Chapter Forty one: The Bait
Mr. Stark was still pondering about whether to be glad that he had become a Path one Elf when he saw something flash at the mouth of the cave.It seemed the creature which had taken care of the giant mosquitoes was still there. Obviously it was trying to get into the pit which he was inside. But somehow it had not still found its way there. It was as if it was bidding for something—or better still fighting another creature. But which creature would it be fighting? Mr. Stark thought within himself, his heart racing with fear. It was fear of the unknown. Here in the Garden of Eden things were very bizarre. And one would lose his life over carelessness. He couldn't be too careful down here.Just because I've become an Elf doesn't me that I'm powerful enough to face the forces down here, he thought within himself. Even Michael is having issues handling the forces down here much less me...He was still thinking when he heard several loud thuds followed by flashes of golden light. Then ther
Chapter Forty two: Clash With the Golem
The Shadow Realm was a cage of infinity. Grey mist rolled like dead oceans across a flat, endless floor that cracked beneath every step. There was no sky, no ground, only a suffocating veil where sound died quickly and sight felt deceived. Dimensions were nonexistent here, space a redundant concept. And within this boundless nowhere, the monster stood like a mountain given purpose. And standing some meters away from it was Gorven the Tall and Mr. Stark. The Path four Golem dwarfed the men before it. Its body was a fortress of jagged slabs, fused together by seems of molten gold that pulsed like veins carrying Cursed blood. The glow deepened with every breath it drew, light seeping out of cracks as if the stony shell could barely contain the wrath within. Its head was a blocky crown of rock, but its gaze—two blazing eyes of molten fire—stabbed through the haze with a cold intelligence no mere construct could possess.Every step it took was an earthquake. Dust trembled lose from its sho
Chapter Forty three: Victory At Last
The Golem growled lowly, glaring at Gorven and Mr. Stark with blazing eyes. Its preys who were supposed to be easily defeated were proven difficult to kill. In centuries of its life it had slain countless people who had come across it—Faes and humans alike. No one had been able to defeat it. And yet, only two puny humans here were given it so much trouble. It couldn't accept that outcome. Never."I. Will. Kill. You," it spat out the monotonic words which seemed to come deeply from the bowels of a machine. It was as if it was learning how to construct a sentence, even if it was very hard."I didn't know it can speak," Gorven smiled. "That's a very good development."Mr. Stark narrowed its eyes, "I don't know but something tells me that we should end this creature quickly before the battle escalates..."Weakening!The Golem pressed its hands together as it leaped towards the both of them. It then straighted out its right hand, causing a bow of light materialized."I... will... kill... y
Chapter Forty four: Reuniting with Family
Archangel Raphael and Daniel stood for some moments without saying anything. The silence hung in the air, weighing with a burdening truth. Just a few minutes ago several things had been revealed to Daniel. Things which he couldn't have known in a lifetime.Unlike before the Garden of Eden had quietened down. There were no more quakes resulting from battles between angels or Cursed. The atmosphere had become still—an unsettling peace lingering in the air.So the Primordial Wolf is not the hero I thought him to be, Daniel thought within himself. Crimson and Furs are really sly... once I get out of here I'll have to won Orpheus to be careful. He nearly became a vessel...He was still thinking when he got interrupted by Raphael clicking his tongue, "The previous cosmic battles that had occurred before—the one last year and ones from infinity past—they're going to be insignificant compared to what is going to happen in the future."An alarm bell struck within Daniel's soul, sending a cacop
Chapter Forty five: The Solution
The Curious Mythologists sat in utter silence around the table, their heads hung low. Like a chandelier, there was this atmospheric gloom which lingered around. Although they didn't speak, one could still feel the raging flicker of emotions beneath the noiselessness.Everyone, except for Daniel Stark, was present at the meeting. And it was a valid cause for the stygian unrest which they were all experiencing right now. Their leader was gone, vanished into thin air like a story which had lost its meaning.Several thoughts drifted in the hearts of the Curious Mythologists. Questions begging to be answered quickly. And these questions were all but the same: What happened to Daniel Stark? How did he suddenly vanish from Crimson Springs?Of course, no one was there to answer their dreadful questions or sooth their distressing hearts. And so they continued to bask in their harrowing thoughts. Finally, Orpheus coughed lightly, jolting them out of their intense thoughts. One by one, the droop
Chapter Forty six: Deadly Situation
Jackson Eden stood inside the room of a hotel which he had booked some days earlier. He was looking out of the window, his black eyes narrowed in focus. The sun was high up in the sky, looking down on the earth with its glorious shine. A babel of voices could be heard outside the hotel, people striding about the street without care for one another. They had countless things to do. There were a few who trudged across the street, their expression empty and appearance shabby.Jackson paid attention to all the details around him. He was still wanted by the government so he had to be very careful. He could feel the soft caress of the wind behind his neck. But somehow, he felt very hot. After all, this operation he was about to undertake would turn out to be the most dangerous of them all. He was going to infiltrate the Dwayne Manor and steal a very powerful Cursed ingredient."I still don't know why I'm doing this," he mused to himself. "I mean, you're the Angel of Darkness... Creating som
Chapter Forty seven: Act of Negotiation
Jackson was spewed abruptly out of the portal. Covered by bone spikes, he braced himself for another incoming attack. But none came. There was no one around. He gained control of his body, doing multiple flips till he landed on the ground. There was not a single sound from the landing impact. As a Doppelganger he had a body coordination beyond anything one could imagine. He looked around, trying to figure out where he was. He was standing in an abandoned building which was empty. Puffs of dust danced all around him, cobwebs swaying gracefully to the wind. The smell of copper drifted into his nostrils. It was metallic, like blood. His muscles were instantly pulled taut. Blood. This was the smell of blood. His instincts told him that there was danger. He looked around every spot intently. But there was no sign of blood. Not even a single stain. It seemed as an unknown person had washed off the blood. Despite this, the smell still lingered."Where am I?" he muttered to himself as he took
Chapter Forty eight: Collective Operation
"I should contact Uriel?" Jackson could not believe his ears. His eyes moved between Orpheus, Evil Buddha and Crying God suspiciously."Yes," Orpheus replied. "We need his help right now. We wouldn't have made contact with you if it wasn't a matter of life and death.""You mean, you wouldn't have attacked me?" Jackson asked. The trio stared at each other without responding. They needed Jackson's consent in order to speak with the Archangel. If it was up to them, they wouldn't have contacted Jackson at all. The 17 year-old teenager had already gone through a lot, losing his father in this dark world."We're sorry for attacking you," Evil Buddha took over, seeing that the kid was waiting for an apology. Orpheus was too arrogant to apologize while Crying God was amused. So it fell on his shoulders.Jackson threw a contemptuous glance at Orpheus and Crying God. "Those two don't seem sorry at all.""Believe me, they do," Evil Buddha glanced at the duo. "It's just that we're going through a
Chapter Forty nine: "I Came With My Gang"
A heavy silence lingered within the antic hall. The two Doppelgangers stared at each other, neither taking any action. Their figures were reflected on the marble floor and walls."You've been cornered," Dan finally broke the silence. "There's no way you're going to escape."Jackson smiled. "How are you sure about that?"Dan narrowed his eyes. He wasn't sure about that. Earlier, this young Doppelganger had been captured by an unknown assailant. He had expected that whoever had captured Jackson would keep him for a long period of time. Who would have thought that the Shadow would somehow be released?Did he escape or was he released on purpose? The Dwayne family's private bodyguard asked himself. The shadows continued dancing around him, causing his expression to turn colder. It was as if he was a god of darkness on earth. If Jackson had being other Cursed, he would have been scared out of his wits. But he was an Archangel vessel—he had seen things scarier than this."Then I'm going to
Chapter Fifty: Wings of an Angel
Jackson found himself standing in front of a large building. It was painted red, a sign at the top of the gigantic bronze door which read: "The Museum."He noticed something odd about his surroundings. There wasn't any living or nonliving thing, except for the bloody fog. It shrouded the entire place, reducing visibility to zero. Jackson was surprised how he could see the building in front of him."Go ahead," a familiar voice drilled into his ears. It was filled with aloofness and disgust. It was then, that Jackson was reminded how he got here and why. The Curious Mythologists—they were the ones who had brought him here. Or else, the Twilight would have captured or killed him."Where the hell am I?" Jackson spun swiftly and glared at Orpheus. He seemed to be the current leader of the Curious Mythologists."Consequently, you're in the Museum," Orpheus replied with glee. He disliked Jackson so much—the Shadow had turned a blind eye to his close friend's disappearance."The Museum?" Jac
