactly eight in the evening for dinner.

They were all silent while eating, but right after they finished the meal, Levi started to talk.

“I will get straight to the point,” he said. Then he looked up to Paxton. “You need to divorce my sister. Darius is a very influential person and if we kept on insisting not to do as he said, we didn't know what he could do.”

Paxton glanced at Lorelei to see her reaction before he looked back to Levi.

“What can he do to us?” he asked.

“Well, I’m sure that you couldn't mend the 15% share he has on our company that he will pull out once you did not agree to divorce Lorelei. And our future project with him that’s worth $30 million.”

Lorelei held Paxton’s hand and started to lose hope… that she might end up in the hands of a cruel man like Darius.

“I won’t divorce her, no matter what,” Paxton replied.

Levi, who's trying to hold back his anger, couldn't take it anymore, he slammed his hands on the table, drawing attention from the other customers.

“Why are you so tough?” he asked. “Can’t you see what will happen to our company if you insist on keeping your marriage with my sister? Lorelei! Talk to your husband! He's so selfish that he could sacrifice our whole company just because of his ego!”

“Paxton…” Lorelei squeezed his hand with her worried eyes. “I guess we have to stop right here, we can't win on Darius…”

“No…” Paxton insisted. “We will not get a divorce.”

Levi inhaled sharply, “If you don't want to divorce her then fix this mess! I’m sure that you can ask your godfather to mend the 15% investment of the Lavigne family to Marshall’s H&R! And the $30 million dollar future project with us!”

“Alright, I will do that. You’re complicating things when we can fix it in a snap of a finger.”

“YOU have to slow down, Pax.”

Sylvester said after Paxton asked him to invest $500 million in Marshall's H&R.

“I will use my money to invest in them. Don’t worry about it,” Paxton replied. “I just need to use your name again…”

His godfather laughed. “Marshalls has nothing to do with your plan. It was only Darius Lavigne. Why does it seem like all are in favor of Marshalls?”

“I have to step on Darius’ ego, and doing this will make him,” he chuckled. “Besides, I have lots of money. I don't want to end up like you who has a lot of money but doesn’t have a son to inherit it. So you have no choice but to adopt me.”

“Alright, alright! Tell the Vice Chairman to transfer the investment to Marshall H&R right now. I don't want to hear your mocks!”

Paxton laughed and dialed the Vice Chairman’s number. Not that long, Sofia Wyatt answered his call.

“Good evening, Sofia! I want you to invest $500 million in Marshall H&R right now using my account.”

“Mr. Sylvester Brazon told me to ask him first —”

“I’ve already talked to him. In fact, I’m here in his hospital room.”

“Sofia! Just do as he said!” Sylvester yelled.

“Alright, Sir! I will do that.”

Everything went well. Levi couldn't believe that the Golden Realty Group invested the $500 million right away. He even insulted Paxton that he's abusing his godfather but he ignored it. He doesn't care much about Levi’s complaints and insults. He only cared what Darius would feel once he discovered that the investment that he pulled out won't affect the Marshalls that much.

Darius already pulled out all his investments to the Marshall family because of his anger. Just by thinking how Lorelei rejected him, it's making him mad. But what angers him most was the fact that her husband, Paxton stepped on his ego.

“Lord Darius, I’ve already pulled out your 15% investment from Marshall’s H&R…” His secretary said but his eyes seemed like he wanted to tell something more.

“What is it?” He raised his brow.

“My Lord… I got the news that Golden Realty invested $500 million in Marshall's H&R…”

“What? Are you kidding me? Golden Realty won’t invest in them!”

“They did, My Lord. In fact, they also have a $100 million project with them…”

“Damn it!”

He remembered Paxton. He knows that it was all because of Lorelei’s husband! How could he persuade a billionaire man like Sylvester Braxon to invest in Marshalls when there are other companies that are worth investing in? This made Darius curious…
