Space Scars
Cale’s body jolted like a current of electricity was surging through him. Shortly after, Cale woke up. Cale’s eyes opened to the sight of familiar walls surrounding him. Feeling the soft padded floor beneath him, Cale was reminded of where he was. A sudden comfort welled up within Cale as a strange sense of relief overcame him. Sigh! “This is good. I’m still captured and locked away in a cell like an animal. But it’s fine 'cause it means my reality hasn’t changed.” Thinking of all this, Cale slowly stood up and patted himself down as if shaking away some imaginary dust from his body. Right now, for Cale, being captured was a good thing. In the past few hours, so many things have happened… Blessing day arrived during which an anomaly occurred and Cale awakened amidst uncertain circumstances. Then Cale fainted after which he discovered he had been captured upon waking up and immediately after he had undergone an unusual experience where he finally discovered his powers. All
Hostage Or Assailant?
Like a blight of affliction plaguing the world the scar in space was menacing. Along the jagged sharp edges, ripples formed like waves spreading apart as a visible airflow surrounded the portal as if trying to converge inward like a wound healing itself. The visuals were disturbing but Cale remained unaffected for this was his ticket to freedom. As the scar overlapped with the barrier, just as Cale expected, without any struggle at all, the barrier immediately broke. Seeing this, Cale was super excited. Honestly, Cale while holding much expectation wasn’t completely sure this would work. His knowledge of space and matter convergence was very limited to only knowing that there was a finite quantity of matter that could occupy a certain position of space at the same time. Therefore when multiple layers of space collide together in a particular position then the matter occupying that position would be obliterated. Cale’s power worked like overlapping another layer of space from a
A.G.R.C.W
The woman Cale encountered was naturally Selene. After entering the separate experimental area of the research facility, just as she was about to access Cale’s cell to ensure he was properly confined despite the incident happening, the subject in question actually showed up in front of her, very much unconfined and out of his cell. Selene was rendered speechless by Cale’s sudden appearance but she quickly recovered after which she immediately made her move. This was around the time Cale decided to capture Selene and take her hostage. At that moment, Selene quickly reached into one of her many pockets and retrieved five items from them, then she proceeded to throw four of them at Cale. At the same time, Selene held the last item—a remote-like contraption—and pressed a button on it. Immediately, the four items she threw at Cale which were super miniaturized in size suddenly began to expand. In an instant, the four items went from being a tiny toy car to over ten times the size.
Cale’s Talent
“Is this what you call talent?” Selene was filled with doubt. She wasn’t a fighter so she wasn’t exactly aware of things related to combat. The only thing Selene understood were numbers and in this particular case, she was very familiar with the numbers related to the robots in her possession. These robots had been in Selene’s possession for a long time so she knew what they were capable of. As a researcher and non awakened without combat training, they were the only means of protection that she possessed. Naturally, Selene had tried to understand them as much as possible. Of course there weren’t much opportunities a researcher like Selene would have to test her robots in a combat situation so she only understood their theoretical capabilities based on their stats. Selene also understood Cale’s physical capabilities. The tests she’d run on Cale while he was unconscious revealed what he was physically capable of. Thus after comparison, Selene concluded that Cale shouldn’t be ab
Failure!
The third chaser emerged from the shadow of another as if bleeding off from a layer of ink. Its body, extremely close to the floor stayed just out of reach from Cale’s vision making it hard for him to capture accurately. Whoosh! By the time Cale witnessed it appearing, the chaser had already zipped out of his vision and was aiming directly for him. This time, it was really hard for Cale to react. Behind him was a wall and to his sides, the vanguard and the remaining chasers cornered Cale, preventing him from escaping. He was pinned down with not many options left, only one. Thinking about the final move he had left to play, Cale hesitated to act. He had been saving this move to help him turn the situation around. If he used it here now, then the move would become useless as the opponents would be on guard against him using it again. Cale gritted his teeth as he felt helpless. But there was no time to hesitate anymore. “Since you’ve pushed me to this point then I can only t
Unexpected Outcome
Selene watched as Cale’s eyes glazed over into unconsciousness from her kick which was wholly satisfying to her. Thinking of how close she had come to falling into Cale’s hands, Selene thanked her lucky stars that she was unharmed. And thinking of the reason why Cale eventually failed to capture her, Selene quickly retrieved a small device from her pocket. It was a small metal ovoid device shaped like an egg with intricate lines and patterns engraved all over it. Through these lines, a complex array of gears could be seen running within from which a dim blueish light twinkled on and off. This egg shaped device was a micro barrier generator designed for personal use by soldiers in the battlefield. The barrier worked by emitting a certain frequency that caused air molecules around a specific area to vibrate. This vibration was mostly undetected as it resonated with the surroundings, taking factors like heat, humidity, atmospheric pressure and other environmental factors into consi
Curse?
“Yes ma’am. This is what’s happening so far…” and just like that Trevor began filling Selene in on everything that happened while she was away. Meanwhile, Selene continued her investigation. By now she had already finished observing the barrier. Of course with the barrier being broken, Selene could only investigate the barrier generators which were two solid posts embedded into the entryway to the cell. These metal posts were made of sophisticated material and would not easily be destroyed. Also their sturdy frame encased completely in dense metal could block several signal interferences from the outside to ensure the barrier remained up and running. Yet it was still well designed generator that Cale, an ordinary person managed to breach. Selene first checked the power supply to the generator but didn’t find any problem there. These metal barrier generators were powered by an external energy source that was fed wirelessly from the outside. Theoretically, as long as the wireless
Incoming Storm
Shortly after, Trevor, leading a group of people consisting of guards and medics arrived by Selene side and immediately began cleaning up the scene. On spotting Selene leaning on one of the walls, sitting, Trevor quickly headed toward her with a few medics who began attending to her. But selene brushed them aside when they got close, instead instructing. “Leave me, I’m fine. First secure the subject and prepare him for relocation. I applied a strong sedative to him so he should be knocked out but don’t let your guard down. He is strong.” “It’ll be a problem if he manages to escape.” “Understood,” Trevor said. Then turning to the people he brought he quickly ordered. “Didn’t you hear what she said? Get moving.” At once, the guards quickly approached Cale, entering his cell after disabling the barrier, and secured him in a full body restraining mechanical harness resembling a straight jacket, leaving only his arms exposed. “Make sure to lock up his arms,” Selene suddenly sa
Cerule
A storm was quite literally brewing all over the fortress. The days following blessing day was usually accompanied by heavy rainfall, fierce gales and the rumbles of wild thunder claps. During this time, mana would continue to deep into the earth and perfuse throughout the sky providing a rich environment for growth. This period was a period of rapid growth and development for the newly awakened and a time of breakthroughs for older awakened. It was a time of jolly and splendor, yet, this time, a dark clouds hung over the fortress like a canopy, a solemn dread shrouding everything in gloom and despondency. Something was not right and many people instinctively sensed this. The fortress—this was the name most of its residents knew it by. Not many knew its true name, they were only aware of its purpose, the reason why it existed in the first place—as a home to protect all Ceruleans. The fortress is located in a realm called Cerule, a physical plane of existence that is very disti
Anomalous Source
The old man, now the focus of attention raised his sleepy eyes to look around at everybody whose gazes remained trained on him. Then, his eyes went back to look at the woman who had last spoken, staring at her contemplatively. Seeing as the old man did not respond immediately, someone asked, “Old Ludric, what is this about an anomalous source that you were put in charge of? Explain it to us.” After that person spoke, the old man finally responded. But he did not reply to the man’s question but instead addressed the woman from before. “How did Minister Bolovia know about this matter? As far as I know, it should be a secret known to only myself and the three administrators.” Minister Bolovia didn’t respond. She simply smiled while staring back at the old man. Sigh! Eventually, the old man sighed and shook his head before saying. “It doesn’t matter. Since the matter has been exposed I can only come clean and explain everything.” Old man Ludric didn’t want to delve into Mi
