Fickle Words
Two days later…The internet which had been in an uproar due to Daven’s assault was now calm. However, it wasn't the same when Daven finally stepped into college again. He was different, the clothes he wore was high end. He had made sure to splurge right after taking a rest with Doctor Blackman. His hair was sleeked back stylishly and he could compete with any hot boy in school. The saying that money would change a person was definitely in play here. And while he walked down to his destination, the people around pointed at him in awe. “Isn’t that Daven? The pauper!” “He was on the news recently! That boy managed to force the West Family and Gerald to bow!”“Yeah, I saw it! That was impressive. Maybe we should make him our friend!” The once overlooked scrawny and timid boy was now being put on a high pedestal. However, Daven didn't pay any heed to their words as he had a lot in stall for him. That day was going to be fully packed. He walked, with his head high, his gaze straight,
It's A Misunderstanding
Everyone waited with bated breaths, scrutinizing eyes on Daven, wondering whether he was going to bow. They hated the fact that he lied to them, and swept them off their feet only to be a pathetic greedy person. “You have to beg!”“How dare you covet wealth? Paupers like you should know their place.” Those words kept coming, Daven took a deep breath, his eyes dimming by the minute. Arya stared at him, looking very victorious. She knew there was no way Daven was getting away with this. And she even went ahead to say…“You know brother, Gerald even forgave you for stealing from him and his mother. Shouldn’t you have the right conscience to apologize to him?” Her words again sent an uproar through the crowd. “He is a thief!”“His sister confirmed it!” “No wonder the charges against him weren’t broadcast on the internet. This Daven is really sly.” “Gerald and the West family are really generous!” “What do you have to say now, Daven?” Chris grinned, his eyes twinkling. They felt th
New College Identity
“Daven!” Ari’s voice could be heard from afar as Daven approached the school building to meet up with Doctor Blackman. He halted, scrunching his face up in dislike when he turned to look at his friend.Ari was gasping, breathless as he reached Daven. “You…”“I told you to wait at the spot. We agreed to meet up!” Ari stared at him accusingly. “Well, I have to meet up with someone.” Daven looked sorry but not remorseful. “Well, it’s fine.” Ari straightened up, waving his hand. “Did you like my work? I did the job perfectly like you asked me.” He said as he jumped around Daven like a child. “You owe me one again.” “Yes.” Daven didn't dispute. He was really grateful to Ari. “I sent some money to you. It’s for your help.”“Really?” Ari whipped out his phone, in disbelief. He also wondered just how much Daven could have sent to him. Their friendship couldn't be quantified as they had gone through hurdles together. But when he stared at the bank notification on his phone, his eyes almos
Systemic Body Technique
“Thirty minutes…” Daven’s heart plummeted. How could he do that in such a short while? It would take a long while to get Gerald off Elena before he would even be able to assess her. From the look of things, she was already on her last thread.“You are here…” Gerald’s voice echoed in the pitch as everyone went quiet. The smile that came after, was eerie, one that depicted the evil he had in mind.“Let her go.” Daven wasn't in the mood to play his games. He was more concerned about the girl. “What if I don’t?” Gerald tilted his head. “You want to be the savior so bad, and that’s why you are here. Why don’t you come close? Come take her from me.”“Do you dare?” Time was ticking, a glance at his wristwatch told Daven he had 25 minutes left. He was confident in his ability to subdue Gerald but what if the bastard had something else in stall for him? Even though he couldn't stall, it would show he was afraid, and in the end, he would fail his mission. “Is this how you want to do it?” D
Rise From The Ashes
His life force?Daven froze at the sound of that. Of course, it sounded scary as if he was giving up his life. But then, it had a deeper meaning. A part of his life force could mean a lot of things that he didn't even know. The System didn't specify anything else. Was he going to die? Or was his years going to be cut short? As he stood there, the men closing in on him, he didn't know whether to say yes or not. Time was ticking, Elena was dying and with the look on Gerald’s face, the bastard wanted him dead that very day. “Are you suddenly powerless now, Daven?” Gerald’s voice resounded in the pitch. “I have won, haven’t I?”Of course, it looked like he had won. How would just one man defeat ten men with steel bars?“I am going to complete what I started! You should have died that very day and you won't be here standing up to me!” [Are you taking the offer, Daven King?] “System–”Bang!A steel bar hit him on the back of his head. His body flung across the center of the pitch and h
Would She Die Or Not?
Honk!!Honk!!!A car drifted right before Daven, and the window was wound down smoothly.“Hop in. We can get there quickly with my car.” The unknown face behind the steering wheel offered help Daven didn't hesitate to take. As soon as they got Elena in the car, Daven made sure to stabilize her breathing. However, it was still too far from saving her. All the while, Ari looked at Daven in wonder, wondering how he knew just what to do. Even though he had questions, he didn't get to ask since they quickly pulled up into the hospital and went straight to the emergency area. “What happened?” The nurses asked as they rushed to get Elena.“She ruptured her spleen,” Daven answered immediately which caused everyone there to halt. “What? How do you know that?” “I just know.” He insisted. “She was beaten up and she ruptured her spleen. She is bleeding internally and you need to save her. Remove her spleen if possible.”“You can’t just say that…” The nurses weren’t ready to believe Daven. “I
No Video Evidence
Daven was paraded out of the hospital with the officers flagging his side. A few students had also gathered outside the building as they had seen the police officers entering. News of how Daven defeated Gerald and the ten men had spread throughout the school and even though it was an act of self-defense, the men had fallen into critical conditions. But even with the people gathered around to watch, Daven remained neutral, a blank look, not one that mirrored fear or shock but one that mirrored nothing. It was as if he was taking a stroll with the officers and his confidence shocked everyone. Even Doctor Blackman had tried to advocate for his student but he was quickly reassured by Daven that nothing could go wrong. The utmost trust in the System he had in his body made him confident. He was sure that the system wouldn't make him or give him something that would put him in jeopardy!Thirty minutes later…In a dark interrogation room, Daven sat behind a small desk as pictures of Gera
Failed Mission
Even after several rounds of questioning directed at the officers, they still claimed they arrested Daven due to the report they got from the college students. None of them was ready to admit that someone gave them the silent push to take Daven without proper investigation. However, Ari had seen through it all but he had no more time to waste, as he wanted to get Daven out as soon as possible. “Can you let my friend go now?” He asked. “He will be let go.” The officer nodded. “But before then, I have to conduct my own little investigation. If Daven King is concluded really innocent, we will let him go.”Those words displeased Ari too much, but he didn't want to argue further. After all, it seemed like the officer before him was a bit trustworthy. “But can I see him?” Ari asked. “There is something I need to say to him.”The officer looked at Ari with a suspicious gaze before giving his nod of approval. “You have ten minutes…” The door to the interrogation room was opened and Ari
The First Price And The Punishment
Daven’s heart dropped to the pit when he heard of the punishment. Of course, he didn't save Elena with his hands, after all, he didn't keep up with time. But the grievances in his heart couldn't be contained. “Why…” He let out, his breath harsh and ragged. “Why would you give me a mission I wouldn't be able to fulfill? Did you expect me to barge into the hospital and perform surgery on her without a license?”[Every mission given to you, is for a purpose! To be ahead of your peers and for you to learn from!][The levels of the Medical System will always be available to you!] The System’s answer successfully shut Daven up but then he realized that until he worked harder to become a certified medical doctor, he would sometimes fall short. The System wasn't giving him information and knowledge on a platter of gold, he had to work for it. But there was still one more thing, his punishment. What more did the system want from him? After all, a part of his life force was already taken.
Weakness And Humiliation
The stretcher wheeled Daven’s frail body right out of the police station. However, as he slowly saw the light, his body regained strength, however, the weakness from losing the system’s ability was still there. Going to the hospital was going to do him no good and so, he tapped on the stretcher as he was about to be placed into the ambulance. “Hello, Mr, do you need anything?” The paramedics asked as they saw him struggling to sit up. “I don’t need anything. I am fine.” Slowly, he held his head, sitting up on the stretcher. His back was caved in, as his body slowly adjusted to the weakness. “You don’t look fine...” The paramedics refused. “Why don’t we check you for a bit right here…”They quickly rallied around Daven, checking his pulse and heart rate. He looked weak, yes but when they checked his stats, he was very normal. “I am fine, right?” Daven groaned, putting his legs on the floor, so he could stand upright.“Yes, but you can’t leave yet—”“Let him go.” The detective’s vo
