Elijah on rampage
Kick! Gbam! The door of a conference room burst open, slamming against the wall. The sheer force at which the door swung open startled the people seated in a conference room. Seated behind polished desks were a few titled students of Alvin University and few other important lecturers engrossed in deep meetings with the school president, Clinton Kenneth when suddenly someone barged into the hall. Elijah matched forward, his breath shallow and ragged, his hand swung in the air, swiftly and stiffly like a soldier on a mission he must not fail to go. Things were about to get really messy. Clinton Kenneth's head swung to the direction of the door to see the Putz who had the effrontery to barge in like a mad dog. He sat behind a desk in his power and might as the Almighty school president. Clinton is power, connections, and authority, cladded in a Navy blue suit and a grey tie around his neck. Some of the students had jolted up from their seats after a shocking and sudden entry. Ev
Double bombshell at the headquarter.
Students still lurking on the neat and trimmed hayfield of Alvin University clustered the police vehicles, not too close, everyone watching as the policemen escorted Elijah into the vehicle. He didn't struggle with them, whispered from students followed behind, each one leaving a negative remark about him. But he was too hurt to cure or maybe he's just used to it The whirring of the siren continued to fade in the air as the Vehicle drove away and slowly, the students dispersed like smoke with some still hanging around. Downtown, at the police station headquarters, Elijah stepped out of the vehicle and he was led into an interrogation room for investigation. The soft glows of the room reflected on the reflecting end– to– end glass wall. Elijah sat behind a long desk, his elbow rested on the verge and head bowed like someone grieving his loss. Elena's betrayal. If he hadn't seen the video and Dave had only witnessed the scene with no footage as evidence, Elijah would have called hi
Bitter consequences.
The words; “I don't love you” It was like a thunderous smack on Elijah's face that got all his teeth evicted from the gum. He couldn't speak for some moment. The weight of her words hung in the air like a lead weight tied to a slim thread, dangling over his head and waiting to shattered him completely. “What..what are you talking about, Elena?" Elijah finally found his voice, stuttering the words. His gaze was locked on Elena, looking into her eyes searchingly. Disbelief. Elena sighed, tiredly already. She waved her hand. “C'mon Elijah. Stop acting like you don't know what I'm talking about. Me and you, we can't work. In fact, we never existed. I'm done.” Elena fired, not blinking. Elijah blinked, his eyes filled with horror as if he had just heard a death sentence. “You..never loved me.” His voice cracked under the weight of her confession but it was slowly steadied as he continued. “Was it all because of that old man?! Was it?!” He said, pointing his finger blindly. Elena sco
The restriction letter
Elijah's hand was shaking, tears blurred his eyes, threatening to spill down like a fountain of water. His lips were shaking. It parted to utter some words. At least just a word but his voice failed him. He blinked back the tears, looking at the restriction letter again. Failure! Yes, failure! His career is over. Tomorrow marks the beginning of their final year examination– a fleeting step away from graduation. Meaning he'll not be writing the final examination since he had been restricted. An extra year, extra toiling, extra year of going to lecture rooms on an empty stomach and all in all, it'll be a thing of embarrassment repeating another year with the juniors when he should have graduated with his colleagues. He'll be mocked. More cruel than before. Loving Elena had costed him a lot. His time, his sweats and his little tokens which she doesn't even appreciate. And now? His career. His life! The weight of everything shattered on his head. Looking down to the paper again,
Cinema in the street
Elijah froze in place. The city was still buzzing but the cacophonies faded in Elijah's ear. He blinked. "Mum?” The words barely formed out of his mouth— disbelief and confused. Maybe the scammers want to use his emotions against him after their first attempt didn't work out. Because he's just an orphan. He has no parents. No family and just one friend, Dave. Elena who was his girlfriend had just broken up with him. “Yes, son..it's mum..it's your mother.” The voice of the women trembled. Elijah Heard her sniffing. Probably she's shedding tears too. Elijah gulped hard. Nothing was making sense. His confusion deepened like an old dried well. The woman continued with the shaky voice, her emotions spilling with each word she utters. “Can...can you just stay there son.. please, stay there...I'll send people to take you.” He said and the line went dead. With a racing heart— confusion and curiosity, the phone slipped from his ear. He tried to make sense out of the call he just answere
Who is Queen Emilia?
Power, authority, fame and prominence isn't measured by Decibel but then this— The striking escorts, chrome accent cars that seem to be sculpted out of gold, each one gleaming under the streetlight, catching the attention of onlookers and stealing it. The atmosphere seems to split. Literally. The street was quiet with everyone watching the fascinating reality in shock. The woman on the second floor almost collapsed as shock pulsed a tremor through her heart. Her knee buckled under the weight of disbelief that crushed on her. She held the railings for support. The boy they called a beggar earlier. The same boy who they bathe with murky water. They're.. they're escorting him like a king. Like some kind of celebrity or a monumental Politician on decoy. Ben himself opened the door of the Maybach gls 680 for Elijah. He bowed gently and stood behind the gilded door, waiting patiently for his master to enter. Elijah paused. Reluctance flickered in his eyes but then..his emotions warre
The woman who called him son
Elijah stood at the threshold, jaw slacked and eyes wide. The foyer...Damn! Looks like a paradise that fell to earth. Every little thing that eyes caught speaks of detailed wealth— luxury. The marble floor glistened under the soft glows from crystal chandeliers and glistening oval bulbs that fixed to the wall like it originally belonged there just like the moon, staring into the earth from the sky. The wall, painted white is an art on its own and it displayed other arts; portraits of men who Elijah didn't know decorated the wall to the end. A lush curtain, creamy and moderately designed, hung down from the top of the windows. A 325 inch plasma TV flattened on the fall, glowing colourful light that caught quick attention. And on the floor seated Cream coloured leather, inviting someone to sit. Elijah swallowed hard. His saliva literally dried in his throat. If he's going to be killed here then he'll gladly put his body on the platter to get killed in this house of wealth. It is
Tearjerker narration
“Your father is Chinese.” Queen Emilia started the tearjerker. The story which brought back painful and sad memories she had tried to erase from her memory but it always pieced up— fresh and painful. Chinese? Dave had always told him he has some phenotypical traits of a Chinese guy; his almond shaped eyes with moderate epicanthic fold, straight dark eye brow and his straight nose; Dave's observation. “Your father, Kai, was born into a cruel clan from China called Jang–Jang.” She continued, settling onto the bed while Elijah was on his feet, curiosity gleaming in his eyes like a child who couldn't wait to taste an ice cream for the very first time. He was a bit confused. “But, my surname is Everest. It's not Chinese.” Queen Emilia nodded gently in agreement. “That was after your father's family tried to kill you because of a gruesome custom which they called Shou Zi sacrament." Elijah's face dropped. The woman, his mother continued calmly but the deep emotion effused from her
Prince now, king later.
Elijah froze at the spot in shock. No, this couldn't be real. That freaking amount. Is it even real! He had never heard anyone call such an amount before in his face before but his mother— She just called did it...No, she handed it to him in a smart card like it was nothing....like it was just a peasant amount! $10 million dollars?! Not even in his wildest and fantasical hallucination had he imagined such a heavy amount. Hell, that amount is some people's salary for 10 years! Now, it was just an upkeep for him? The calm way his mother pronounced the amount as though it was just nothing...She didn't even blink..her voice didn't hitch. It was still, calm and smooth like plastic fiber, velvet like silk. He imagined and even wondered how much more his mother has..his family's net worth, if $10 million dollars can be given out just like a piece of paper for just upkeep! Seeing the look of awe in his eyes, Queen Emilia smiled at him. But she suddenly frowned slightly, mistaking Elij
His original life
A gentle knock on the door was what woke Elijah. The small knocking sound was a sharp reminder of his old loud apartment. The landlord, an old man in his late fifties would kick the door open even at late night just to collect the house rent. People call it a slum, some call it ghetto while some prefer to call it Street. Regardless, It was no place of peace. It is the kind of environment where people sleep with one eye open— Alert. Thugs in the neighborhood, street hustler and late night gambler disturbing the weary night with loud music from the casino. Burglars used those loud moments to operate in the hood. Elijah's button phone was stolen through the window of his room. He woke up the next morning only to see the blind covering the window ripped and his phone gone. Hence— This was the first night that gave him a beautiful sleep. And the bed? It was different from the rocky cradle at the corner of his chipped apartment. As he sat up in a navy blue night wear, his butt sank i
