Reclaiming the palace (2)
Miranda stood by the window as she witnessed the rising of the sun. It felt like it was the first sunlight she had experienced since she was born. The warmth of the sun made her body quiver with anticipation of the unknown. It had been a perilous night, perhaps the longest she had ever experienced. The Kingdom was now the people's. She stood there simply as the bridge between the people and the throne, a role she was more than happy to play. As she kept observing the sunlight, the door that led to the room she was standing in slowly opened. She sighed as she turned around, gazing as Kevin stepped into the room.He sighed as he slowly approached her. There was a look of satisfaction and gratification on his face. He could not remember the last time he was that peaceful, and to think that he nearly died the night before was even more upsetting. But he was peaceful and that was all that mattered."How are you enjoying the peace?" Kevin asked her as he approached. The room was the former

The call
Damek hid behind a tree as the group of mages and soldiers sent by Miranda to bring them in dashed past them. The mages used magic to try and locate them but Damek was fast enough to create a fake magical trail for them to follow. He watched as they ran towards the trail and then, dashed back to the little cave where he and Richmond were hiding.Since the events of the previous night, the entire capital has been swarming with guards and soldiers. Damek did not know where most of them came from. They had been dormant until then. He was certain he had underestimated the power of the Elderien people and that was weird since he was once one of them. Perhaps things and people change, or maybe even when he was there, he did not belong with them. He found his true place in Mintoval and that was all that mattered to him. As he approached the cave, he glanced over his shoulder again and used magic to scan his environment in order to make sure that no mage was following him. When all was clear

The call (2)
Richmond took the lead as they walked out of the woods. He was getting suffocated in the cave where they had been hiding. It was true that the mages were still after them but when Richmond thought of it, none of the mages knew what they looked like, or did they? Nevertheless, he wanted to take the shot and see where he would get To. Damek, on the other hand, hated the idea. He did not want them to step out of the cave at all. Richmond scoffed at his opinion and considered him to be whining."You have acted all bold and mighty. What happened to you along the way? Why are you scared?" Richmond had asked."I am not afraid, I am only being cautious. This is a stupid move and it will be the death of us if we do not think well before we act.""And what do you suggest? Do we keep hiding here like rats while the good things of my kingdom get taken away by my sister? Is that what you want?""My powers are not as strong as they once were, Richmond. It is best for us to wait for the reinforceme

The coronation (1)
Miranda stood still as she gazed at her reflection in the mirror. She was dressed for the occasion. The beautiful purple dress she was wearing coupled with the ornaments that adorned her made her look like a true queen. It had taken so long for her to get here, it had taken so much. She could already hear the coronation bells ringing. The Lords were rushing into the courtroom, awaiting the presence of the woman to be crowned queen. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary and there was no disturbance whatsoever. She had expected a Mintoval uprising or an attack prior to the coronation but there was none. Was Richmond going to be silent while she took the throne? He had not been arrested and the mages sent out to find him had not reported anything. She was beginning to get worried. But then, the door to her chambers opened and Elle walked inside. She smiled delightedly as she saw Miranda. She was truly the most beautiful woman in the Kingdom and no one could dispute that fact. "If I did not

The coronation(2)
"My Queen...My Queen...we must go..."Miranda could hear someone call to her but she was unresponsive. She was the queen, was she not? She had taken the crown, only for her to experience the greatest tragedy of her life. She could barely breathe. There was a tightness in her chest and her mind was not with her."Miranda!"Kevin called to her again and she came back to her senses. She slowly looked around her and one more time, she was hit by the smell of blood and alcohol. She saw the masses of dead Lords on the ground, only one or two who did not drink had managed to survive the attack. Those were shaken and they clung to each other like leeches."We caught one of them," Kevin said to her and she nodded."Bring them to me." She slowly replied and shut her eyes, feeling tears stream down from her face. Lord Henry's head still lay on her lap and though he was as pale as chalk at that time, she was still fixated on his handsome face that was now stained with blood.A terrible blow had b

The pangs of training
Alastair opened his eyes as the dreamscape faded. For many nights that had passed, he could consider that the best dream he had had. Miranda's presence was like honey to his mind and the intimacy they shared in the dreamscape was something they both needed. But he could not help but wonder how disturbed and stressed out she was. He wished he could do something to help her, at least take the burden off her shoulders a little. But there was little or nothing he could do, not unless they used powerful magic to bind their minds and let Alastair take control like last time. That was not even certain to work for the distance between them was so great even the connection would snap.Alastair heard a cock crow from a distance and sighed. The little room he had been sleeping in slowly began to brighten up as the rays of the morning sun hit the windows. The first warm ray that fell on Alastair's face burned away his worries and when he stood up, he discovered Fristborn was in the room with him

The pangs of training (2)
Cara struck the wood with the last energy she had and fell. She groaned as she took deep breaths. Her legs were shaking from the amount of pressure on her body. It was already evening and throughout the day, she had been training. She did not get any meal and the only thing Alastair offered was a few drops of water on an hourly basis. He was being a devil! Cara could not understand why she needed to train so hard and so intensely. It was not her fault that she could not remember everything he had said back at the last training session. Could anyone even remember everything they were taught?"If you do not remember my words from a few days ago, then how do you expect to remember the spells I will teach you?"Alastair had fumed when she complained it was impossible."Have you ever seen me use a grimoire? As a mage, your spells are a part of you. You must remember every little detail about it, e every procedure documented, every expected result. You are not a common mage, you are destin

Werewolves (1)
Dark shadows crept from the woods toward the house, taking care not to tip off the prey they had come to collect. The shadows growled softly as they moved, taking precedence before they lay up beside the door and listened. It was silent inside. There was no spoon clanking, neither was there any noise being made. Perhaps he had already gone to sleep? That would make it overly better and easier for them to do their job. The shadows retreated as a large one suddenly hurled towards the door and knocked it down. The door came down with a loud bang, making the little girl inside jump up and help. But when she saw the true form of the shadows, she screamed even more. They stood like men but they were actually wolves. They were large and had long sharp claws, and the black fur which covered their skin seemed like it had been soaked in something oily.Alastair quickly got up and made an energy orb which he held in his hand. The creatures stood, all four of them, and gazed at him. There was som

Werewolves (2)
Cara dashed through the woods as she tried to catch a glimpse of what was happening inside the house. Fristborn followed her closely, looking over his shoulder as he did. She kept running until she tripped and fell, bruising her knee in the process."Ah!"She cried out as she fell, her eye almost getting pierced by a twig."Are you alright?" Fristborn asked her and helped her stand. She cursed and mumbled inaudible words as she stood up."We should go back for him. Alastair is in danger and we should not run away. It feels like we are leaving him behind." Cara said and sniffled. Fristborn cupped her face reassuringly."We are not. He ordered us to leave. Those creatures back there were faster and stronger than what we have ever fought in this plane. They were like demons. We do not know what they are exactly and until we do, it is unwise for us to go back looking for trouble. When the time is right, I believe Alastair will send us a signal. We just have to wait." Fristborn said and sh

Werewolves (3)
Fristborn and Cara followed the man who had introduced himself as Ben as he combed through the woods. He was their only chance of helping Alastair and the fact that he has Alastair's face was something Cara could not comprehend. Were they brothers? Alastair never spoke of having a brother. Was it just a resemblance? They couldn't tell. They just had to get Alastair first and then perhaps other things will follow."Come on, we need to be quick about this," Ben whispered and took a turn, going left. A large owl flew past him, startling him for a moment and making him curse. He shot a quick glance at Cara and Fristborn who kept observing him like he was some thief. Ben scoffed."I do not appreciate those eyes. Why don't we change the expression?" He asked them"We did not do anything wrong. Or is it a crime to look?" Cara asked him."You, young lady are very rude. You must work on that tongue of yours. Do you not wish to find a husband someday?" Ben asked. Cara was about to reply when F
