“Get over here! Fishtail!” The school’s quarterback roared as he bounced the ball hard on the floor of the indoor football pitch. His finger pointed straight at the timid boy scurrying around the pitch.
“Yes…” Daven rushed forward, bowing slightly. He was a klutz, carrying a sweeper, a bin, and several other things in his hands. “Do you need me to do something, Gerald?” “Do you have any other use here?” Gerald snickered, mockingly and the other players burst out laughing. Daven closed his eyes, breathing heavily as he struggled to keep bowing and holding things together. “If it’s for us here, you wouldn't even be able to survive here in school.” Another player snarled and in the next second, Daven got a kick in his butt. Bang! His body flew forward, straight at Gerald’s feet. His eyes turned dizzy and misty due to the pain that shot through his body. The items he carried, were scattered all around and before he knew it…bang! The bin he held, was thrown straight at his head. “Hmm…” Daven groaned in pain, his heart, stopping just to process the pain he felt. He dared not cry out loud as not only was he hurt physically, he was hurt emotionally. He was poor, and he found it so hard to sustain himself in school. Added to that, he had to take care of his sick father back at home. He had no other choice but to work as an errand boy for Gerald and his underdogs. But they never treated him like a human, he was their thrash, punching bag, and servant. They made it so hard for him to get another job even as a part-timer elsewhere because Gerald was rich and he wanted to keep Daven below him. “Get up!” Gerald sent a kick straight at Daven’s stomach. He almost coughed up due to how painful it was, but he quickly suppressed his pain and stood upright. “Yes, Gerald…” He bowed, staying in that position. “Take this!” Gerald threw a 50 dollar bill straight at him and then a pile of stinking socks. “Ohh…” Daven never expected the smell that came with the socks and he couldn't help but stagger. However, his action was offensive to Gerald. “You…” Gerald grabbed him by the shoulder, shoving him toward the wall. “You think my socks smell? Have you smelled yourself?” Daven being shoved to the wall, slipped to the floor, his butt landing hard. He quickly bowed his head, “I am sorry, I didn’t mean it that way…” “Shut up!” Gerald snarled. “You smell like rotten fish! With that sister you walk with on the campus, I wonder if you both live in a dead fish’s belly!” Gerald’s words caused Daven to fist his hands in fury. Mentioning his sister was crossing the line and he wanted to punch Gerald straight in the face. However, looking at all the underdogs around, he knew not to be rash, or else he would find himself in a hospital bed the next minute. “I am sorry…” He whispered. “Good.” Gerald turned around to leave. However, his underdogs stepped forward, throwing their socks straight at him. They all had stinking socks and Daven wondered how well they took care of their bodies. Soon, he was covered in socks and 50-dollar bills while they all filed out of the football pitch. Daven sat there, his heart bleeding. Every day, he had to endure insults toward him and his family and he wondered, when would he stop continuing to take everything. He needed to fight back, but he dared not to. His sister was at stake. He slowly stood up, taking up the bills, and as he counted, he knew what he had to do with the money. His father’s medicine…his sister’s upkeep… Just at that moment, he heard a loud cry… “Ahh…” A shrill female voice rang out and Daven’s head snapped up. He wasn't surprised about that cry as Gerald would always have girls over in the player’s rest area but this time, it felt weird. The cry wasn't a pleasurable one, it was filled with pain. “Please…” The cry came again and then it was muffled. The girl was definitely pleading for help and as Daven stood there, he contemplated what to do. It was a different thing when he endured bullying and pain but knowing he could do something to help a person, and he didn't, would haunt him. This time, he didn't mind getting into Gerald’s trouble, he rushed straight to the rest area which was deserted. He went straight toward the bath area and drew the thin curtain aside. “Ahh…” Daven’s eyes widened and he gasped in shock. He couldn't breathe as he staggered backward. “Maya?” He gasped again, looking at his girlfriend’s naked body with blood dripping down her thighs.

“You really own this place?” Elena had to ask, as she beheld the beautiful ambiance of the house. It was a very comfortable place for a student to stay in, but of course, she was going to question this reality. “Yes.” Daven nodded.“How?” She raised her brow. As far as she knew, she knew he wasn't a rich guy. Or did he lie to Ari all this time?Daven scratched his head and Ari looked away quickly because he had no answer either. But she continued to probe, “How did you get all this money to get a house and then a car? I know it’s not in my place to ask, but I will be living here for a while. I need to know if we are all safe.”“Yes.” Daven nodded, his eyes holding her gaze to reassure her. “I assure you, I do not engage in any form of fraud and I pay my taxes regularly. You don’t need to worry.”Elena pursed her lips, her eyes intently searching his. Daven was a reliable man, she knew that but she could never know what was in his heart. A Harsh Slap To The Face
“Of course, I do. Don’t you want to become affiliated with me?” The old man asked, staring keenly at Daven. “I would love to.” Daven didn't dare say otherwise, but still, he wasn't about to throw his pride away. “However, I may have to decline your kind gesture. Thank you so much for holding me in such high esteem.”Old man West went calm and instead of being offended, he was very pleased and proud of how principled Daven was. He realized the young man was reliable and he was even more determined to keep their relationship longer. “I understand you.” Old Man West nodded. “However, if you need anything at all, in this country. Do not hesitate to reach out to me.”“I appreciate your kind gesture.” Daven broke into a genuine smile and bowed slightly. He felt the old man was really wise and the secret of his system ability would be kept a secret. Soon, he was led out of the mansion and as he stepped out, he saw an alert of $20 million! A smile broke out on his face seeing that the old
The New Grandson
“You must be out of your fucking mind, Daven!” Lady West cut in, her chest heaving. “How the hell did you even get in here?”“That’s enough, Maria.” the patriarch cautioned, however, she wasn't about to let go. “Father, you can’t be deceived by that boy!” She warned as she walked back to him. Her eyes stared at him pleadingly. “Deceived?” He chuckled. “Daven has proven himself before me. It’s you who is so blind to see his potential.”“How can you let someone who is clearly against your daughter into the house when you wouldn't even let your grandson in?” She yelled. Her eyes were red, and a sharp glint of displeasure flashed in them. The patriarch took a pause, his hands fisting beside him. “Do not mention that good-for-nothing to me anymore.” He pointed sharply at her, and alarm bells were already ringing in Lady West’s ears but she chose to ignore it. “You don’t get it, do you? Gerald is your grandson!” Lady West was distressed, and she had totally forgotten about the outsider
A Mystery He Had To Unravel
Daven followed the patriarch into the mansion and they walked into the study where the incident had happened. The blood was still all over, evidence of the injury the old man had sustained. However, the patriarch went past it and sat at his table, his legs crossed over. He stared at Daven with meaningful eyes, wondering where he had encountered the young man before.“You are injured. You should treat yourself.” He pointed at the first aid box which had been left lying around. Daven darted his eyes suspiciously from the box to the blood and then to the old man, wondering if he was not going to say anything. He was deliberately ignoring the obvious and Daven was going to keep it that way until the matter was tabled. He got to the first aid box and brought out a few things to treat himself as the old man watched keenly. “You and I know what happened, right?” The patriarch finally spoke up and Daven froze. However, he only pursed his lips and didn't say a word to the patriarch. “I wa
No Fear Of Death
Daven moved like a flash, catching the sharp end of the knife in his hand and it dug deeply into his palm, his blood dripping heavily. “You dare stand in our way!” The man who had appeared all of a sudden barked. He looked just like the muscular man from earlier and it was obvious they worked together. He dragged the knife right out of Daven’s hand and was about to stab him in the face once again when Daven pulled back. He had no patience left to fight this man and so, he ran into the room he had approached earlier, and as soon as he got in, he opened his mouth in shock. The servants from earlier who had attended to him were huddled up inside. Some had gotten injured and their blood spilled all over the room. “Shit!” Daven cursed as he realized this was a full-blown attack on the entire West mansion. An influential family such as this was attacked! In just a few minutes he arrived, they had all been besieged! “Save us!” They all cried, right on their knees with their hands clas
Did I Kill Someone?
Daven couldn't go down! Never!Even though this man was way stronger than him, he would do everything he could to defeat him. Before the punch could land on his face, he dodged to the side, catching the man off guard. The muscular man lost balance in that moment and staggered forward to the wall, while Daven quickly ran toward the door. As soon as he got in, he locked the door with a snap of his fingers. He let out a deep breath before slowly turning around to see that he was in a study room with a strong smell of blood. He jumped the moment he saw the patriarch’s body right on the floor with a bloody knife by his side. The old man clutched his stab wound, breathing heavily like he was about to take his last breath. “Shit!” Daven cursed and quickly rushed to him. On the other hand, the muscular man kept banging on the door. The door’s hinges shook like it was going to fall out in seconds. “Are you okay?” Daven asked the old man whose eyes had turned into slit, life slowly slippi
