Chapter 20
Three days ago.On the five metre stone wall that surrounded Groggic’s town. A Knight and Mage stood at their post. The two men sat over the edge sharing a bowl of sweet grapes. They stared off into blue skies, with wisps of white clouds above them. The gentle breeze blew against their faces with the warm sun bathing them for the perfect day. From the tree line, three legions of Elven warriors bordered the town. They now wore sleek emerald leather armour, with a single arming sword by their hip, and buckler on their forearm. The gate of their respective affinity, was imprinted onto the face, of their bucklers. They blended perfectly to the canopy provided by the old trees. There were three captains to the legions, two of them were burly men, wearing large plates of silver armour.Ul’lanna was the third, slender yet tall captain. She wore a more sleek form fitting armour, wielding a nodachi. The longer katana was forged from a metal native to the south. Mythril a nearly weightless me

Chapter 21: 14 years ago
Yamada awoke only five days after Elven assault. The pungent scent of burning wood permeated the hut. He heard the frantic sounds people rushing around. The world spun around as he sat up slowly. From head to toe, Yamada was bruised. His skin yellow and purple, bones held in place with bandages and wooden splints. He looked around in a daze, seeing Islanders covered in cuts and bruises, to those missing limbs and being amputated, and finally to a group weeping weakly covered in burns. He stumbled out of the bed, falling onto his knees and hands. A unbearable obliterating pain shot through his entire body.He shrieked rolling onto his back, another searing sharp pain travelled through his body. Wailing and flailing, the pain became a loop of misery. To cry hurt his ribs. Crying made his face scrunch, jostling the loose bones in his jaw and nose. To stop it all he tried to clench a fists, each finger wrapped tightly around a splint.“MUMMY!” He cried out, snot and tears filling his eyes

One month after the Elven attack, Urkse and Cin prepared to fly back to the Citadel. Cin’s torso was bandaged in a sash.He bowed deeply to the thankful Islanders. Cin felt sick seeing their praise and thanks. He couldn’t bear to look at the destruction he had left behind. The ashen tree line and the groans of disfigured Islanders, haunted him. Urkse entered into his Draken state, leaving the Islanders in awe.As Cin and the others leapt onto Urkse’s back, he noticed a young child standing on the cliff edge, staring off to the west.Yamada gazed over the edge, the Maelstrom crashing under him. His knuckles white, with his nails digging deep into his palm. Kahu cautiously approached him.“Yamada, come and have some lunch.” She said warmly reaching her arm out to pat his shoulder. He spun around swatting her arm away. Yamada’s slit amber eyes made her freeze in terror. He started to run around the edge of the Yamata’s main island. Yamada struck every tree and rock he passed.Kahu sat wi

Yamada awoke to the sound of heavy knocking against the wooden door. He perked his heavy head up, parched and weary. His vision was still clearing up for the morning. Each knock rung in his head, like a loud gong. What had made him so thirsty and tired? He tried to sit up, unable to feel his right arm. Shock ran through his body as he looked to his arm, suddenly breathing a sigh of relief.Gwyneth had fallen asleep on his till it fell numb. Yamada brushed her face, before carefully and gently pulling his numb arm out. As he freed his arm, her eyes shot open, bloodshot and irritated at the knocking.“Enough!” She shouted through the door. The sound of scurrying feet scrapped against the stone floor. Yamada begun to get out of bed, when he felt Gwyneth pull him down. “Where do you think you’re going?” She growled.“To train?” He said anxiously. “Can you seriously not take a small brief moment to lay with me?” She said glaring at him. He cleared his throat, awkwardly humming and hawing f

Yamada found himself in the abyss. He felt the water on his skin, and something watching him. A wave of dread washed over him, as he tried to find some light.‘WEAK!” A booming voice hissed. The voice rung all around him. He raised his fists as a reflex, breathing rapidly and heavily.“Who are you!?” He shouted out.“Yamada...” Gwyneth’s faintly called out.The abyss was illuminated. The Eight headed serpent now surrounded Yamada. Each head lurched forward ready to devour him. He trembled in fear.“Weak.” They hissed, still frozen in stone.“What are you?” He asked shaking. One of the stone serpent heads lunged forward stopping just in front of him. “Your true strength.” It hissed.“Yamada...wake up.” Gwyneth’s faint voice echoed out.Yamada looked up to the Oeo above him, the sun shining down on him. He leapt up trying to reach the light. The serpent shot up after him.“Only we have the true power to kill Begron.” It hissed, before slinking down.Yamada shot awake, yelling out, findi

At the crack of dawn, Yamada and Jacara stood in the forest, ten paces apart. Gwyneth, Soel and Encara watched from above a high rock pillar. They sat off the edge, with a wicker basket full of bread and jams, and a bottles of wine.“Did you really need to be here Soel? And did we have to do this so early in the morning? Yamada is going to win.” She pouted, crossing her arms and legs.Soel slapped her on the back, making her lurch forward.“You’re just mad, you didn’t get your morning love.” She said smirking and nudging her in the ribs.“Shut up.” She growled.“YAMADA! If you lose this, I’m making you run 100 laps of the third ring naked!”Yamada winced summoning his armour.“Jacara, if you lose! I’ll make you run a long distance!” Encara yelled out. Jacara winced drawing a card. He kept the blank back towards Yamada.Soel stood up dusting her hands.“Alright, don’t hold back you two. If anything fatal is going to happen, we’ll jump in. Duellists take your stances!”Yamada raised Har

Two and a half weeks had pass since Ul’lanna ran off. She had depleted all her rations, and survived off worms and bugs, with a single flask of water left. The horse had been sent off as a distraction three days ago. Ul’lanna trudged on wearily, the sun beating down on her.Hope of reaching the Citadel, before dying of exhaustion or hunger, felt impossible. Her stomach clawed at her insides, ravaging her mind with thoughts of devouring anything she found.Ul’lanna struck herself across the face, letting out a grunt, and continued to march onwards.“You’re not going to die here. You’ve worked too damn hard, to die in a forest. The Citadel has to be close.” She shouted to herself. Forcing herself to believe her own words.“It’s about a day’s march from here.” A familiar man’s voice said from the tree line. A cold shiver ran down Ul’lanna’s spine. She quickly drew her weapon, engulfing it in a raging flame, and scanned the area. Her heart hammered against her chest, each breath felt shor

Yamada flew into the Citadel, terrifying the citizens, mages and knights, as he soared down to the Blesseds. Ul’lanna had fallen unconscious over his shoulder. He carried her nodachi in his mouth, and Harbinger in his free arm.The Blesseds rushed out, and then stopped giving Yamada a concerned and anxious look. He held a bloodied Elf warrior, and his armour soaked in blood and guts, but most of all he wore a too gleeful smile.“Help her. I have to go and find King En-“On cue, Encara emerged from a blinding light in front of Yamada.“What happened? Are you okay?” He asked looking him up and down with a worried face.“I feel amazing. I killed a son of Begron. They have one million soldiers coming to attack us.” Yamada said in a euphoric trance.Encara and the Blesseds standing around, shook their heads in disbelief. Before they could press him further, Yamada took off towards the Keep.“Alright, we’re not gonna get anywhere with him. Get her inside.” Encara said following after the Bl

Ul’lanna spent the night in Yamada’s bed, with him sleeping next to Gwyneth, staring wide eyed at the ceiling. At the crack of dawn like a robot, Yamada opened his eyes, rolling to look off the bed.He noticed Ul’lanna staring vacantly at the ceiling and let out a yelp, scurrying back. Gwyneth let out a groan and frowned, pulling him in tight.“What’s wrong?” She asked. “Do Elves sleep with their eyes open?” Yamada nervously whispered.Gwyneth peeked over his shoulder, seeing Ul’lanna’s stare.“Maybe she sleeps with her eyes open?” “It’s bold of you two, to assume that I slept.” She said.Yamada scratched his head. “Is the bed not comfortable?” He asked, poking it.She craned her neck slowly towards him, her eyes bloodshot and bulging. “Do you not know who you’re sleeping next to? Or in!?”He glanced over his shoulder to Gwyneth resting her head on his shoulder. He cocked an eyebrow at Ul’lanna and shrugged. “Gwyneth Lockhart?” He said hesitantly.Ul’lanna leapt out of the bed pointin

His face changed from confusion, to embarrassment to anger in the matter of seconds.“What the hell are you all doing out here!?” He yelled marching towards them. They broke off their huddle, quickly scurrying into a line and bowed. Rai stood before them, hands on his hips, impatiently waiting for their response. “Well?” He asked, Sarah stepped forward. “We were sick of the Forsaken Knight and Jacara being ahead of us. I mean, the other Grand Knights, haven’t even noticed we were gone.” She said clenching her fists.“Wrong, we didn’t care you were gone.” Rai said counting them. “There’s only eight of you. Who isn’t here?” He asked.“Grand Knight Lyn and Fervias, did
