War
It was called the fortress but this mega structure was the size of a small city. With over 70 kilometers of land area, the border of the fortress occupied over 10 kilometers of distance from the fortress walls almost of which was undeveloped land that served as a buffer zone between the fortress and the wild lands. The wild lands are what the Ceruleans referred to as the place beyond the control of the fortress. It is called this because savage exotic beasts and brutal faeries roamed the wilds contesting with the ceruleans for the resources it offered. Currently, in the western region of the fortress, a large watch tower existed overlooking the region. Standing at a height of 150 meters, the watch tower was situated inside a large military barracks that was 2 kilometers from the fortress walls where several soldiers garrisoned in preparation to guard the fortress from invasion. Right now, on top the fortress, a man stood at the highest point of the tower overlooking the regions
Beast Tide
The battle started with an opening salvo from the electromagnetic railgun. These silent death machines were the epitome of offensive force, the height of destructive capability that any machine not controlled by an awakened could achieve by relying slowly on its material. A single shot from a railgun could level a towering skyscraper with one shot and an array of railguns positioned strategically could cause severe damage to an entire city block. Naturally, ordinary exotic beasts that were only made of flesh and blood, before the might peak cerulean technology could not withstand it. Boom! Boom! Boom! The continuous fire of the electromagnetic railguns rang out like a death aria causing the earth to shake and rumble from the impact. Large clouds of dirt and dust were raised from the point of impact, shrouding the deathly roars and cries of beasts. This was just the beginning. Although the railgun was powerful, the number is exotic beasts was also numerous. It was impossible to re
Battlefront
Leading the charge at the very front of the beast tide, the three giant beasts swiftly approached the defense line of the fortress where the awakened awaited them. Within the controlled western border of the fortress, many fortifications had been put in place in preparation for just such an attack from invading forces. These fortifications ranged from electric spike traps to slow the speed of charging enemies, to illusory maze fields to confuse and scatter the enemy ranks and even high ordinance explosives that detonated when triggered to cull large swaths of enemies all at once, each of these fortifications served to dwindle enemy numbers before they arrived at the final battlefront under the constant fire of the electromagnetic railguns. Above the watch tower, Captain Whittaker observed the progress of the battle with an indifferent look. This not being the first exotic beast tide the fortress had faced, the captain was already familiar with dealing with them. The biggest advan
Battlefront 1
Among the three giant exotic beasts, the grizzly beast was definitely the strongest, yet the one that was the most troublesome to deal with was without a doubt the lion-like beast. Those thin hairs of its and their ability to control every single strand made its attacks unpredictable and hard to guard against. Not only were each strand of hair as thin as cobwebs but they were also incredibly resilient to ordinary attacks from blades and other conventional weapons. Only high-temperate weapons could damage the strands of hair but with so many of them in the beast's body, when they were bunched up together in a bundle, they could resist even these types of attacks and protect the main body from damage. Fortunately, the chargers were very effective in harassing and keeping the three giant exotic beasts occupied. The snake-like bird beast was entangled in the air by 20 chargers that flew around it from multiple corners and angles, raining down a storm of attacks on its body that caused
Battlefront 3
“Watch out!” An urgent call pierced through the loud din of noise on the battlefield warning an individual engaged fiercely with a group of exotic beasts. Hearing the warning, the person, a cerulean man wielding a large mechanical sword moved instinctively. He was currently in a physical tussle with a bipedal bull-like exotic beast with largely exaggerated horns that it used to charge and impale its targets. The sharp edge of the large mechanical sword was pressed against the exotic beast's horns as they competed to see who would lose in a battle of strength. At the same time, another exotic beast was attacking from the side, its flaming body charging toward the cerulean like a large ball of fire. The warning was about the second exotic beast charging at him. No longer bothering with the tussle, the cerulean man twisted the handle of his sword which was shaped like the handle of a motor bike. Vroom! A sound like the throttle of a vehicle being floored sounded as engine revvings b
Harambe
“Those damn beasts… useless, the lot of them!” Far behind enemy lines, the giant tree shook violently, its branches and leaves rustling in agitation and emitting psychic waves of rage, cursing its companions. The giant tree was enraged seeing the three giant beasts that were supposed to lead the exotic beast tide against the fortress held up by a bunch of lifeless contraptions. They had one job—just one job—to break through the little people’s silly fortifications and tear every obstacle in their path. Yet not to mention reaching the enemy’s camp, they hadn’t even gone far past the first obstacle when their progress was halted and they began to be played around like a fiddle. Watching the battle through its network of roots scattered all over the battlefield, the giant tree could ‘see’ the number of casualties occurring every single minute and it knew they were losing the battle. If things continued to progress as they were it would only be able to retreat in defeat without ac
Uncovered Scheme
After much deliberation, Captain Whittaker felt there was only one course of action to follow… that is to intervene personally. Only by taking action himself could he ensure that he could defeat the Harambe without any casualties on his side. But the captain wasn’t in a hurry to take action yet. His eyes observed the slow-moving Harambe before quickly shifting to the giant tree still remaining unmoved at the back. With the speed of the Harambe, it wouldn’t reach their defense line for some time. Plus due to the indiscriminate nature of its attack, the giant exotic beast was bound to cause a lot of casualties for its side. It was better to leave it, for now, to take care of some of the beast tides using its deadly fog so the number of enemies they had to face would reduce. But if the speed and method of attack of the Harambe was the reason it hadn’t moved in the first place, then for what reason was the giant tree still not moving at all? Captain Whittaker was very cautious. He
Awakened Army
The soldiers joining the battle tipped the scales of victory in favor of the ceruleans. While they had always had the advantage in this battle, the soldiers really hammered home this advantage, bringing with them a sweet scent of victory. Karla and her team had been fighting nonstop since the battle began and they were already starting to feel weary. In Karla’s team, apart from her, the was Bolin, Nene—the one with the large mechanical sword, Comb who was a midget, and Blanche, a middle aged woman with dark hair. Karla was a conjurer with the ability to create anything using her blood as a medium. The things she could create ranged from blades and knives to animals and beasts all of which she can control to launch attacks. She could also slightly manipulate the blood of her opponents, influencing their actions in ways that will benefit her during combat and after killing her opponent she can absorb their blood to increase her bodily strength and vitality. Bolin was an alchemis
Special Corps Unit
The Dawn Star Special Corps units was a special forces unit specializing in aerial warfare. Consisting of six members belonging to the order faction, they piloted a super small scale Dyson sphere that was about fifty meters in diameter that was painted a low golden copper hue reminiscent of of the rising dawn, hence the name. The unit was made up of three mechanics, two artillery gunmen, and a tactician serving as the leader of the unit. The super small scale Dyson sphere was a special creation of the military that needed the three mechanics to pilot it while also providing attribute boosts and enhancements to its performance while the artillery gunmen were responsible for operating the offensive capabilities of the sphere. Artillery gunman was a profession that focused on the manipulation of high power, high yield explosive ordinance like rockets, missiles, and powerful incendiary bombs. Their powers allowed the to increase the scope of such weapons, making them more lethal and
Special Corps Unit 1
The mecha charged at the grizzly beast, engine roaring like an ancient ferocious beast starving for violence. Its giant metal legs plowed the earth sending shockwaves and tremors spreading as it propelled itself forward. In a flash, the mecha was upon the grizzly beast hitting it with a powerful blow from its flaming fist. Bang! The sound of impact came as the mecha’s fist connected with the grizzly beast’s head. Caught off guard, it took the blow full on, unable to dodge. Like a pendulum, the grizzly beast’s head flew backward, its mouth opening lopsidedly as spittle escaped, flying everywhere. Following the momentum of its head, the body of the grizzly beast was also sent flying backward, its entire hulking mass eventually toppling over like stacked house of cards. Boom! The massive body of the grizzly beast fell into the ground causing a minor earthquake to spread into the distance. An unconscious groan escaped its lips due to the fall as its mind became dazed momentarily
