Chapter 51Sometimes not knowing is actually much better than knowing the truth. I walked out of my father's room with a lot on my shoulder. I just felt my workload doubled or should I say tripled. As I walked, I noticed Ren as Park was training. They both looked at me wondering why I was absent minded. “ Is he alright?” Ren asked, staring at Park who didn't understand why I was the way I am.“ I don't know,” Park replied as he removed his hand pad. They both walked towards me and sat down right in front of me. “ What did he show you?” Park asked.“ Is it that bad?” Park asked again, seeing the look on my face. “ Honestly, I don't know where to start,” I replied looking at their faces. “ You need to start from somewhere boy.” Leo’s voice boomed from where he was seated. He dropped his spectacles on the table and looked towards me. “ Do you think any of this is going to be easy? It is a cycle and I am sorry that it has already started.”“ You mean I walked into all of this without havi

Chapter 52Leo’s eyes met mine, calm yet unyielding. “I am not threatening you, Adrian,” he said, his voice carrying that same eerie calm that made my skin crawl. “But you need to understand that there are consequences to walking away. Not just for you, but for everyone around you.”I scoffed. “Oh, now I’m responsible for everyone else’s lives too?”Ren stood quietly, arms crossed, a concerned expression on his face. Park, on the other hand, looked like he was ready to punch something—or someone.Leo folded his arms. “You think this is just about you inheriting some company or fulfilling your father’s legacy? No. This is bigger than you, bigger than all of us. There are forces out there, Adrian—men who are waiting for the slightest opportunity to wipe out everything your father stood for. And if you leave now, you’ll hand them the key.”“ What the hell are you talking about? What key? I didn’t ask for any of this!” I snapped. “I never asked to be anyone’s legacy or shield. I was happy

Chapter 53 The school buzzed with different activities as usual. The examination was fast approaching, and it was towards the end of the year. “ Let's play this smart. If you see anything that seems out of the ordinary, you need to let me know.” I looked at Park. “ Be safe,” Park replied, walking to his department. I looked around once more, making sure I was safe. Ever since the fight between Nathan and me, I have been a little wary of how I approached things. But with everything my father left behind, I don't see any reason why I should be anymore. What I needed to do the most was draw Nathan's father out of his shell. I have seen him only once, but then drawing him out was supposed to be quite easy. I met some of Nathan's goons by my locker as I approached the hallway. I also noticed some of them were on my tail. I didn't flinch; I kept walking until I reached my locker, which was blocked by one of them. “ Nathan would like to see you at the manor.” “ And why would I listen to

Chapter 54 “ You promised! You said you were going to protect us? Was that a lie too?” Damien said with anger. “ You need to calm down and let me fix this,” I said slowly, looking at Damien.“ You are being unreasonable at the moment, dude. Do you even see the state he is in?” Park looked at Damien and back at me. “ Can't you see he needs to see the nurse?” “ I don't care who he has to see. If my father is thrown out of the school, then I am coming for you!” Damien shouted at me and walked away. My gaze landed on Park, and I could see it in his eyes. Yes, I told you so. I was about to get to the nurse's office when I saw Sophia walking towards us. She had the same scarf tied around her neck. “ Don't…” Park said immediately he saw the look on her face. “ You should stop trying to play the hero all the time.” “ What if this might help us? We can tell the cops that Nathan is a woman beater, and the rest can be brought to light. “ It seems you have forgotten Nathan's father has many

Chapter 55Park nodded slowly, his brows furrowing in thought. “I can try. Nathan’s not exactly subtle. His little army of bootlickers practically parades around the campus as they own it. If they’re moving anything shady, I’ll sniff it out.”I adjusted the bandage around my ribs and winced as a sharp pain shot through my side. “Good. We don’t have much time.”Park held open the door for me as we stepped out of the nurse’s office. The hallway was quiet, unusually so, considering the usual bustle of students. I caught a glimpse of Jessica turning a corner, her phone pressed to her ear, her voice hushed. My gut twisted.“I don’t trust her,” Park muttered, catching my gaze. “She’s too invested in all this. And she’s always a step too close to Nathan.”“She’s playing both sides,” I said, my voice low. “Trying to stay relevant no matter who wins.”“Classic survival tactic,” Park replied with a scoff. “She’s just betting on the side with more power.”I stopped at my locker and opened it sl

Chapter 56 The throbbing pain of my stomach woke me up. My eyes darted around the black room and I could see some boys around my age tied down just the way I was. “ Pssst!” I whistled to the big in front of me. He was looking pale and tired. Almost exhausted from hunger. He looked like he was thirsty and wanted some water. “ Where are we?” I whispered but he simply turned away without looking at me. “ Hello. What is happening? What is going on?” I asked again but none of them answered me.I felt scared and I started regretting that I didn't tell Leo what I was planning. I looked around and I could see a small window where a gentle air came in. I coughed slightly as I tried to wiggle out of my chains. “ I would advise you to save your strength. If you think you can get out of that then you are wasting your time.” The voice said looking at me and I immediately stopped wiggling. “ You should have stayed out of his way.” The boy said again “ You mean Nathan?” I asked, trying to catch

Chapter 57 I felt my heart jump. I quickly said a silent prayer, hoping it was Ren or Park, but when the door opened, my face was sullen, and I wished the ground would just cave underneath me. “ Little Adrian, were you hoping it was Park? Oh, little kitten. You are trapped in here, and nobody is going to save your sorry ass.” Nathan said, smiling. “ You know, I have always wondered if you were truly an opponent for me. You had the name, and all of a sudden, boom. You think you can steal my spotlight?” Nathan said with a jest on his face. “ You should have dropped out. Leave and don't try to antagonise me, but instead, you want to show you are the boss. Why don't you call your friend Park to rescue you, since you think you are the boss?” I couldn't say a word. I kept silent with my face glued to the ground. I am going to pay what I owe.” Please let me go.” Marcus pleaded. “ And how do you plan on refunding me my money? You lost that chance when you failed to keep up with the end

Chapter 58I opened my eyes suddenly when I heard Marcus saying some words. He was ranting like an idiot. “ Are you alright, Marcus?” I said, walking closer to him. I could hear his words. He kept rumbling. I listened carefully and I heard what he was saying. “ Is there a way out of here?” I looked at Marcus. He didn't answer me but kept on talking to himself. “ Are you sure that there is a way out of this hell hole?” “ Yes! There is.” Marcus finally said, looking at me like a possessed man. “ Keep your voice down!” I shouted, looking back at me. I could hear footsteps approaching our door. “ What's going on in there?” The voice said firmly. I looked at Marcus and saw he was calmer now. He was sweating profusely like some man in a trance. The locker room was silent. I said nothing but simply anticipated the next move of the guard. “ Can you hear me?” he shouted again. I knew he was going to check to see what was going on if no one answered him. I quickly looked at Marcus, placin

Chapter 59We didn’t wait. Ren turned sharply and led the way through the hallway. Park limped beside him, bruises littered across his face and arms, but he moved with determination. I glanced behind to see Marcus dragging the unconscious guard into a dark storage room and shutting the door quietly.“How the hell did you two find us?” I asked, my voice low as I followed Ren through the narrow corridor.“It wasn’t easy,” Park muttered, clutching his side. “We got tipped off by a girl, Lana. Said she used to work for Nathan and wanted to make things right. When you were taken, we thought we would never see you again.” “Lana?” I said, stunned. I hadn't been paying attention to her, and to even think she was going to help was strange. She has always minded her own business and stayed out of anyone's. “Yeah,” Ren added. “She gave us the blueprint of this place. Said there were underground tunnels Nathan uses to move contraband. That’s our way out—but we need to get there before they real

Chapter 60 My brain bubbled with ideas about how I was going to tackle all of this head-on. Nathan was having too many men and the students who worked for him, and it was scary. I know I need to have my men, too. I need to have loyal students inside the university and me outside who are more than willing to work for me. Not for personal gains, but men who had issues with Nathan's family. I lay back on my king’s bed, trying to get some sleep, when the door opened. I saw Ren and Park walk through. Each with their body parts in bandages. Park was having bruises all over his face, while Ren had a dislocated shoulder. “ Where is Marcus?” I asked while sitting up. Ren looked at me, “ He ran.” He said, taking a seat just in front of me. I opened my eyes in disbelief. “ What do you mean he ran? Marcus has no family or anyone to protect him. He could have…” “ Stayed?” Leo’s voice asked gently as he walked in. “ I know I should have warned you, but then I wanted you to see for yourself wh
