Data Virus
Why did Krasin not discover anything suspicious despite looking very carefully for one? Could he have been blind to what was very obviously staring him right in the face? Not only Krasin, but this also applies to the other researchers participating in the test too. Why hadn’t any of them noticed anything suspicious at all too? It was glaringly obvious what Cale did in the room was highly suspicious. No matter how he tried to hide his actions, anybody who was paying close attention would surely still notice when Cale had grabbed the three researchers in his room, Hobbs, Jenkins, and Fazz. Once would’ve been a coincidence, twice was cause to be suspect and thrice proved there was definitely something wrong. Yet, despite the multiple pairs of eyes watching the room, nobody seemed to have noticed anything. What was happening? The answer was very simple… Selene happened! Cale didn’t know this yet but the first of his faithful, Selene was not an ordinary person at all. She was
Test Results
The rest of the day went on without incident. The drug testing proceeded as planned and was over several hours later. At the moment, Selene was inside Krasin’s office giving a report about the progress of the test. “So far, thats all we could find about the subjects biopolymer functions. The initial priming base showed a standard metabolic reaction and subsequent testing with various non toxic drugs reflected these results as the subject’s reaction to these drugs remained consistent with normal readings.” Krasin held a tablet and was swiping through different reports on the screen as he perused their contents while listening to Selene’s debrief. The results on the tablet correlated with the report Selene was giving, showing clearly the different values of Cale’s tests. After reading for a while, Krasin finally set the tablet aside before looking at Selene and asking, “With this result what is your conclusion?”Selene answered, “Everything shows that the subject’s body remains tha
Candor
A short time later, Selene exited Krasin’s office, leaving only the man resting languidly on his chair lost in thought. A few seconds later, the door opened once again and a tall woman with slender curves peeking through her large coat walked into Krasin’s office. Looking up, Krasin, recognizing the lady said, “You’re here, Candor. Are you finished with the task I assigned to you?” Closing the door behind her, the woman replied, “Yes Dr Krasin. I did as you instructed. As soon as the test was over, I secretly captured and interrogated the three researchers who participated in the test under the guise of getting their personal report.” “And what did you find?” Krasin urged. “Nothing. I didn’t find anything suspicious at all,” Candor answered. “Really?” Krasin asked, feeling very surprised internally. “Im certain of it Dr, if there was something im sure I would’ve discovered it but there was nothing.” Hearing this confirmation, Krasin furrowed his brows in thought, his mind
Spy Antics
Krasin’s mind was wandering so be quickly pulled it back. Now focused on the matter at hand, Krasin began to chi snider what to do. There were no good solutions. Since the evidence pointed to Selene now being in cahoots with the other three, there wasn’t much Krasin could do. While there was the option of a frame-up, Krasin refrained from thinking about it. Each researcher involved in this project possessed significant capabilities that were vital to the success of the project and Krasin was wise enough to not harm the chickens for their eggs. Unbelievable as it seemed, Krasin had a bottom line and there were some things that even he was against doing. So with no other option, Krasin could only take minor action against them. “Very well, since you didn’t find any problems let this matter rest for now. You can release them after making sure they cannot remember anything. Then meet Dr Selene for further arrangements on the next steps to take for the project.” Hearing the first part
Trevor’s Suspicion
Trevor entered his room feeling exhausted from the all the activities of the day. As usual after finishing work, Trevor to the audio player on his desk and pressed play, allowing a deep enchanting music to play sonorously in the room. As soon as the music started, Trevor’s brows visibly relaxed and his shoulders fell like a weight was washing over him, relieving him of his burden. Feeling light, Trevor floated away to a corner of his room—figuratively speaking—some gadgets and appliances were gathered. Rifling through the pile, Trevor searched until he recovered a spare communicator from among the pile. Smiling, Trevor began thinking around with the spare communicator while humming along to the rhythm of the music. The spare communicator was one Trevor had prepared in case there was ever a need to take secretive action that he didn’t want being traced back to him, just like in this case. Turning on the communicator, Trevor quickly navigated through the menu until he finally pu
Trevor’s Suspicion 1
Unlike the other researchers, Krasin and Trevor were actually in the look out for anything suspicious during the tests and unlike Krasin, Trevor actually knew what he was doing so when he became suspicious of something it couldn’t be easily dismissed and Trevor actually had the means to investigate these suspicious by himself. The major problem with the test was that Trevor couldn’t explain what was causing Cale’s heart rate to spike like it did and while Selene’s explanation was reasonable there were still other things that could explain them just as well. But when Trevor went over these explanations in his head, he discovered that while they fit the narrative, they couldn’t actually ease Trevor’s concerns. Therefore, Trevor decided to think outside the box and consider things from a different angle. He reasoned, “What if there was something else causing these spikes but I just cannot see it?”As soon as Trevor thought about this, his mind immediately went to one conclusion… there wa
Trevor’s Suspicion 2
Candor was having a discussion with a few others in the cafeteria when somebody suddenly sat down at their table without invitation. Displeased, Candor turned to the intruder and was about to say something only to freeze when she recognized who it was. Carrying a tray of food, Trevor smiled at everybody at the table and spoke with an inviting smile. “Hello everybody. Hope I’m not interrupting anything but I’m sure you won’t mind if I sit here right?” Trevor rudely imposed himself on the group, sitting down without invitation and acting without a care at all. Yet no one said anything in protest, they simply watched in silence, eyes darting between Trevor and Candor, waiting for one of them to speak first. There was no need to go into the dynamics of the relationship between Trevor and Candor. One was the previous second in command while the other is the current one. Both of their superiors were rivals and naturally, they weren’t expected to get along. Candor was upset. Previo
Duchess
Several hours later, Trevor was back in his room with the spare communicator im his hand. There was still a little bit remaining for the progress bar to finish loading so Trevor decided to wait until it was done. In the meantime, he organized everything that had happened today in his head, taking special note of things that seemed out of place or noteworthy of which only two things stood out—the anomaly of the test and the meeting with Candor at the cafeteria. About the run in at the cafeteria, Trevor was mildly interested in what they were planning. He recognized the seven other researchers with Candor, knowing they each held different positions in the lab with some working in the background, never actually participating actively in the tests. Like Candor, two others had been brought along with Krasin when he took over and Trevor knew at least one other had worked in Krasin’s team before making them part of Krasin’s posies. As for the other four, they were likely won over by Kra
Duchess 1
“Trevor! Is that really you?” As soon as Trevor finished speaking, a loud scream immediately came from the other end of the phone as the person called Duchess immediately began ranting excitedly. “Wow, you’ve finally decided to call me again. It’s been two years since the last time we talked. I thought you’d already forgotten about me.” “So tell me, how’s the assignment going. Are you still on the Gilland case. I heard Robert Gilland had fled the fortress but was captured back but I didn’t hear any news about you. I didn’t pay too much attention to it so I simply thought you were still undercover in fortress 9.” “No thats not right… according to the signal trace this call is coming from within the fortress meaning that you’re back.” “Really, are you back already? That’s great! Where are you exactly? Hold on, theres no need to tell me. Give me some time and I can pinpoint your exact location.” The person called duchess talked nonstop, incessantly asking Trevor so many questi

“Oh, you decrypted a video file using the program I wrote but didn’t find anything wrong with it so you decided to call me for help hoping I’d uncover it’s secret for you, is that right?” Duchess asked. Trevor replied, “Yes that’s right.” As tech support, the encryption program Trevor used to create a secure network channel in his sore communicator plus the decryption program were both created by Duchess. They were both too of the line system programs that could beat almost every other program of its kind in the world. The fact that one of them didn’t work means that Trevor was dealing with something beyond his league. Duchess asked, “What parameters did you get for the decryption to work in?” “I set it at the highest level to perform a full scrub of the video file,” Trevor answered. “Really? And even that didn’t work?” “It didn’t,” Trevor confirmed. “Then are you sure there is really something wrong with the file?” Trevor didn’t answer immediately but paused to think before s
