There is a secret that Leon and Helen did not know. Damien has always known that Leon worked with Helen for the cure, and he didn't mind. He knew that at the end of the day, Selina would worship him because the cure was his idea in the first place, but all that changed when he found out that Helen wanted Leon to say he made it himself. This made Damien very displeased. He would rather eat sand than to allow Selina to think that Leon saved her life. Yet again. That's why he has stood up right now, and told everyone at the party, a blatant lie. Selina gasps, holding her hand over her mouth. “You did it for me?!” “Well, of course!” Damien boasts. “I spent so many sleepless nights in the laboratory, and I insisted on my sister using the best products for you! Now you will never have to suffer again!” Selina jumps up and hugs Damien very happily. She will never have to fall into another coma again. Almost everyone else thinks that this is the most romantic thing ever, and they are

To Damien, this must be a very big joke, but the longer he looks into her eyes, the clearer he can see that this is as serious as a heart attack. He lets out a laugh as he takes a step back and wipe his hand over his mouth. “You sneaky bitch…” he points an accusing finger at her. “You hateful daughter of a thousand whores! You took away my birthright from me! You have been plotting this all along!” Helen huffs. “May I remind you that you are nothing but an adopted son. Inheriting the empire was supposed to be my parents’ gift to my real brother, not an imposter!” Damien is so angry that he smashes the flower vase to his left. “Imposter?!” He screams. “I was the one who saved you and your wretched sisters! Do you know how much the world would have judged you if they found out that your real brother is dead?!” Helen's eyes twitch with anger. “Do not speak about my sisters, or my brother in that manner ever again!” He grabs her chin and pushes her to the wall. “I am your brother

Damien feels his blood go cold as soon as Selina brings forth her bizarre suggestion. “Selina, are you serious? You want me to kill my sister?” “Adopted sister.” She corrects him, crossing her legs. “Need I remind you that you have slaved for this family for twenty years and now they want to cheat you out of your rights.” “And you think killing Helen Shankly, the miracle doctor of the city, is a good idea?” He huffs. Selina shrugs, she obviously doesn't care. Damien had previously thought that Selina liked his sisters, but the truth is that she didn't. To them, she was not a smart female doctor, like MJ, who they would have preferred for their brother, so they despised her. She only pretended to like them because she was just a mere fiancee, but now she is an official Shankly, and she can rub shoulders with them. “Listen to me, Damien. I have a friend that has a cousin that went to prison and also worked for the Mafia.” She says. “It will be a quick and clean job. You take Hel

Helen pulls Leon to the corner and cups his face in her hands. “Leon, you don't need to do this. We don't know what Damien and Selina are planning to do. I don't want them to hurt you–” “Helen, please calm down.” He tells her. “I promise you that I will be fine. They don't know anything about me.” “I don't have a good feeling about this, I don't trust them.” She confesses. “Me too, but I will be very careful.”Eileen and Doreen join them in the room. “Helen, I think Leon should take up the job.” Doreen sighs. “Girls, I don't want us to lose our brother for the second time. We know how dangerous Damien can be.” Helen press her hand against her forehead. “He is a big boy, he will be fine.” Eileen adjusts his collar with a smile. “Yeah, the twins are right.” Leon nods in agreement. “I could even get some information from them. I might know what they are up to.” Helen sighs, keeping her eyes on the ground. She doesn't want her younger siblings to know how much this worries her.

“Selina, I don't think I owe you or anyone any explanation on why I changed my surname. We stopped owing each other things as soon as you divorced me.” He reminds her. “Of course, you are still bitter about the divorce.” She scoffs. “But don't forget that I am the reason why you even met the Shankly family. You would have still been the poor son of nobody if Damien didn't beat you up that day.” Leon's lips compressed with rage, but he didn't give her the reaction she expected. It's true that Damien and Selina are the worst people in his life, but she is not lying. He would have never met his sisters if not for Damien and Selina. It's impractical, but he does owe them gratitude. “You are right, thank you.” He says flatly. “My life has indeed changed, and I'm sure you are happy that you finally got married into the Shankly family.” Selina looks at him from his head to his toes. “Also, don't get it twisted. I know that you were the one who made the drug that has now permanently cur

Leon throat constricts. Up until now, Helen hasn't told this part of the story to him. He turns to her, it's taking all his strength and manhood to keep himself from crying right now. “Mum and Dad burned to death?” His voice shakes. “How is that even possible?” Helen sniffles to keep the tears back. “That's a mystery that even the police have not been able to solve. It's so hard for the twins, I hate to bring it up. I'm sorry, but it was for their sake I kept it from you. I don't want to traumatise you too.” Leon grabs her hand, to show her that she doesn't have to grieve alone. From the distance, he didn't notice the hospital was burned, only when they came close enough. The main structure is still standing, but the tragic event's memory is still plastered over the wall. He imagines his father and mother screaming, begging for help from one of the windows. “We couldn't rebuild the place.” Helen shakes her head. “Even though we had more than enough funds. Can you imagine wha

Leon feels a sense of fulfillment that he hasn't gotten before. Not even when he graduated from medicine school. He has been initiated into a society that his parents were members of, and it has got to be the greatest feat in his life. His sister, his ever supportive Helen, she looks as proud as ever…He is sitting next to her at the table, staring at the mostly-blurred-by-shadows faces of his fellow sages. “We are here to talk about the drug that the Shankly empire has just produced. It's the most impressive medicine of the century, and it's going to change medicine the way we know it.” Senex says. He is talking about the gold serum, that's the name of the miracle liquid that is injected into a comatosed patient, and they would recover in the next forty eight hours. There was a less successful version of the drug, and although it successfully woke the comatosed patient up, it must be taken daily so as to be effective. The gold serum is different because it needs to be taken onl

As they head outside, they meet another of the sages, someone that Leon didn't expect at all. “Cameron, it's really you.” Leon is startled. “Hello, sage Leon. I'm glad to finally have you on our team.”They shake hands briefly and like usual, Helen and Cam barely look at each other. Two of the other Sages join them. Their names are Sage Lucas, and Sage Matilda. Helen and Matilda are the only few women that have been allowed into this organization since it's creation. “I have read about you, sage Leon, and I'm glad that you are here with us.” Matilda nods. “Thank you, miss.” Leon says. “I look forward to working with you people. Do we have other meetings apart from these?” “No, Leon, it's a secret society for a reason. It's forbidden to meet in public, or discuss things about ordo medicorum. Being sages is a heavy responsibility, and we must take our jobs very seriously.” Helen explains to him. “Yes, sage Leon. We meet once in ten days, and we intensely speak on pressing issues

Damien immediately picks up the file and starts to go through the patient's information. One of the nurses, who is about to go into the private room to prepare the patient for the surgery, sees him and freezes. He is not supposed to be on this floor, they have been warned. “Why are you looking at me like you have seen a ghost?” He huffs. “Don't you know who I am?” Helen hasn't been able to permanently get rid of Damien just yet, because of her, Leon, and the twins’ safety, but she has been able to prevent him from destroying her business. She has banned him from ever working on even the most poor patient, because she knows that he will mess it up and run the Shankly's reputation. The nurse turns crimson in the face, wondering what she is going to do. She is wearing her emotions so well on her sleeves, that Damien detects her plan before she would dart away. He grabs her hand and slams her into the corner. “Please, sir, you cannot perform the surgery. Doctor Leon is going to

If Damien had any sense, he would have heard the elderly nurse's warning, but he is so jealous of Leon, and he is determined to get his own honor. No matter the cost. He gets dressed for the surgery, and puts on his gloves and mask. Since it's a simple surgery, it's just him and the nurse. The nurse applies the anesthesia, and the old patient goes to sleep. “Please, Doctor Shankly, it's not too late to call Leon in to do this.” She begs him. For the last time. Damien's eyes darken, and he raised the scalpel in his hand up in a threatening manner. “Now, old lady, if you don't shut up your wrinkled mouth, I will skin you like a rabbit!” He threatens. “Do your duty as a nurse, and keep your bloody opinions to yourself.” She twitches with fear, then decides to keep her mouth shut. Damien examines the exposed torso of the man, and he measures it out with his eyes. “A little to the left, young master.” The nurse coughs. Damien glares at her for a quick second, but he then moves hi
