Armored Suit Fighter
As soon as Captain Whittaker made his move, the giant tree exotic beast in the distance immediately sensed it and its body began to rustle agitatedly in excitement.“Finally, that strong one amongst the little people is making his move. I’ve been waiting for you for so long.”The giant tree exotic beast was elated that its plan could finally proceed. All this time, it hadn’t done anything despite the unfavorable situation of the battle because it had been waiting for Captain Whittaker to take action and leave the watchtower.Long before the battle had started, when the beast tide had just arrived outside the border of the fortress, it had long sensed Captain Whittaker who was the strongest person currently in the entire western border defense force. The sensing ability of the giant tree exotic beast was the strongest among all of them and it worked by detecting the life aura of various individuals. The intensity of one’s life aura was determined by the strength of their mana and the i
Enemies Eradicated
The Harambe’s body was gelatinous with the ability to expand and contract freely giving it a certain spongy quality. All this added together made the exotic beast quite bouncy, able to leap great distance and initiate powerful attacks by launching itself like a super sized cannon ball. As powerful as this method of attack was, it wasn’t without major flaws. First of all, the attack was too basic and one-directional and the motions were easily telegraphed making it easy to predict where it would attack. Only by catching one off guard would there be a chance for the attack to succeed but if it failed then it wasn’t likely to ever succeed again. Another flaw was that it took a bit of time to prepare the attack before launching making it easy to avoid, plus, it wasn’t continuous meaning after one attack was initiated the Harambe could proceed with another by using the momentum of the previous attack to perform a continuous and relentless assault. In essence, it wasn’t much of a thre
Post Battle Cleanup
The beast tide arrived suddenly and also ended just as abruptly. Nobody expected things to go the way they did. In fact, until now, not many people were even aware that a battle had taken place and ended at the western border of the fortress. For those in the know, they were mostly filled with confusion about the entire debacle. Exotic beasts attacking the fortress wasn’t something new. It happened every other year with the last major attack occurring nineteen years ago. Usually, when a beast tide occurred, the scale was so large that the enemies making up the tide numbered upwards in the hundreds of thousands. That was a true beast tide, not this sorry excuse for an army. So that left the question… what exactly triggered this beast tide to occur especially so close after blessing day had just taken place? The answer to that question, only the higher-ups would know. As for the rest, if there was actually a reason then they definitely weren’t qualified to know it. Captain Whittak
Waking Up Again
Cale had a dream. In that dream he was standing on top a large city wall and everybody inside the city was bowing to him. But then, from the ground, a large fissure opened up and began swallowing everybody and everything into the belly of the earth. At the same time, the sky darkened with storm clouds as a massive thunderstorm brewed within which large bolts of lightning flashed sensing thunder rumbling explosively like the sky was furious and couldn’t wait to unleash its rage on him. Everything was terrifying and intimidating. It was as if Cale had provoked some ancient entity that should never be provoked and now it was coming to destroy him. The last thing Cale saw before waking up was a huge constellation of stars sitting a move the night sky that was illuminated by the light from the flashing lightning. Cale had only taken a single glance at the constellation when a black rift suddenly opened before him, blocking his view and sucking him who into the space on the other side
Truth Seeking Chamber
“Hmm, that's a very valid question,” Selene said after hearing what Cale asked. M “Yes, considering your situation, you who just awakened should be celebrating amongst family and friends after winning the world’s lottery and managing to change your fate. Instead of that, you wake trapped in a foreign place and are forced by unknown people to undergo unspeakable actions without knowing what your fate is going to be like. It is only natural that you would seek answers for the four most important questions in life: who, what, where, and why?” Having said all this, it looked like Selene was about to answer Cale’s question when she suddenly threw a curveball at him, knocking him down with incredulity. “Unfortunately, while your questions are pretty valid, I am under no obligation to answer them for you.” Hearing this last bit, Cale was left speechless, unable to process properly what exactly was going on. So after everything was said, you weren’t going to answer the question? Wha
Interrogation
“First question, is your full name Kaleb Blair Nike?” ??? Cale was confused, the question throwing him for a loop as he didn’t expect it at all. Cale’s silence caused Selene to frown prompting her to quickly say, “Answer the question.” Finally, Cale responded, “You guys kidnapped me aren’t you so you should know. Or do you think you’ve captured the wrong person?” Cale’s words irritated Selene forcing her to say, “Just answer the question that you’re asked, and don't try to be a smart ass. This is your last warning.” “Is your name Kaleb Blair Nike?” “Yes.” This time Cale answered directly much to Selene’s satisfaction who felt that gradually Cale was becoming compliant. As long as he was forced to respond to her under the threat of electrocution, eventually, Cale would willingly cooperate with her research and she wouldn’t have to worry about him or be on guard either. The shadow from the previous encounter still lingered in Selene’s mind, constantly reminding her of
Mind Reading
Cale waited in silence but didn’t hear anything else. Confused, he began to wonder if something had happened. It wasn’t until some time later that Selene’s voice sounded once again. “Alright, let’s continue. The next question is… when were you born?” Listening to Selene’s voice—which sounded a bit strange now—and hearing the simple but nonsensical question she asked, Cale shook his head secretly before answering. “I don’t know. The orphanage officially records my birthday as the 27th day of cancer which is when I was registered with the orphanage.” “Alright then next question. What is the name of your roommate and best friend in the orphanage?” “I didn’t have a roommate, at least there wasn’t only one. In the orphanage, we lived in dormitories so most of us shared the same sleeping area and we slept on bunk beds.” “I did have a bunk mate but the re were several that came and went too many times that I can’t remember all their names. And I didn’t have any friends in the orphanage
